Irish slaves were very cheap compared to African slaves. However, slaves that looked African but had somewhat pale skin were the most valuable of all. Irish slave women were often forced to mate with African slave men to produce African-looking slave children with paler skin, which could be sold at a high price. All of the slaves -- Irish as well as African -- were treated more like livestock than as humans.

Cromwell and his ethnic cleansing allowed the murder or enslavement of any Irish Catholics found east of the Shannon. Why is it that the enslavement of the Irish is always glossed over as "exile" or "indentured servitude", terms that imply some sort of voluntary migration? It was slavery, pure and simple.

I am born in London have Irish family and I very proud to be Irish/British in this day and age and feel GB do many good and great things for other countries now! but there past governments have been corrupt and thats were the apology needs to come in. I know the queen has since visited to make amends which I thought was a very positive thing. Eviction meant being thrown out at any time of the year for any or no reason and watch his kids freeze to death. There were 15 famines between 1820 and 1848 and more up til the last one in 1906. That situation hadnt existed in England since the 1700s.You had poverty & hardship in England we had starvation & ethnic cleansing
