This music was 8 years old at this show and they had recorded 5 albums since then!!! What a way to make a living. I'm so envious I could be a bitter critic!!!
i've heard people critizize rush before. bad lyrics, don't like getty's voice, dorky...
but i've NEVER heard anybody go to a rush concert and not think it was the greatest thing they ever saw. i mean that literally, and i'm 38 years old., talking about like 100 people.
@what1111000 ..I took my uncle,he saw Zepplin, hated Geddy's voice,to be honest...Walked out of Power Windows going holey shit..That is one thing I will never forget....Their stage presense, blew him away
@what1111000 When I was a kid, my brother used to play these albums in like '83 and I thought "That dude sounds like a woman." I didn't like them for that and didn't really understand talent or what took to make great music. Wasn't until I got to my teens to figure out these guys were by far the best "group" as far as talent, since Zeppelin.
It's pretty sad, I'm twenty-three, always enjoyed a little rush "Limelight / Tom) but never have I enjoyed them as much as recent. I bought Moving pictures a few weeks back, loved it but wanted something more from them. Picked up 2112 at the start of this week... hasn't left my cd player the entire week.
Good move , its hard to beat Rush. 2112 is their greatest album ever. Its a real musical landscape. I cant recommend it enough to all music lovers young and old.
That's nothing. Once I saw Rush in 1982. Neil snapped his drum stick, the broken half went flying into the air and all the way to the arena's ceiling. From there, it bounced off the center scoreboard, flew across the length of the building, soared out the exit, got into a cab, headed for the airport, checked onto a plane, traveled to the next city, made to the band's next hotel stop, and got all the arrangements sorted out before the band's arrival the next day. NEIL IS AWESOME!!!
SOMEones been sniffing glue. That could not have happened. Theres no way. That stick you're talking about?.. Yeah. Ended up at The Raddison. The friggen stick was three blocks away from where it was supposed to be. The stick even KNEW they were gonna be at the Hilton. But for some unknown reason, it insisted on The Raddison. Luckily, the other half of the stick was on the ball. That's where the credit needs to go. Sticky really saved the day.
I read Neil for a long time used to hold the sticks in an unusual way (sort of upside down), so as to to strike the drums with the butt of the drumsticks. Also, he hit them with such force that the crew had to be very active around to replace broken parts when necessary.
I wouldn't be surprised if pieces of sticks were always flying around. Actually, that would have been awesome!

I bet if Rush became plumbers, their number would be 1-800-2112-1001001. It's a little lengthy, but for a Rush fan it should be automatic.

Geddy Lee is the best rock bassist and has a very unique voice, Neil Peart is second only to Buddy Rich, and Alex Lifeson is an amazing guitarist.
The only weak point in Rush is Alex's voice.
