I have a home business and a landline is pretty necessary for the quality and assurance of service and that's also why VOIP won't work either as despite all the hoopla about VOIP I 've heard over and over and over that folks are not happy with their VOIP services be it vonage (more like crapage) or magicjack.
Companies like comcast, verizon, surewest, etc, have it so one has to get a phone and data or phone and TV services together. The phone part usually isn't needed, as the report above explains. If comcast and other companies made the phone part 'opt-out' with no penalties, then even less people would have landlines. (and just have cell phones)
exactly! is should be about emergencies. for say, when the power goes out or in an earthquake when virtually everyone uses their cell phone to call someone and ask them if they "felt the earthquake" and not letting the lines free for REAL emergencies.
Im sticking with my landlines and I am only 23 years old.

That's OK, Il'l stick to my landline and it has nothing to do with either my educational level or my 'financial status', thank you.
