for Maya bragers, Maya can't use bump maps with point lights, Maya doesn't have versatle procederal textures like Lightwave, Maya doesn't have Viewport Rendering Technology VPR, Maya interface is the same since 2001 they changed the colours so does 3DsMax, if you don't believe me Google "Maya 4 Interface".
@machinimarespawns100 Nope. Look for luxology Modo. Is not perfect but they are on the right track, at least they don't lie to their customers, search for: rob powers on lightwave three year roadmap and newtek cans core as standalone package, and you will get the idea.
@jorbedo I understand your disappointment waiting for Core, but I guess we just have to wait, for now we have VPR and other new features and Lightwave 10.1 is just great for all sort of 3D content.
@SUPERSS90 Nope, Lightwave is too old to be compared to Maya, it is technology from last century (at least looks and feels the same as the last upgrade that I bought back in 1999). They keep adding little plugins just to make it look fresh, but is like using botox, you keep getting older doesn't matter how you look.
what is the best 3d animation software u have used?
ive heard that 3d sudio max is the best and maya 2011 is the best and i also heard that lightwave is the best, but when it comes to animation i know that lightwave is better and when it comes to modeling i know that maya has better tools i have not tried 3ds max yet i was just wondering if it is worth it?
@Cobac yeah, I'm not using logic I'm using natural reasoning, I already made up my mind that I'm going to use Lightwave and I took Maya 2011 classes and I kind of hate Maya it is an overkill for me. If I can do anything if I learn the program then why don't people just stick with Blender 3D or any other free 3D Programs?
@Selastrio simple because the industry demands the use of more popular and advanced programs like 3ds max , maya , softimage , lightwave . It's like photoshop and gimp they are practically ther same but gimp can only make RGB photoshop can make industry standard colors forgot what was the name of that optiuon .
@Selastrio yes , unless you want high end tools and have the money for them your better off with FREE stuff since they too can achieve very high quality assets
