  • Dont' leave me You have to forget Everything can be forgotten That is flying away already Forget the time The misunderstandings And the time that was lost Trying to understand how These hours can be forgotten Those that are killing sometimes With whys that hurt like punches The heart of happiness Don't leave me Don't leave me Don't leave me Don't leave me
  • Don't leave me Don't leave me Don't leave me Don't leave me I will invent for you Meaningless words That you will understand I will speak to you Of these lovers That we've seen twice Their hearts embracing each other I will tell you The story of this king Who died of not being able To get to know you
  • We have often seen Fire flowing again From an ancient vulcano That we considered to be too old It seems like Burned earth Produces more wheat Than a warm month of april And when the night comes And the sky is on fire The black and the red Won't go together Don't leave me Don't leave me Don't leave me Don't leave me
  • Don't leave me Don't leave me Don't leave me Don't leave me Don't leave me I won't cry anymore I won't speak anymore I will hide right there To see you Dancing ad smiling And to listen to you Sing and then laugh Let me become The shadow of yor shadow The shadowof you hand The shadow of your dog Don't leave me Don't leave me Don't leave me

  • Does anyone know what key this is in? The original is A Minor and I'd wondered if Nina Simone changed it. Thanks.

  • uwielbiam jej wokal :)

even if its not talking about love

  • @MsPerri18 actually, it's talking about love, desperated and crazy love. one of the most beautiful love songs

  • @whats00new LOL yeah i looked up the English lyrics its so beautiful...

  • @MsPerri18 yeah this song is really amazing...

  • i have no clue what she is saying... BUT THIS SONG SOUNDS SO DAMN BEAUITFUL... FRENCH LANGUAGE OF LOVE

  • If you go away....my heart cries to which language I dont understand but with cirtainty cirtainly my heart is sure.... Thank you Nina Simone

  • Maybe my favorite singer of all time. More than a singer...an interpreter. Will miss her forever.

  • @dearcarey So thrue ...

  • Splendida interpretazione del capolavoro di Brel.Grande Nina.

  • cygne noir!

  • @DRGoKiSsS You could always try some make-up.

  • @DRGoKiSsS

    ugly ?

  • what a pain in her voice...

  • So effortless ...passionate and intimate....NINA SIMONE IS

    AMAZING

  • This accent is great... she's great. One in the million...

  • European sadness that Americans can't understand

  • @Mita49 there is a sadness that exists because a person can believe that they have had it harder...but the hardest thing in this world is to admit that you've had it easy

  • i love this song, and i love her voice, i feel the pain and I shudder

    is perfect

  • Simmering, simmering, simmering......nearly peaking and then drawing back, only to start again. Sensuous and subtle; Nina Simone.

  • This is the best, heartaking, version. Maybe even the Americans will understand the European lyrics????????????????????

  • makes me cry

  • really makes wanna cry, she gives undescribable emotions.. its like your spirit just wants to come out and dance or something. Amazing.

  • Makes me cry don just know why,don understand french.

  • A true artist, Beyond words....

  • I have no idea what she is saying, but the pain....ooh my goodness.

  • Merci.

  • Commovente. Meravigliosa.

    Non l'avevo mai ascoltata.

    Ho pianto.

    Bellissima.

  • There is Brel, and then, there is NINA SIMONE, who so reinvents 'Ne Me Quitte Pas'', that it is no longer the same song composed by the great Jacques Brel. It is always truly thrilling to hear a cover with the depth of this one.

  • lindo

  • THERE NEVER WAS BEFORE AND THERE WILL NEVER AGAIN EXIST A TALENT AS EXTRAORDINARY AS NINA SIMONE'S. THIS COVER OF JACQUES BREL'S MASTERPIECE, SO ARTFULLY INTERPRETED IS AMOUNG THE BEST COVERS OF ANY SONG EVER RECORDED. I AM ONLY SORRY THAT I NEVER HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE MS SIMONE LIVE. SHE IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE AMOUNG THE ARTISTS WHOSE MAGIC AND MUSIC NEVER CEASES TO MOVE ME VERY DEEPLY.

  • sounds like indian language... an indian woman from America

  • @ropsidropsipepsi You've probably never heard people speak hindi, then.

  • @Heartbeat9 i heard in Caotica Ana, the movie.

  • @VrliNoviSvet except for the great BREL, I don't know any other rendition of the song with such emotion. french was not her mother tongue so .....your observation is very one sided. if this is the case people rapping in french is all wrong do to pronunciation and syntax? If you you don't like it just say that!

  • DON'T LEAVE ME...

  • This video was just added to a music playlist at JustPlay.fm

  • E' semplicemente meravigliosa!

  • BRILLIANT !

  • Did she cry at 1.03 ?

  • GRANDE!

  • 666 likes, 6 dislikes.......IT'S THE DEVIL.

  • Quel beauté !

  • what a lovely song..even though it's sad

  • This version is really toching, however, Jacques Brel 's is amazing.

  • 6 people dont have ears...

Great, Brel's version or Simone's one, i can't say wich one i prefer.

Such a deep and sweet voice!

  • FERMOSÍSIMA INTERPRETACIÓN DESTA SUBLIME CANCIÓN DE BRELL QUE EU GRAVEI NA MIÑA FALA.

O VIDEO ESTA EN YOU TUBE XUNTO A 40 CANCIÓNS MÁIS DO MEU REPERTORIO.

  • Caramba! Fantastico! Lindíssima interpretação. Obrigado. Thank´s!

    She makes me cry too.

  • Caramba! Fantastico! Lindíssima interpretação. Obrigado. Thank´s!

  • Original Author: Jacques Brel

    Language: French

This is the best of many many covers of

For sure the most deep, intense and powerful love song ever

    Great piece of poetry

Nina and Jacques rest in peace under rain pearls gold and light

  • exquisite, striking me with sadness, the best

  • ...!!!... Maravillosa...

  • it is in french. a remake of edith piath's ne me quittez pas

  • @lunargoddess2002 yes it is in french, but the author is called Jacques Brel. Although Edith Piaf is great, she did not create this.

  • @lunargoddess2002 the author is jacques brel

  • But, which language she(?) sings? Me, i don't understand her.

  • Its the personality that makes the music - one of the world greatest singers of all times.

  • definitive version.

  • soo very haunting!!!!!!

  • @80shanna Anything she sings is great because she is great. Also here livly songs are great.

  • @ paskunji

  • Excellent. Not quite up to the Brel original, but no one could accuse Nina Simone of lacking emotion as it oozes from this rendition like squirty cream from a can.

  • I LOVE this cover.wow. It's about Brel's mistress at the time who got pregnant and got an abortion, after Brel refused to be a father. I read that in an interview he said this wasn't a love song but the cowardice of men.

    --Wow what an emotional song...

  • @prettypennies

Thanks for this info didn't know this one cheers :)

  • just amazing. song 4 the soul <3

  • I believe this is a Rod McKuen song.

  • @AjaxDesertRat I'm pretty sure it's a Jacques Brel song.

  • @AjaxDesertRat nop, jacques brel

  • At the suggestion of reginasuper12, I listened to several Piaf versions. How do you even compare? Because I LOVE the song, I listened to the Brel version and loved it but the Piaf version compared to this is like trying to listen to Brittany Spears sing gospel. I felt nothing from the Piaf version and therefore it was useless to me.

To each their own but this is my opinion.

  • I love Jaques brell version... but this is beautifull.. Love Nina

  • You should totally check out Edith Paif!! Her passion in the song is amazing!!! Way more the Nina. Nina is great but Edith is amazing!!

  • I despise when people complain about the accent. I speak English naturally. I've heard people who don't speak English naturally, record songs in English. And their accents are bad. Yet I don't complain if the PASSION is there. The interpretation! The emotion! It makes it that much more interesting. Nina's French may not be perfect, as French is a difficult language to the American tongue. BUT her emotion is transcendent. Her voice is wrought with pain, tears. It's beyond accent. She MEANS this.

  • @BreezyGraffiti, Thank you. Maybe one in one hundred people who speak a foreign language do so without a strong accent. It takes years of delibrate effort to shed one's native accent. I never met a English-speaking Frenchman (for example) that did not have a strong French acccent when he spoke English.

  • Comment removed

  • @BreezyGraffiti I agree with you! Nina's breaking heart is on every syllable. Her emotions on right there. She sounds like she is in a deep place and will at any second crumble to bits, if he goes away! And Ms. Simone is/was such a great international star with a one of a kind voice.

  • I listened to this song for years before I found an english translation of the lyrics. It's amazing but her emotion told the story almost perfectly for me. Her talent is amazing.

  • @rghunnicutt .... pls post the lyrics

  • oh my god what an amazing voice ...she just makes me cry ...

    she is so wonderful <3

  • süperrrrr

  • outstanding!

  • No other rendition has the gravitas, the sorrow, the sadness..... she makes me cry every time. Nina Simone was one of a kind.

  • magnifique

  • sa voix est chargée d'émotion;magnifique!

  • chills.. i love this song.. wow

  • i miss her so bad!...

  • may be she is come from in country where its not rain.elle venu dun pay ki pleut pas thx nina

  • Maravilloso, hermoso, increible. ¡ Te amo Nina Simone ! La mejor version . . . la mejor.

  • FANTASTICA!

  • by the way, jaques brel sings in french...et pourtant,il chante en francais...

  • People, sometimes there only songs that can describe pain, passion, and other feelings. It doesn´t matter if we are lonely or just not in the mood to talk, the only that matters is de opportunity we´ve got every morning to change when´s still possible.

    Au revoir. Greetings from Bogota.
