  • Your view of F3 is quite levelheaded and to the point. Really good.

The growing bug problem with games, though, is not easily solvable.

"Oh! I'll go right back in and rewrite the line of code to remove the bug!" - is *not* how it works.

To remove bugs can require rewriting a year's worth of work on the engine code. After you have actually been able to find what causes the bug, which can take months on its own.

A company can go bankrupt by trying to remove all bugs before release.

    No kidding!

  • Is it me or was the main quest really, really short? Like 4-6 hours.

  • yes it was short wasnt it? i got it done in like 5 hours? dont know i just know i trade it back in in like 2 days and got oblivion:GfTY.

  • Yeah, I beat Oblivion before, but I'm doing it again, playing through KOTN and TSI. I find Oblivion to be a much better game overall. I still like Fallout 3, but it could have been better. I liked The Pitt expansion, but hated Anchorage. Looking forward to Broken Steel and Point Lookout.

  • D.C. looked pretty wiped off the map to me! And you said 'climatic' a few times.

  • No, wiped off the map as in a glowing glass parking lot. As in not existing. As in gone.

Don't jump into three and pretend to be a Fallout fan. God, that's so freaking annoying! I'm dealing with that now with Street Fighter 4.

  • Dude don't be such a douche! Did I SAY I haven't played the other games, and despite the fact that (yes I'm not afraid to admit) you are right. My brother has been playing these games - all of them - since they first came out, and he LOVES Fallout 3. I didn't even say I was a Fallout FAN! Are you a mind reader now? Maybe I'm just a fan of Fallout 3 - maybe I'm not even that. And if you never go to D.C. in the other games how do you even know what 'wiped off the map' is supposed to mean?

  • Comment removed

  • you dont really get to go in side D.C. its like you can see it but then you have to take the dam subways that are very boring.

  • dude stfu u dont know shit u band wagoner u cant reveiw 4 shit u redneck

  • HA HA HA!!!

Thank you, that's the first time in my whole life that anyone has ever called me a "redneck".

And what "band wagon", everyone is throwing nothing but praises at the game. My complaints were chiefly that it wasn't very true to the Fallout universe. Have you played the previous Fallout games? I'm guessing not, although you may claim otherwise. Who's the REAL ban wagoner here?

PS - Learn some grammar, kid. You sound unintelligent when you talk like that.

  • how many hours of gameplay would u say there is?

  • you can play straight through in like 20 hours but if you play through all the side quest and do like all the little fun stuuf that makes the game great you can play for like 132 hours that how many ive put in it

  • the main story it like 4 hours maybe less haha the rest it takes like 15 hours to find the quest if u look non-stop and to complete most quest takes like 20 min its not where near 132

  • Really?

I did everything in it without looking at a single FAQ.

Except for the guy in the sticks that is running an election. Didn't care enough to do it. And I just completely walked around Dogmeat by sheer accident.

But it didn't take me nearly that long.

I think it was like 40 hours in all.

    Maybe less.

  • you hit this point where there is no point. lol

  • I think the previous fallouts got a lot better graphics than this one. Also music.

Its funny how realistic the graphics get, the more unrealistic the atmosphere gets.

Your review was nice, but I would not mention f3 being buggy.. knowing the history of f1 and f2.

  • "Its funny how realistic the graphics get, the more unrealistic the atmosphere gets."

That's what's called the "uncanny valley".

It's a serious problem actually and designers are attempting to revive a taste of artistic style because of it.

  • great review dude. Everything you've said is spot on though.

  • Thank you.

I still need to work on my articulation, conciseness, and flow...

    Eh.

  • lol im a bethesda fan nice review btw very interesting

  • Nothing wrong with that, I've played TES since Arena.

    Just not a huge fan.

Daggerfall has got to be the most broken game in the history of video games...

Thanks for the kind words, man.

  • i dont get it this looks freakin 100 times better than the old fallout games the others look crap

  • Looks are only a fraction of a game's quality. On top of that how is it fair to compare the two? They're from different decades!

Graphics are past the point of linear values, at this point it's more about the art than the horsepower. I think that FO3 looks bland and empty, it's like someone dumped rocks all over a desert that happens to be laid out like DC.

  • Well, that's a first- a review that ain't showering the game with 11/10... 6/5 or 110/100 Kudos on that ;)

But seriously, What's so S.P.E.C.I.A.L about this game? Absolutely nothing. Jokes aside, Why didn't they call it "TES: Fallout (Featuring Guns ...and Swords)" at least then I could have given the game a 6/10 but as far as Fallout games goes this is a 0/10. But hey, It's a step in the right direction Bethesda!

  • Thank you.

I completely agree that the game is Oblivion with guns.

    It is.

I think it is an okay game all the same, just not a Fallout game.

Also, it's like 1/3rd the size of tesIV, so it kinda sucks in that regard too.

I'd pick it up in the bargain bin for $10, if I were you, if nothing else.

  • Actually I already own/finished it ;)

What gets me the most is actually how ridiculously easy the game is even at "Hard" I mean you carry/find all this radioactive food/water yet there is no real penalty for it...

a few weeks back I Enabled all locations in the game just to see what I missed and have now visited Every single place available- There is WAY to much wasted space...

    Leaves open for DLC...

Hopefully soon the real modding begins and will bring forth the real Fallout? Who knows ;)

  • That's true about the sparseness of the land, but I personally didn't mind it too much because the combat was so gratifying (compared to Oblivion, that is). I could see how allot of people wouldn't like it though, especially because of how everything looks IDENTICAL. My brother, after I posted this video, pointed out that it's also crass that it's a desert (with desert plants).

As far as getting DLC, I think I'll pass.

I burnt myself out on Half-Life.

    One.

Good content is too scarce to bother.

  • I am sincerely sorry that you had to play the game on an Xbox. I found that the PC version was FAR better. Specifically if you have a more advanced computer.

Your console overheating, crashing, and any other problems you stated are pretty much Xbox only.

I agree with your review for the Xbox, but it's just that. They had to dumb down the game for the console tards.

P.S. The reason there are 1/3 as many quests as oblivion is because there are about 1/3 the people...

  • uhhh about all the crap u mentioned bout the xbox has never happened...maybe if u mistreat the system that could happen to like kids with down syndrome and console isnt for dumb people? people that play games on PC are newbs computers are strictly for school work and research they shouldnt be infested with games like they are unless ur using the computer souly for games which then cost like 2000 bucks when u can spend 300 on xbox which might nto be as good looking but are damn close soo newb

  • Ouch.

    But seriously:

1)I bet you can't even navigate DOS, let alone use a C64.

2)Bitch, I was online using terms like "Newbie", "owned", and "god smack" before your pink ass could even talk. Then I grew up.

3)I bought a 360 when it came out and got stuck with one of the over heating system that they refused to fix until the warranty ran out.

4)You can make a gaming system for $500 that would blow a ps3 or 360 out of the water.

    You know nothing of gaming.

  • Ouch indeed.

    "console isnt for dumb people"

I can't get over that. XD

"How do I turn that thing on? Hm...No clue. I'd best consult professional help in console handling. Or maybe I'll stow the thing away until I have a university degree in Applied Science of Modern Day Consoles?"

Not too long ago, I read a comment claiming that the PC will never have as many games as the 360 and PS3.

    Ouch to that, too.

    XD

    Note:

Replies to hateful comments may only be worth your time, if diplomatic, though.

  • kinda crappy review tbh with you. there was no gameplay visuals, and all u had to say was how crap it was. personally i disagree, for all others watching this video dont listen to this bum, if u like rpgs and shooters then buy it.

  • Dude, who hasn't seen every single frame of that game in every angle?

I wanted to present content, not a fan service.

And btw, I gave the game an 8.5 out of 10.

I'm sorry if you can't intemperate commenting on it's features honestly as opposed to showering it with blind praise as a review.

If you want ads disguised as reviews, go to GT or Gamespot.

But all the same, thanks for watching.

  • ive wacthed your fable 2 review along with this and you pick out pathetic little things. you obviously dont like RPG's so stop freakin buying them.

  • Dude, are you kidding me?

I'm currently playing through M&M 6 for the 4th time! I've played Breath of Fire 3, two times. Wasteland was my first one. Fallout about three times. Link to the Past, 3. Sekein Densetsu 2 (Secret of Mana) 4 times, once with two simultaneus games between a friend and a buddy. Part 3 I played twice. Final Fantasy Tactics twice. And Tactics Advance I lost count on because I played it underway all the time in the Navy.

    I LOVE RPGS!

    When they're worth playing.

  • This game could have been so much more if someone in the gaming industry actually cared about immersion, emotions, and thought provoking storytelling. Instead Betheseda uses the Fallout theme as a marketing tool to attract dumb gamers and Fallout fans. More money for them. Hopefully they give up the rights and let the franchise rest until given to a proffesional. They need to press the restart button on this franchise and rethink the story cause in my opinion even Fallout 2 was a flop.

  • You know, I actually tip-toed around FO2 in my mind. I thought dragon punches was right out. WTF?

All the same, I think that you are making a mistake in trying to pin down what makes a good game.

That's like trying to pin down what makes a good movie.

    Well what's your criteria?

Story? Drama? Special effects? Action? Comedy?

The simple fact is that video games have just as many, if not more, flavors as movies.

The idea of making it into a simple quantitative comparison is an absurdity.

  • Btw, thank you for the comments.

I can tell you are a clever and insightful person, even if we reached some disagreements.

  • THANK YOU.......finally a true review

  • Thanks.

I'm thinking about doing a quick review on Burnout: Paradise, Shadowrun, and Assassin's Creed.

I went to town on a bargain bin the other day...

But I think they aren't current enough to be worth while.

    What do you think?

  • R u sure it wasnt your 360s fault 4 the game crashing?

cus mine didnt do that 4 the ps3

    gud review though 5 stars

  • Could cause the lockups, but not the AI crapping out.

    That was 100% bad programming.

  • This is how I would have reviewed it, and this is how I scored it on Gamespot. So an excellent review - and at last a person reviewing Fallout 3 who PLAYED fallout 1!!! That's what we should see more of! For professional reviewers that earn their INCOME from reviewing games, playing Fallout 1 for 10 hours so you know what the hell your talking about should have been demanded by their bosses!

  • Oh- and I am a PC player - so no Construction Set also affected my score. I mean, look at the 1,000's of mods that came out for Oblivion and doubled the inhabitants, creatures and quests! Imaging all the cool quests and stuff modders could come up with with Fallout 3!

  • Oh, man...

I didn't mean to delete your post!

Sorry man. They really ought to ask are you sure for deleting posts, or allow you to repost them.

That's awesome that you still have it.

Wasteland was the first RPG I played through. I got far in Ultima but got bored of it. I think my brother might have the copy of it, he collects classic games.

  • Ultima 5 and Wasteland...

Loved both but managed to mess them up before reaching the end.

In WL I ran out of ammo for energy weapons, and no other weapon even scratched later foes without emptying an entire clip per attack.

Attempts to "fix" the problem rendered my savegame unplayable, thanks to there being only 1.

U5 allowed me to mess up my standing with Lord British when I attempted to infiltrate the "Oppression", by deceit.

    Again, only 1 save slot.

They don't make games like that anymore. XD

  • Thank you.

I actually played it when it was Wasteland on my Commodore 64.

    Tape decks, baby!

You had to flip through the manual to read the dialog too because paper was cheaper than disk space back then. How cool is that?!

  • Also, slight mistake here: Bloody mess was a useless but funny perk which made everyone's death animation the most violent possible.

Is there special dialogue for 1 intelligence characters still?

  • Are you sure?

I guess my memory could be failing me, but I could of sworn that bloody deaths messed with percentages...

I couldn't tell you about the dialog options, my character had 4 int and 4 char. I suppose I should try it out and comment on it.

  • You should leave your home address so we can send you some tissue...Cry Baby.

  • What crying?

I said the game was a 8.5 out of 10.

I said it was worth buying.

The main negative comments I made were in regards to it screwing up the Fallout line.

If you had played them you would know what I'm talking about.

It's called a review, not blind paid for praise.

  • you come off kind of like a prick....prolly cause you are.

  • Yes I am, I'm okay with it though.

I was in the Navy for 6 years, we don't do tact very well.

  • No traits? NO TRAITS? I loved those!

  • Thank you for the complement.

    Yeah, I know, traits rocked.

Worse yet is that they turned some of them into perks and missed the whole point of them.

  • I cannot wait for the modkit to come out, so that traits can be reimplemented, as well as targeting the eyes and groin; not to mention making everyone killable.

  • I wouldn't hold my breath...

If it's like Oblivion, which it is, it will be too limits to do most of that.

  • Unfortunately. I know it's a pipe dream.

  • This is the most honest review I've heard.
