  • 4TH sound of interest -- STRIDOR. think of 3 year old brought in for eval b/c mom states he swallowed a foreign body.

  • I totally agree

  • great, wish it were longer though...

  • I cann't get the different between wheeze and rhonchi

  • Because of the alveolar collapse there would be less air in the lungs and the percussing would be more dull. This is what I've just been tought (I hope it's correct), I'm in the beginning of my clinical studies though, I haven't experienced it yet on a patient.

  • in 50 seconds this man taught me more about those lung sounds than my lectures have.

  • @jcoleCRNA Agreed. Nursng courses counfuse me so much.

  • @jcoleCRNA damn right!

  • thank you

  • what is the difference between an rhonchi, and rale sounds, I dont know how any of those should sound. I have this problem right now, that I hear y lungs making a slight sound when I breath in that rounds like a cat's rrrr..., It also akes me want to cough bad because I feel like I have something in there that I need to expell. It also causes me to run short of air and take deeper breathes. Chest pressure I think so too.I know is in my lungs and is very inconfortable. I dont think is whistle

  • It's a good question---I really don't know.

I have seen lot's of lungs with atelectasis, yet, I haven't found it helpful to percuss them.

    Peace.

  • Hi! do you have any video of percussion? I would like to know if can an atelectasis cause hyperresonance dued to hyperinflation of the lung on expiration

  • If you suspect atelectasis ask the patient to take a deep breath and cough. Then recheck the airway with a deep breath on auscultation. You would not be able to percuss atelectasis. I hope this helps. MS4

  • thank soo much >>>

  • thank u, it helps alot.

  • mmmm very nice Doctor...I would appreciate to get to know him...

  • THANK YOU! this helps greatly! I am in 1st MOD of LVN school have no idea WHAT I WAS THINKING when I thought I should stop healing people from the outside in (HAIRDRESSER 30yr) & help heal people from the inside out for my next 30 yrs!HOLY CATS!I thought this would be easy peasy now I'm not so sure!but the video explains the lung sounds a little bit better!thanks!

  • I'm only 18 and when I run down a basketball court I seem to lose my jumping ability because my chest tightens up. The doctor said I have asthma, and he gave me an inhaler (helped just a little) but it really made no difference at all. I can dunk all day when I don't have to sprint, but my cardio goes to hell when I actually have to run. What could be the cause of this? :(

  • @jmk0309 Are you in good shape? How far can you run? You definately lose explosive power when you are tired..

  • thankx buddy :-)

  • I have a rattling sound, (or faint sound of velcro being pulled apart) every morning when I wake up. Left lung only. It last only for 2 inspirations and then subsides. This has been going on for over a year now. I am in otherwise good health; exercise vigoursly a few times a week, good diet, and rarely sick. However, I did just quit, (2 weeks ago) smoking. I was a social smoker, smoking on avaerage 3 cigs a day. I do not have an addiction to nicotine so I am not going to start again.

  • @eviljonny1 There are tiny hair-like structures in your bronchi and trachea that are called cilia. Cilia move mucus up into the mouth to be spit out or swallowed. Smoking paralyzes these cilia so in the morning, people are usually really gurgly and produce a lot of sputum until they have another smoke. That could explain the symptoms during your time smoking. As of now, it shouldn't be happening anymore since you quit over 2 months ago.
