I want to see the original Nes get into a battle with The playstation 3. If we judge their abilities on pure popularity, the playstation would be bloody and bruised, crying in a corner, while the NES stood proudly on a mountain top.
For this generation of consoles I think the Xbox 360 is the one that's winning, why? Because they got Gears of War and Halo, the latter being the main reason most people have an Xbox 360, also Xbox Live is just has a better online society than PS3. PS3 of course is actually a better system + blu-ray player but it had a slow start. The Wii is sadly last place because the system is really lacking in 3rd party games and it's pretty much an upgrade to the Gamecube but with remote as the controller.
Sony is the gaming ghetto that tries too damn hard, Nintendo is the concrete base for other game adaptions, and the X-Box is the fine silver line in between.

Now people can give playstation some credit, because at the time they had final fantasy 7 and that made the system alot of money, along with the tomb raider games, and Im glad you like crash bandicoot, so go play it on that ps3 that updates every 5 minutes, and I will stick with the brick they call a Nintendo.

Yeah, playstation sold alot because of the final fantasy popularity in the late 90's and early 2000's. The only reason I would ever get a playstation 2 is for grand theft auto vice city. that was a fun game. ALSO,,,I will just say it again...Graphics do not make a good video game.

The older consoles hold many more promises for me, the newer consoles don't do much backwards compatibility. The PS2 can play PS1 games, effectively doubling its library. Plus the existing PS2 library is more than the current PS3 library.

I always thought of it as the PS3 and Xbox using rifles, pewpewpew-ing good, sometimes great games at each other, while the Wii is artillery, a lot of faffing about, followed by a kaboom.
Nientendo made the better system but Sega had the better mascot. Nientendo could have trashed Sonic as the final nail in Segas coffin but he was so awesome they couldn't and now sonic has sprea to every system and will never die, while Mario remains an exclusive. Mario will die with nientendo.

Nintendo has THEE world's most recognisable characters (that being Mario et al, and Link et al) of all time. I own a Wii and PS3, and got rid of my XBOX because it was nowhere near as good. It all comes down to the games. Graphics aren't half as important as gameplay and storyline, and if you take that into consideration, then Nintendo wins all.

I love my xbox. I really do. And my ps2 has gone through a lot. But you know? I think I'll always be a Nintendo girl. The SNES is my favorite system. Super Mario Kart an' Kirby's Avalanche...while kinda kiddy, are so much fun to play with friends.

Its the same now with the PS3, they are using it to get people to buy into the blue ray junk, and that is where the playstation becomes a failure in my opinion. I want a Video Game system. @marriedtoheather you're completely missing the point, I never use my PS2 for DVDs, its a secondary option, as the DVD controls arent as refined as on a PS3 or DVD player. PS3 on the other hand functions as pretty much everything. I use it more for uploading videos on the hard drive itself vs. DVDs or Blue Rays. I don't even own a single blue ray disc to be honest.

The Wii is selling better than the 360 and PS3, but only because they're catering to a larger market. As a result, most of the games now suck except for the main franchise titles.

I grew up on NES & GBC, so I know all the classic characters for Nintendo. Compare the PS1 and N64. The N64 had no more than 20 must buy games... the PS1 had over 100. Same with the gamecube vs xbox vs ps2. You could count the ammount of good games the GameCube and XBox...

You also need to realize that those systems sold alot because at the time, it was nice to have a dvd player and a game system. it was a good choice for them, I bet dvd sells went up alot too, but that doesnt make it a good system for making VIDEO GAMES.

I always thought of it as the PS3 and Xbox using rifles, pewpewpew-ing good, sometimes great games at each other, while the Wii is artillery, a lot of faffing about, followed by a kaboom.

THANK YOU!! You have NO idea how many arguments I;ve had with moron SEGA owners. SEGA was complete and utter tripe. Nintendo has THEE world's most recognisable characters (that being Mario et al, and Link et al) of all time. I own a Wii and PS3, and got rid of my XBOX because it was nowhere near as good. It all comes down to the games. Graphics aren't half as important as gameplay and storyline, and if you take that into consideration, then Nintendo wins all.

I love my xbox. I really do. And my ps2 has gone through a lot. But you know? I think I'll always be a Nintendo girl. The SNES is my favorite system. Super Mario Kart an' Kirby's Avalanche...while kinda kiddy, are so much fun to play with friends.
...and as fer Nintendo never having adult games...they've had a few. There's MadWorld, Mortal Kombat, and Silent Hill to name a few. I think they prefer to focus on games that rely on things other than guns mindless violence...

@SnipingIsFun lack of HD graphics, its got as much power as a PS2 (not that the PS2 isnt epic, but for a seventh gen system, thats really lacking), no trophy support, bad porting of games (ive heard numerous reports of the zelda games glitching up becoming unplayable), no new exclusive games aside from series thatve been done for 20-30 years, lagging controls, etc.you get the picture.

Its the same now with the PS3, they are using it to get people to buy into the blue ray junk, and that is where the playstation becomes a failure in my opinion. I want a Video Game system. Sony makes some good stereos though.

@marriedtoheather you're completely missing the point, I never use my PS2 for DVDs, its a secondary option, as the DVD controls arent as refined as on a PS3 or DVD player. PS3 on the other hand functions as pretty much everything. I use it more for uploading videos on the hard drive itself vs. DVDs or Blue Rays. I don't even own a single blue ray disc to be honest.

@killer92173 Me too, and that's the thing, they were worried about the games, not the hardware. With the PS3 they worried about the Hardware more than the launch titles, sure they're now fixing that, hence why they have all this exclusives, but the damage is already done.

The Wii is selling better than the 360 and PS3, but only because they're catering to a larger market. As a result, most of the games now suck except for the main franchise titles.
Any multi-platformers the Wii gets are always stripped down and have graphics worse than the PS2.

@ShadowDeathLighnting Mainly due to Sega's built up poor reputation from a streak of failures: the gimmicky CD, the 32x and the overly expensive and difficult to program Saturn. While the Dreamcast was actually a great console, people didn't trust Sega at the time, the PS2 made an entrance (which dominated that console generation) and it was too easy to burn your own games for the DC so Sega lost a lot of money on the games. Although I was raised Nintendo, I miss Sega...

I own a xbox and I love it. I have netflix and get to play great games, like skyrim, BUT I respect Nintendo alot more. Nintendo has never copied anything from the other systems, other than switching to discs after their cartridges. Playstation and xbox will never have the classic characters that nintendo has. As for memorable characters.....Solid Snake, Crash, The Master Cheif, Dante, Ezio (not for a nintendo system so therefore exclusive to MS and Sony) Nathan Drake and Kratos just to name a few. Kinect did suck, it lags like a bitch and ive never tried PS move, but game and graphic wise, the PS3 and 360 are superior in every way.

@hdeath123 The only first person shooter character i named was the Master Chief. I dislike most FPS games however the first Halo game was very well done. I grew up on NES & GBC, so I know all the classic characters for Nintendo. It does have a lot of them, but just because it has the characters established from back in the day does NOT mean that it continues to live up ti it's former glory. Nintendo died after the N64 imo... PS3 kills pretty much every system nowadays anyway (PS+ nuff said)

Just because the xbox has better graphics, it doesn't mean it's better. Microsoft barely makes 1st party games, and sony doesn't either. They survive off making computers and televisions. But since the big thing on the market is 1st person shooters and online gaming. So developers mainly focus on a shooter with online capability. @UnivingIshiro Honestly, it's not the same shit with different names. i for one hate console wars, and I own a PS3 and a 360 (and owned a Wii at one point unti l I realised I only pulled it out once a year to play Smash Bros), but back in the day, systems were totally different. Compare the PS1 and N64. The N64 had no more than 20 must buy games... the PS1 had over 100. Same with the gamecube vs xbox vs ps2. You could count the ammount of good games the GameCube and XBox...

@UnivingIshiro But there is a differance, when it comes down to deciding which system you want to buy, if you just go by the attitude that ""theyre all the same" you may end up regretting your purchase because of the type of games on that system. Sure, major games like CoD and sports games are the same, but both consoles have a very distinct group of exclusives, and thinking that "theyre all the same, so it doesnt matter which i buy" is a bad way of going about buying a system.
