2nd & 3rd 's something i haven't been listening too that much since it kinda lacked the sundays feeling i got with the first album, just about every single song on the first album sounded exactly how it should've sounded, couldn't add anything or find anything wrong
pre LSD and teen angst listened to it over and over again, post acid never heard it again till now, happy memories of butt ugly goth girls indeed:) (oops sorry indie chicks!)
I agree with you that this is way better than anything we hear nowadays, but you can't dismiss some of the crap the 90s produced. "Ice Ice Baby" and "Rico Suave" ring any bells? Every decades got it's crap
Bought this album from HMV yesterday! I was probably about 1 year old when this album came out. But I remembered the old tin out version of ''heres where the story ends'' not knowing it wasnt the original version. Sooo i hear the sundays version (original) on the radio (may have been xfm) and so I realise this girl has a pretty unique voice and songs sounds very 'Smiths' inspired. I;ve been playing the album over and over again. Fook cheryl cole, lady gaga, tinie tempah...All that shyte!!
an unbelievably beautiful song! still gives me shivers every time! also just want to say that paul brindley's bass playing is very unique! what a great band... gone but not forgotten!!
she starts to fall in love with an innocent younger guy, but with her experience she sees that the relationship cannot stand (for worldly reasons, perhaps because of the age difference, distance, or her fears of her own lack of commitment). her "finest hour" is turning him away before he gets too attached, to save him from the hurt that she knows must come if they were to deepen their relationship.
I live in the St. Louis, MO area and heard this song the other day at a Taco Bell restaurant of all places...I'd heard it before, I believe, but definitely took more notice this time of the lyrics so I could find out who did it. Great song!! Kind of reminded me of Annie Haslam from Renaissance (another GREAT singer & group!). I'll have to check into more from The Sundays!! :)
heard this song today at cvs, I had to search for it and comment on it to say that it's one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard, the guitar and especially the VOCALS
That is exactly the same way I feel. I find that all the songs that strike a deep emotional chord within me have those types of quick minor key changes
What happened to all those pretty girls in floral dresses, cardies, and DM boots - and occasional Sundays t shirt with pears on the front - circa 1990?
i heard this in cvs n had no clue what it was but fell in love with it n remembered the words:"we r who we r what do the others know but poertry is not for me" n looked it up cuz i looove it i cant believe how different n nice it is.
I love this song!! The Sundays were my very first concert. My older sister took me to see them in 1990 when they were touring the U.S. to promote this album. It was a wonderful night!!
This is one of my favorite songs from their first album. Of their 3 albums, Blind is my favorite. I would recommend all three albums, but be aware that each one has a very different style--although they all feature Wheeler's beautiful voice and Gavurin's great guitar work.
Just heard this in my car on the way to work. This album is my favorite. Will need to get "Blind" too as I enjoy 3 songs on it so far. Anyone recommend their last album?
I always had this song in my playlist when I used to fly a lot. There's something special about hearing this song at 30,000 feet.
