Do I have to buy a special equipment, or a standard Parker Fountain Pen would suit enough? Because I dont know how you do these thick parts of letters.
@dzava Standard parker fountain pens aren't very flexy... most of them have a very stiff nib. If you want a cheap way to do this and still have a nice fountain pen. Buy a noodler's Flex pen or noodler's ahab flex pen. You can buy them from the goulet pen company... you can google it and you should find it. The site is gouletpens(.)com Hope i was helpful.
@dzava I believe mont blanc make some flex pens but i am only really familiar with noodler's and parker. I would look for some waterman, cross and mont blanc. But most likely the nibs will be gold and the pen will be more expensive. Noodler's flex pens are steel nibs and are reasonably priced and write smooth. Unless you are willing to spend over $100 on a solid gold waterman or mont blanc nib, i would go with the noodler's. I'm not an expert but thats what i would go with. Hope i helped.
hollyshit, it looks perfect! love how u write it slow and how it just slowly unfolds to achieve perfection. must have practiced tones of times before u made this video...lol
Some downstrokes are too thick to be Spencerian. There shouldn't be any flex strokes with letters like r e n just for example. I don't think that every downstroke is flexed in Spencerian. Beautiful handwriting though, steady hands.
I reckon if anyone received a letter from you, written in this graceful hand, they would want to frame it. Maybe your bank-manager would compliment you on your cheques too, as long as you don't go overdrawn!
@tipstricksyou dear sir/madam i am practising this for 2 days and now i can write the spencerian style. My only problems are: the letter "p" ,"r","v","u" because i think that most people will not understand these and the Capital letters! Do you know any practise to do to learn them? Also i find it really hard to type fast like this!
@tipstricksyou Also could you please tell me the name of the song?and how can i find your album? thanks for your support and congrats for your cool hobby! I cannot believe that by practising this style all day long i can now write like this!
My name is Spencer, and what do you know, I collect pocket watches and recently started calligraphy....What kind of Spencer would I be if I didn't learn Spencerian?! :)
Everyone's a keyboard critic. Petty people that take any chance to knock someone down because either they can't do it, or need to feel like an authority on the matter, are less than trivial. I like your penmanship, regardless if its Spencarian or not. Don't pay attention to throng of antagonistic know-it-alls. Props to you man for taking up a dying art form.
@wagonburnt Thank you! I'm not a teacher or artist, this is my hobby and I can make mistake, however critiques are always accepted. Good writing to all!
@marcuskim76 I've learned on fountainpennetwork com, and lot of practice. Take a look at my picasaweb album id=tipstricks1 where you can find the Spencerian key to practical penmanship book
The autor take specenrian writing like just one style, like a result forgotting the process.Spencerian is a fluid method of writing. For example the top of "T" is rounded, it is because he isn't doing the right movement. Press the nib and don't move it, so push it sideways to the left, softly, and after the nib splits you pull it down reducing the pressure that will produce fastly one sharp top without the need of retouch.
@lpanades Yes this is really Engrosser's script or roundhand approach. Not true Spencerian. NOt in appearance or method. True Spencerian is done much, much more fluid and let constructed.
Exactly... you well synthetize it with the word approach.
Because english is not my first language sometimes the right words escapes from me. You put the just one.
I write exclusively with fountain pens so my spencerian learning was a bit difficult because i had almost used rigid nibs fountain pens. This nuances of spencerian width were difficult to learn but not impossible.
The use of flexible dip nibs show me the way that i could replicate in proportion for the fountain pens.
So i concluded that the real spencerian writing and result is just completly acchieved with flexible nibs in spite of the use of correct method. Studying the style i conclude too that the width were not just for appearence purposes but for good and fast reading.
In school I had learned to do the "a" and "o" with about the same motricity and form and only after study this beautiful style i discover the importance in doing they the "right" way. In my languade, portuguese, it is crucial
