  • THEY ARE THE COMPLEX BAUHAUS BUBBLEGUMGOTHMAN SCENE

THAT IS YOUR MAN WILLIAM "THE JOKER" AKA BAUHAUS 2121 AKA WASHINGTON SUICIDE LOVE YOU ALL

  • Was this the beginning of so called "Bubblegum" scene? =o What's they're officially genre anyway?

  • @CarreyTrash "genres" are categories that marketers develop to process and organize art for people who experience anxiety if they aren't being told what to think. The genre they were in during the 80's was "this sh#t's f$ck*ng intense."

  • @Meursault40 Okay. =) For me these guys just sound bubbleglam and punk.

  • Does anyone else think these guys may have used drugs?

  • I was at this show! One of the very best I've ever seen.

  • God Id rather have a tooth pulled than sit thru that intro though! LOL!!

  • Sounds like sh!t, what an arse

  • omg the worst video evar. Filmed a TV set did ya? nice. Hey, you know what you should do? Have a 35 second long intro touting your youtube channel! You know why? your work is so much more important than... say.... the musicians! Yeah man! you rock. fuck off

  • i hate these live videos they sound like straight shit

  • I was there! Omg.. how amazing to see this again.

  • I was there @ that show.Remember people would come sneak in the shows there thru the hills. That was some crazy sh** I miss those days.I still have my Black "Ritual de lo Habitual" Tour 1990 shirt

  • I totally remember that, it was going on a lot...

  • best kind of a psychedelic performance you can imagine..?

    that's the JANE'S ADDITION man ;))

  • JANE'S ADDICTION *

    xD

  • i love janes

  • Killer footage. I really love this band.

  • Grew up on this shit in the late 80s!!! The greatest band ever!! The definitive band to me that really opened my eyes musically.

  • Definitive of what?

  • Definitive of reckless abandon, self expression, high energy shows... and so on...

  • @dnr415 i agree 1000000% music was never the same after i first heard jane's addiction

  • too bad it sounds like it was recorded in a tin can...:(

  • I think he recorded the youtube video by filming a monitor with a handicam to purposely kill the quality (supposedly all this footage is for a DVD release... god knows when that'll ever come out...)

  • I had this on triple x, the 1st live and best cd, my perspective of course

  • I used to follow Jane's when they played in the UK and I can say with 100% certainty that this is the Nothing's Shocking Tour in 88 or 89.

The band first toured Ritual in 1990 then did a further european tour in early 1991 before playing Perry's inaugural Lollapolloza tour in the summer of 91 before splitting.

Coll that their manager Ted Gardner approved this vid though...kudos for that.

The song is of course 1% for the self titled live debut lp.

The original Jane's are planning a tour with NIN

  • You're right--I was at this show--but it was called Ritual de lo Habitual (that was the them so to speak, Day of the Dead motif with a goth Carnival atmosphere). This show kicked off a seven show, week stand at the Anson Ford, a gorgeous outdoor amphitheater. It was great, nothing like it since.

  • Yes, the 7 day show was called "Ritual De Lo Habitual" they would later release their album in 1990 by the same title.

  • This is classic stuff! I'll be looking out for a DVD for sure!

    Thanks!

  • haha im naked!!! A

  • Fuckin freakin amazing guitar riff.

  • The song being played in this video is called "1%," and was on their original self-titled album.

  • Jock Schnooza done gotten woolly-eyes praps?

    5-

  • how could this be a Ritual tour show? Nothings Shocking came out in 89, Ritual delo Habitual came out in 91.

  • the tour would later become the name of the album

  • @jukejointpgh this is more a 1987 video,, goin by how perry looks

  • This is kind of cool...and I like the fact that you recorded it from your tv screen...that is probably why Ted Gardner okayed it. If it had been higher quality, he might have nixed it. First time for me seeing this footage and man, the memories it brings back of these shows!

I went to 4 of the John Anson Ford shows(were there 6 or 7?) that April of 1989, and I saw Alex Winter(the actor from the Bill & Ted movies) running around with a video camera filming the show...where is that stuff?

  • Please do release.

I dont have stacks of old janes footage, but i have alot.

This 1 i have never seen.

Awsome vid, pre cut Perry too.nice.

    Good and raw janes!

  • did you film yer tv?

  • yes-- For all of the concert footage I uploaded on youtube, I dumbed down my quality by playing back through a monitor onto my computer, it was so quick for me to do it this way without compromising my original work. All of this footage is on digital masters... this Jane's concert I'm producing into a DVD, with rare acoutstic footage, In 1989 it will be 20 year since I produced and directed this show, so I'm thinking of releasing it next year.

  • Where (and when) are you going to make the DVD's available? I'd love a copy!

  • look your eyes and find!

    the endorsement law, the pacs, he cia- and the mafia,and let's start (shhh) just between the { cracks appear }

  • What's up with filming the television? Why do people do this?

And yeah dude, put the credits at the end.

  • I do it as a creative endeavor to gain an effect and a response, in this way I give the image of a Boob Tube on youtube effect.

You don't have to watch it or visit this station...

    Thank you and good night

  • awesome

  • its true.

  • awesome!!! 1% fave janes track!

  • one percent!!!!!!!!!!!

  • next time I'll make em 60 seconds long... enjoy!

  • I aggree

  • Ritual wasn't released until 1990...surely this is the Nothing's Shocking tour?

  • Yeah they did this tour which later became the title of their album in 1990, they were actually in pre production for ritual de lo habitual ...during this performance Perry mentions it to the audience, they perform a song from ritual and Perry says that song is from our new album which we are starting in June ....

  • they used to always tour before they came out with the album.they wrote suffer some in 1987 but didnt release it till strays 2003

  • nice

  • i feel so incredibly stupid not knowing this song, but someone please tell me what it is

  • song is 1%

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the drums are sounding bad...in the digital format are they good?

  • hmmm, after seing this an the last rhcp vid you posted I dont doubt anymore that you'd have some legit stuff. but tell me, do you actually film your tv for the utube vids u do? if yes, that would explain why the quality is not at best..

  • Right on!!! Thanks for posting Richard!
