  • Someone should tell the guitar player that it's tacky to wear your own band's shirt on stage.

  • That's from Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit

  • "Our little group (Christ's disciples) has always been

And always will until the end"

  • Jane: "Jane you ignorant sult." (SNL)

From, Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit

    "She's (Jane's) overboard self assured

Oh no I know, a dirty word."

  • FYI, "Jane" is organized religion and said power structure.

  • All I can say is "Jane, you ignorant slut."

  • awesome live performance.

  • When I was in college, in Memphis, I had tickets to see Jefferson Starship and they canceled for some reason. That sucks (maybe so I would not see what I see now). That would have been cool.

  • Uh, The Ridgefield Playhouse is in RIDGEFIELD, CT - hence the name.

  • Ahh many nights dancing to this at the Pier in Beloit Wi. So many good memories

  • I prefer marty balin

  • Marty Balin is a good singer , but i don't think he could pull this song off

  • The lead guitarist, Greg Chicisowhatsits, (?) that dood plays just like me.

  • @rok100 He doesn't suck.

  • thumb up if you searched 'jefferson airplane jane'

i cant be the only retard

  • I think the vocals are amazing

  • Yes, this is live. Mickey Thomas and Starship of this era were this good on stage. Yes they were.

  • i think this is not live... by the way, awesome song, i listened to it for the first time tonight and i already love it! GREAT!!

  • @ilDanyz 100% live. audio isn't the greatest on this vid and is slightly out of sync, which is distracting. i've seen them live almost a dozen times. this isn't even one of their particularly best performances. they usually kicked ASS or sucked. mickey thomas can sing his ASS off. too bad he is/was such a fucking douche.

  • GTA IV

  • A very underrated song.

  • It appears to me that, of the women who performed at WOODSTOCK in 1969, Grace Slick was the one who was underrated. People talk about Baez and Joplin, but not her; Why is that? That drives me nuts!

  • Comment removed

  • @kja427 I've heard people talk about her. She's actually quite famous and has alot of fans, so don't feel too bad for her.

  • good song

  • Is this in the Hult center, Eugene Oregon?

  • when you make a top 20 all time list of vocalists in rock You gotta put Mickey Thomas in there

  • this was one of my fav songs when i was growing up

  • Marty should have never left

  • This is so gruesome I could puke! People who wrote "Somebody to Love" team up with third class mouchtache Toto clone zombies. 80 were definitely the worst decade ever.

  • @chainrelease bullshit, mickey was lead vocs on elvin bishop's ''fooled around and fell in love'' bro.

  • @chainrelease you clearly don't understand music and just because a song was produced in the 80's that doesn't mean it was bad, at all. Some of the best of The Who came from the 80's so just keep quiet when u don't know what your talking about.

  • great tune.

  • I love this, not like it!!

  • I thought this song was titled "Change." I'm a dumbass.

  • holy fuck this dude's voice is awesome

  • Craig still plays today.. but he's into Jazz guitar nowadays...

  • Singer is Mickey Thomas

  • Check out the sweet moves at 2:34.........And then like it!

  • What's the singer's name??? Guess I can look it up:))). He's killing' it.

  • So into this tune right now

  • What a voice!! A rare breed these days, these were the days when we had awesome vocalists.

  • Mickey had to wear a mustache due to people in the audience thinking he was Grace.

  • Fuck the cowbell, it needs more piano

  • More Fucking Cowbell !!!

  • i'm a 90s baby and i enjoy this era

  • @DaSolidAce same!

  • fun fact: those style moustaches are called pussy ticklers

made up fact: pussy ticklers are referred being referred when the phrase "sit on it" is used.

  • This was in the suggestions when I clicked on Aldo Nova's Fantasy.....................I can understand why--the keyboard riff in this song most certainly inspired the one in Fantasy.

  • Dana Carvey on lead

  • Great song!

  • gotta be my all time fave song..

  • Comment removed

  • It kind of reminds me of "Hold the Line" by Toto. I mean, you've got the guitar riff, the triplet motif on the piano, and the singer sounds sort of like Bobby Kimball.

  • starship live at winnavegas tonight with brett michaels

  • Is the singer with mustache Tonny Iommi from Black Sabbath? Ha ha =D =D just kidding.

  • looks like richie sambora king of swing..

  • Man I love this song! kicks ass!

  • Mickey Thomas-one of the most underrated voices in rock n' roll.

  • MAGNUM STACHE!!!!!! MICKEY THOMAS RULES!!

  • Good Vibe!

  • Mickey Thomas vocal kick ass on this. Great live song.

  • Killer song

  • Holy crap, a B.C. Rich Mockingbird. Haven't seen one of those in about 20 years.

  • Napa County Fairgrounds, 1983! You rocked my world, Grace! BEST CONCERT of my life! And that's saying something!

  • the clothes,no, but the music was on in every area!!!:}

  • I need more cowbell Grace Slick!!

  • The 80's were the best!

  • @n2motocross

    no way the 80's is the best....what a joke for music in general :{

  • @peckish the joke is now, what the hell has happened to music.

  • @n2motocross fuck you :)

  • @angelonintendo You want to fuck me?

No thanks, I'm not a faggot.

  • @n2motocross sorry, youre not a 'faggot', you are just retarded retarded.

  • @angelonintendo You mean...now you want to fuck a retarded person? Thats weird.

..you need to quit why your ahead in order to save face my friend.

  • @n2motocross not an 80s song

  • @n2motocross They were more 70s dude

  • @n2motocross This band formed in the '60s. Played acid rock in San Francisco. One of the headliners at Woodstock in '69. They held their own at every stop in every generation. Including the '80s.

  • @kilts4u2 Oh yeah! I agree. Jefferson Airplane! Great band.

  • I don't know a thing about guitars but that one handed guitar solo seems awesome!

  • I don't know what Dean Winchester's problem is. Jefferson Starship is pretty awesome.

  • @BeanerWalson Supernatural is tied with Breaking Bad for my favorite show on TV, but when Dean started slamming Jefferson Starship I was pretty pissed. lol

  • @progrocker69 Haha, to be honest, I had never heard of JS until Supernatural, then I found an old vinyl that had 'Jane' on it. I listened, I liked. So I guess we should blame it on the writers of the show, lol.

  • @progrocker69 I love supernatural lol

  • THIS is a great live version of my favorite Starship song! Just awesome!!

  • no best rated comment here ??

  • one of my favorite songs

  • Now I know from where Aldo Nova got his riff for "Fantasy"

  • WTF? Grace and Paul dressing like typical 70's fools? I didn't expect bell bottoms and fringe leather vests but c'mon.

  • MICKEY THOMAS one of the BEST voices in Rock....very underrated!

  • @455Transam I couldn't agree more...He's right next to Paul Rodgers and Lou Gramm IMHO!

  • I'm here because of supernatural too, hahaha

  • Oh my, never knew this song was by Jefferson Starship. Had only heard a version by Roko in 1990. This dude has some serious pipes I have to say, when you can sing this great live you know you're gonna get laid :D

  • Holy crap, did that lead singer have an AMAZING voice. Rivals Steve Perry!

  • @nocere01 "mickey thomas"? kind of took over from grace slick....totally versatile...

  • Watched Woodstock the other day and thought of the other hits they were part of. This is one of the great rock tunes.

  • Jaynestown :D

  • great voice great song

  • not to mention that is one live guitar solo. Craig shakes and hammers the first notes longer ala Neil Young at first and then almost misses the last note. Still a genius solo for a #1 hit.

  • love'd it. one of the best voice's in rock music.

  • Grace slick on backing vocals... it's not right

  • Didn't like .. Love the song. Sounded exactly like vinyl 7inch 30 years ago. Mimed.

  • @824koumari This was not lip synced. I have seen them in concert before and they are one of the few bands that can duplicate the quality of their original recording. If you listen to the original version, there are many differences in the music and timing--especially some of the vocal cues.

  • what i will say is most of the stupid commentors have no idea whatsoever on what rock music is jefferson airplane or starship played some of the best right on music of their time

  • LOL.it doesn't even match his face

  • disgusting gay mustache

  • @Arctic5fox I will take 10 of those so called DGM's if only I could sing as great as he!!

  • EFLC Liberty Rock Radio \m/

  • Wet hot american summer!

  • @Samskies lol F yes

  • Epic

  • faces for radio - every one of them.

  • let's see I recognize...Mickey Thomas on vocals...Grace Slick backing vocals and lip-synch....David Freiberg, bass....Craig Chaquico, lead guitar...Paul Kantner, rhythm guitar (once voted worst guitar player in a major rock band, circa 1968)...Pete Sears?...keyboards..and Skip Spence?..on drums?...maybe?

  • Thumbs up if yer an old fart like me and remember that Jefferson Airplane's first female singer was named Signe Anderson in 1966...lol.

  • MICKEY THOMAS GETS 25 STARS ON THE PORN STACHE MAGUM JR.

  • Anyone know who that is on lead vocal? Good song but my whole life I thought it was Marty Balin, but that's clearly not him. Didn't know they had a different singer. I thought he was there for the entire Airplane/Starship time.

  • @TheRabidPosum It's Mickey Thomas. He was previously with Elvin Bishop and sang lead on "Fooled Around and Fell In Love."

  • Do a search on Wikipedia on Jefferson Starship band members.

  • Wow. Vocals are spot on! Chaquico has really been neutered through the years though.

  • Looks like that was recorded during the Winds of Change tour in 1983 (based on the t-shirt the guitarist is wearing)...saw them on that tour at Merriweather Post Pavilion in August 1983!! They sound fantastic here!!

  • ..is this the Best Versian presented here on YouTube of The Starship performing "Jane!"...(in a suppossed fair government of, for, and by The People)..they talk of how they will undo nearly 15 trillion; it's deficit; the USofA!..but it's only to permit themselves to Borrow More Money!..earthquakes..tseunamis..ah fck it.

  • @foxyroxstar How did you manage to work politics into a post about a great song, and why?

  • @91Bear ...perhaps not in the grand scheme of things but couldn't The Starship... Stop! You Know Why!...Talented Musicians..Artists..Songwriters..as The Kingdom of I Am Music and in taking! The FrontLine!....(that's pretty funny! 'How did you manage..to work politics...into a post about a great song and why!!!)

  • Kid Ink owned this beat!:)

  • this song is about my second cousin

  • i wish i could grow my mustache that thick.

  • wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Christina Cimorelli said this was her favorite song of all-time. Shocked the hell out of me.

  • im here because theres a artist by the name of Kid Ink whom recently did a song with a sample of this song. had to check this out. just like you all should check out what he did with it.

    _cIjmdUqFMA

  • @potplant420 If it's another hip hop artist sampling classic music in place of his own.... no thanks. But if it's something else. SWEET!

  • @jackcarver239 lol first off this is NOT classic music. nor is it a classic song, second off he is a hip hop artist and no the PRODUCER of the track credits this song for being sampled in the beat. i just think that when ppl sample older music and credit is givin, that it is cool to see what some talents can do with some song. check it out just erase all the random letters in the URL and replace them with the ones in my last post,

  • this is the best song ever

  • Thumbs up of you saw them at riverbend!

  • One often overlooks the fact that Grace Slick was always such a team player. She and Marty Balin were great together. Even here she's ghosting the words as Thomas sings, then steps up and does here bit. Unfortunately for those of us familiar with the original band this line-up was rather faceless and devoid of personality. But good all the same.

  • Mickey nails that high note in every live performance I've seen. What an incredible singer.

  • classic ..hardly played in uk

  • Thanks to GTA 4 for this awesome music

  • Is that Scott Mckenzie?

  • I was just wondering what a Jefferson Starship would look like in all its epicness and well I found it. DAMN YOU Superantural not like I didn't like enough classic head banging long hair what every you want to class all my favorties bands under, bands! GOD Dean... teehee I need to go to bed. Sorry people who all ready loved this band with out the help of pop culture refrences.

  • Wonder what year that was ? Looks like early 80s

  • thumbs up if youre watching this cause youre going to riverbend!!!!!

  • thumbs up if youre watching this cause youre going to riverbend!!!!!

  • @xtreme2571 don't forget "I'll come for you", I forgot the bands name.

  • @johnny0822 some members left the band to go in a different direction, but didn't want to stray from their well-known name, but also didn't want to be remembered as Jefferson airplane.

  • Someone wanna give me the story of how jefferson airplane became jefferson starship?

  • típica música do sobrenatural mesmo, adorei o nome do cara

  • Everytime i hear Starship im reminded how fantastic his voice is!!!!

  • @coindude69

    Tight undies..

  • Contemporary Youth Orchestra is playing with Jefferson Starship June 5th. Psyched!

  • does anyone else think it's rad that the guitarist had on a Jefferson Starship shirt?

  • thumbs up if your gonna listen to toto hold the line next (im so gonna get slated for this comment )

  • This is THEEEEEEE song!!!!! I can't wait to play it with Shark Sandwich!

  • Dean talk about this band in the last episode Supernatural :)

  • I had just come home after 13 months as a Marine in Vietnam....Just before went overseas, the Beatles were singing about a Day Tripper..The only Amercan band that even charted was as I recall the Byrds doing an old Dylan hot..Turn Turn turn..Tune In ...turn on...drop out..hadn't...yet..and Free Love was a weekend in Tijuana that cost you plenty..o say it was a cultural shock would mot give justice to how out of step I felt with the world..It took a while to ..get it

  • Thumbs up if u remember when Starship was called Jefferson Airplane around 1968 and Grace Slick married Paul Kantner for about 10 minutes...and Jack Cassady played bass, Jorma Kaukonen played lead guitar...and Skip Spence played drums.

  • Mickey Thomas..great hair...greater voice..I'm jealous of both...ha.

  • Thumbs up if u r an old fart like me and heard this on the radio in 1980...lol

  • Came here because of Grand Theft Auto Liberty Rock Radio. Great song.

  • Ahh okay jefferson starships dean :D:D

  • Dean Brought me here

  • That voice is outrageous. I don't know of any singer now who can hit such high notes so cleanly.

  • @mohawk5010 you should listen to Geoff Tate...

  • chez pas pourquoi mais le chanteur me fais pencé a mon pere XD

  • Usually I don't like live versions as well. But this time, I like this version way better!

Oh, and I love Justin Bieber, Kesha, and Eminem too. Guess I don't see why that's a problem.

  • thumbs up if Dean brought you here!

  • @viruspt Yea! :D

  • @viruspt Dean who?
