  • I've been saving my bacon and sausage grease!

  • Dog proof traps are pretty damn good even if they say dog proof and r made in china

  • Are the dogproofs the best type for coon? what type of sets can you use with the dogproff, and are they easy to use?

  • im about to be getting a few more, would you say it would be best to get a duke #1 coil spring?

  • @4986hunterofsouth If you want to use a foothold go with a 1.5 coilspring. Honestly, Im thru with coilsprings for raccoon, Im only buying dogproofs from now on.

  • do you think a #1 duke longspring would work fine for coon sets like that?

  • @4986hunterofsouth the trap may be fine for our small southern coon, but I would replace the crappy chain with some #2 straight link and add a mid-chain swivel.

  • what leg were you going for on the first set

  • Y ou could catch coon at the colvert with out bait. They like to travel thru them!

  • Coon actually stir the best in MO when it's cold and rainy

  • Iv lost alot of traps just using a straight rod in the ground that short....lol

  • @B1u3Dr4g0n1 1/2 in by 24 inch rebar. Im not setting in loose soil. Never lost a trap *knock on wood*.

  • can you catch coon out when it is raining

  • @MrCoolbreez01 Depends man. I have caught a lot of raccoon on light rainy warmer nights. If its a hard downpour and cold temps I doubt much will move.

  • @gatrapper what if it is a light rain and cool outside

  • I love these trap sets

  • Thanks man! Looks promising! I'm gonna try that second one tomorrow in the creek in our woods. I've found a bunch of coon tracks along it and in it. Season comes in tomorrow and its my first attempt at trapping. I can't wait!

  • Are you allowed to use snares in GA? Plop a couple on that trail !

  • @foxpiss746 9 inches i would guess. pinky to thumb finger is about 9-10 inches wide so thats how I judge.

  • have you ever heard of the shiny pan set?

  • @TheBubbagump101 Yes and honestly its a waste of time. I want quick efficient sets, dont want to spend my time with arts and crafts on the line.

  • @gatrapper yep i agree i had it recomended to me in just getting started and i would really like to learn all i can about coon trapping i usualy go for beaver and rats...but i really need to work on my fur handling skills i cant find a good video on fleshing beaver and i might just need better fleshing gear all i got is hand me down stuff...thx for the help

  • what does the night latch do? and what is it?

  • How many yots have you caught this season?

  • Great videos. Do you find you have better luck with the dog at the back or the front of the set?

  • nice video where in georgia are you?

  • great sets man i know most trappers are always looking for how to make sets faster and how to be able to carry less equipment so very helpful thank you

  • Yes, next time I go to night latch some more I'll try to remember to make a video.

  • Thanks for the vid. If you get any new traps, can you make a vid on how to night latch?
