@4986hunterofsouth If you want to use a foothold go with a 1.5 coilspring. Honestly, Im thru with coilsprings for raccoon, Im only buying dogproofs from now on.
@4986hunterofsouth the trap may be fine for our small southern coon, but I would replace the crappy chain with some #2 straight link and add a mid-chain swivel.
@MrCoolbreez01 Depends man. I have caught a lot of raccoon on light rainy warmer nights. If its a hard downpour and cold temps I doubt much will move.
Thanks man! Looks promising! I'm gonna try that second one tomorrow in the creek in our woods. I've found a bunch of coon tracks along it and in it. Season comes in tomorrow and its my first attempt at trapping. I can't wait!
@gatrapper yep i agree i had it recomended to me in just getting started and i would really like to learn all i can about coon trapping i usualy go for beaver and rats...but i really need to work on my fur handling skills i cant find a good video on fleshing beaver and i might just need better fleshing gear all i got is hand me down stuff...thx for the help
great sets man i know most trappers are always looking for how to make sets faster and how to be able to carry less equipment so very helpful thank you

Are the dogproofs the best type for coon? what type of sets can you use with the dogproff, and are they easy to use?

have you ever heard of the shiny pan set?
TheBubbagump101 10 months ago
@TheBubbagump101 Yes and honestly its a waste of time. I want quick efficient sets, dont want to spend my time with arts and crafts on the line.
