Those weak pushrod engines redline lower than the engine idle of an F1 car. F1 cars produce 800-900hp from 3 - 3.5 litre engines without the aid of any turbo or supercharger. 800 hp dumbass but because of theyre massive weight they cant go as fast.. the fastest stock car record was set at 212mph by bill elliot in 1987... straitaway speeds can reach up to 205 mph at california.. the super speedway tracks are limited in power by atleast 5% for saftey but it makes closer exciting racing. and the reddline of a stock car is 9500 rpm. and im glad to notice your the only one who gave me a negative on my reply. i can keep this up without even looking at a book pal. can you?

I'm glad NASCAR has made the changes they have, otherwise that almost certainly would have been fatal. But I am not going to praise NASCAR for being safety conscious. They should have made these changes YEARS ago. They were way behind other forms of racing. Adam Petty's death wasn't enough to wake them up. Tony Roper's death wasn't enough. Kenny Irwin's wreck wasn't enough. It wasn't until Dale Earnhardt died and the public outcry forced them to make changes, a day late and four drivers short.

Looks like Dale saved another one. That wreck had me shook up...I had tears in my eyes waiting to see movement from Reutimann, and it was really scary that they had to tell him TWICE to get out of the car because it was on fire...normally those boys are jumping out of the car at the first sign of fire. I couldn't believe it when he walked to the ambulance...I thought for sure they were going to be taking him out on a stretcher.
