This is how I trained my son and now he's winning the 65 class and keeps up with me out in the desert. I think I put him on the bike at the same age, or maybe 2+. I used a long tie down strap and hooked it on the fender frame of a JR-50
My son was about 16 months old when he learned to ride a regular bike w/out training wheels. When he was 24 months or 2 years (for those that don't like months) he could ride his dirt bike very well! I was shocked!
@censoredmunky If I would have said "1 year old riding a dirt bike" I would have gotten a ton of comments about how he wasn't 1 lol, this way there's no confusion about how old he is. Anyway, if you have kids you know there's a huge difference between a 1 year old and a 2 year old. Stop being so nit picky, he's little and doing something most kids his age (including his sister and brother) can't do.
@Ponchovillla14 The strap helped, if he wasn't turning and was going toward the road, a tree, etc, we could stop him. I'm glad we're passed that stage though, that was a lot of running!! :) We started our daughter on her 3rd birthday this past Saturday, no strap, and it's much easier lol. Her video is uploading right now.
cool to see the little one having a go .....there is a srew near the throttle you can ajust so it doesnt go full speed and you can just walk beside the bike try that out mate
@jjmdavo This video is older, he's 5 now and races. He actually did have the throttle limited but he wasn't able to make it up hill. He wanted to go faster, some things haven't changed lol
@Harry13ification, there was no wall! he did hit the ground like a rock! thats why the video cuts off right there! for what i know, those bikes can be adjusted, so that the kid does not speed up like seen in this video.
@jeremie1028, i wasn´t the one with the wall. but physics tell me, that he fell as soon as he reached that rain grove which can be seen right before the video cuts off.
Rock on kid!!! Kudos to dad here for teaching his kid about the MOST physically demanding sport on the planet!!! Dont let those overprotective wackos talk smack. This sport teaches your boy coordination, balance, strength, respect for speed and riding smart, mental toughness etc . The sooner the better!!!! Shred on it little man!!!! (if dad can keep up!)
@bodgearon oh and those tethers are so the child doesn't get too far when they are just starting out. They can also be pulled to kill the engine. They come with all of these bikes. Judging by the videos he lost the tether at age 2. It is just a safety feature for young beginners, which is why it isn't dangerous.
@bodgearon I am not the uploader so I don't know why you are addressing me. He can learn plenty. Hand eye coordination, motor skills, balance, steering, and of course how to operate these properly. Many pros started as toddlers. What makes you think he would have more fun on a bicycle? Not all kids are the same. And those are a bit harder to operate. He is at least 4 now according to the other videos and better than the average 4 year old. I could see he was riding well by age 2.
he will learn nothing at that age on a motorbike, he have more fun on a pedal bike. you must think its dangerous cause your runnimg after him like a nutter with a lead attached to the bike. best advise is to put it away till he is about 4 or 5.
@bodgearon (sorry my response is delayed) My son and his riding abilities do not make us bad parents. We (obviously) took every safety precaution. This was safer than a Power Wheels, he had on a helmet and there was a strap attached to his bike; would you have an issue with a child riding one of those?
Roman is now almost 5 (July) and he is racing and doing very well. He does enjoy his pedal bike, but he loves to ride. Thanks for watching his video.
@bodgearon You're never too young to start riding. Plenty of kids start at around 1 1/2 to 2. And what the hell does that last part mean? I'm pretty sure he's fine. If you look at the other videos he's 4 now.
