  • In Roger's defense he was minding his own business and only responded when Alex provoked him

  • @adheckle But after giving a rebuttal to Alexandra, he didn't walk away and leave. He decided to continue to wreak havoc and spew out nasty words and ruin Nick and Mindy's engagement party. After he threw Dylan over the rail, he should have then left. But he just continued to go after Alex, not giving a damn that he was ruining Nick and Mindy's engagement party. Roger just wanted to piss off all of his enemies (Billy included), that's why he continued on and ruined the party.

  • Is the actress who played Bess the same one who played the Cortland housekeeper on All My Children?

  • Thank you I'm a lighter to the end but this is when P&G had proud in their soaps, I would love loooooong clips and stories with Beverly McKinsey.

  • this is GRADE A acting. Michael Zaslow's scene will Jenna can stil stand up to this very day!

  • EXCELLENT thing Jenna ended up with Buzz instead of Roger!!!

  • this was roger at his greatest.

  • roger thorpe best villian on daytime ever

  • guiding light always got snubbed!

  • my fav soap sequence OF ALL TIME!!!!!

  • @losmania29 Mine too!!!!!! Roger and Zaslow was on FIRE!

  • It's amazing how lightning struck twice with another major Roger / Alex "explosion" at the country club...despite the fact that there was a recast Alexandra and Mindy.

  • Watching this and watching today it is hard to see the same show.

  • I just realised... Fiona Hutchison bears a striking resemblance to fellow Brit, Kate Bush :)

  • Roger Thorpe was tough for a soap opera villian, he could handle himself. Guys like JR Ewing had to have people fight for him, Roger took care of business on his own.

  • I agree. btw, Guiding Light should have won "best drama series" for their work in 1992 and 1993. they got cheated out of a couple of daytime emmys.

the emmy people hardly ever get it right.

  • "...and may you go to hell tomorrow, Roger!"

  • This is one of my all time fav GL moments. I was in my early teens at the time, but it was so easy to get swept up in the power of all those actors in that last scene. Marj Dusay ate up that damn scenery....u can just see the venom coming from her mouth as she curses at Roger

  • This was the best time of Guiding Light for me. I wish it could have grown from this and not changed to what has happened in the last 5 years.

  • wow!!! i am just blown away buy the intensity and drama and galmour. its hard to believe that gl is crap now.

  • did u see how holly told roger to get out of there? she still loved him then...even after everything that happened! she didn't want him hurt!

  • This was back when GL was good, and had good acting, Today it is just sad.

  • It is so very sad--

They can't make a good story no matter what they start with

  • I know! Even if they come up with an ok idea of a storyline they just mess it up.

  • Are you kidding me? GL is utter crap now I was watching it just yesterday it made me want to puke. Roger Thorpe made me want to tune in Beverlee McKinsey was another Daytime legand like Zaslow to pass away. :( It is sad yes!

  • I can't even watch 2 minutes of the show without turning, it's so bad now. That camera work, the acting, the writing and that music they play. All terrible. David Kreizman needs to take notes from GL from the past he's doing a terrible job as headwriter.

  • Toward the end-- this is day time at its best. Where is the masterpieces today? Zaslow was also a great writer and a great influence on the writing team.

  • Outstanding actor the show has taken years to recover his loss and in some ways it still has not recovered

  • Man, the end of this video is WILD!

  • Check out the other two video responces

if you think this is wild lol

  • Who's the old woman at 9:46? I don't recognize her.

  • That's Bess Lowell--she had been Brandon's

secretary and Mistress--she knew all about

and had papers that disputed Jenna's claim to Spaulding--everyone was trying to get her to tell the truth and she was bleeding everyone

for all it was worth--That's what I remembers very sketchy

  • One of the most exciting GL scenes..thank you patc2000

  • Whose baby was it?

  • Hi-Peter is Hart and Bridget's son--making Roger

Peter's grandfather--that's why all the people wanting

    to get rid of Roger

  • Why would people want to get rid of Roger because he is his grandson?

  • do you have thevideo where billie lewis beats roger up???

  • I posted the video above--enjoy

  • It's at the top of the page lol

  • That was Awesome, I rated this video a 5. Check out Roger Thorpe's myspace.

    www.myspace.com/rogerthorpe

  • Michael Xaslow was a phenomonal actor. He was one of the best villians on daytime. I started watching the light in the early 90s, and he was of the main reason I got hooked. I never missed a day of the light. Thank you for providing the footage. May you rest in peace Micheal.

  • Roger Thorpe was the most ruthless villian in soap hisotry, anytime the SL involed him I was glued to the tube. This is classic stuff here, I forget who did shoot Roger?

  • Billy Lewis shot Roger and unlike people most characters who commit crimes today, Billy went to jail

    Thanks for the comments people

  • the show is nothing like that anymore I miss that one back in 93

  • Ok, lost here...who shot him?

  • Classic Guiding Light. Thanks for this, it's great!

  • Hi--thanks I have plenty more to come--

    come see my website--http://devoted.to/astheworldturned--
