The sound and the hearts that created the music here shall live on forever. I may be sad that the "Dead" universe or cathedral of sound they created may not be "alive" and touring today. But it and they live on inside me and all those who ever believed in the music that could take you there. Long Live Jerry and the Boys!!!
Many and deep thanks to you, slipnutt, and to everyone else along the way who enabled this little slice of space/time to wind up here, for our collective memories.
how bout fucking banging.....the Grateful Dead jammed harder than any other band in this freaking universe.....they could be playing row jimmy and blow ur mind.....Damn, i miss the ole Grateful Dead!!!!!
This is when it was real. Just stop into the local hash den and play a little acoustic set and then play some electric music on borrowed equipment. This is the stuff i miss most about these guys i am just glad i was able to catch this kinda stuff.
Fact it they cancelled a show in France (that's where i was instead of amsterdam) at the last minute and they did this gig instead, played Hully Gully, Gloria n others amazing stuff. But the date is actually wrong on this. It was on Bob's Birthday, ergo: 10/16/81. You can hear it on the tape too... he's shall we say quite tipsy!
I highly recommend this gid! It's on archive. Thanks for upload, i'd never seen actual images
For Bob's birthday the entire band was at Melgweg. This is quite obviously only Bob and Jerry and did happen on the date posted. The end credits on Jack-a-roe for this date has the set list for this night although I saw someone post a set list that included an encore and On the Road Again.
@YEMbyphish LOL! I almost was, see my comment. Was in Nancy instead... Lucky then I saw Paris & Barcelona, & had been all the nights in London.
After all that, it was too much for this European (who should have been born elsewhere) so... After Barcelona, I ended up in Pittsbrugh PA and did that whole winter tour. I eventually moved to Marin County, CA, where the guys are from.
gives a lot of credit to Bobby eh
