Triumph ruled heavy metal day. Most of the "legends" Ozzy, Crue and especailly Van Halen were drunk and off. Look up Triumph's set. Rik Emmett was the man! Best short set of the day easy.

@aitraining Everyone has an opinion, but the Crue and Ozzy were not Drunk or off as in. Motley was playing for more than a few thousand for the 1st time, everyone but Tommy has nerve issues. Ozzy's band had not played in nearly two months, so ya they were off but not drunk. The only drunk that day was Roth and VH had a crap gig. Triumph was good that day, but the Scorpions stole the show IMO. Again opinion, but it was cool to be at the largest attended one day fest show ever on US soil. Peace

Scorps were good but don't forget Triumph flew in across the country from Florida, Gil Moore not using his own drums. Rik was Amazing dude. Give the man his props. Triumph was the band of the day. Tight as hell. Watch it!

Amazing fucking performance by Jake E. Lee. He didn't copy Randy, and added a little bit of his own twist. I can't believe how hard it would have been to fill Randy's shoes at that time. He did a great fucking job. But oh god, those keyboards just fucking ruin it.

That is not the way it sounded that day, I was there it rocked. Jake E Lee sounded great and so did Ozzy. I was about 100 yards from the front of the stage. This was the most awesome concert I have ever heard LIVE !!!  Oh and there were about 300,000 others people at this concert as well. This was one year after Randy Roads died. I really wanted to see Randy at this concert.

That's no hate or disrespect at all. As I said I was at these shows. But even in magazines like Hit Parader, Circus, Creem, etc. All their top this and that rankings never had Randy at the top. It's was Eddie, Angus, Ace, and even Brian May of Queen. This was the late 70's early 80's time frame.
