The attraction for making this video is the strong graphics that complement the Glass composition. The view cannot see, however, the posted speed limit in the signage suspended from the ceiling of the tunnel. It's 50 mph. Why is the driver speeding at 64 mph in a zone designated as a landslide risk?
Glenwood Canyon is a special place. It's really too much to assimilate by automobile. My main character, in my current fictional work, has decided to conduct his anthropological field study in this canyon. The canyon divides the area geologically with its chasm, biologically as a border that migrating wolves do not cross, and culturally as a zone where man ventures into the wild or decides to stay put. Glassian compositions provide a zone where the imagination can let loose.
Le morceau s'intitule "The Canyon" effectivement et est une pièce à part entière, tout en se trouvant associé aux compositions de "Itaipu". Album superbe d'ailleurs, orchestrée par Atlanta Symphony, sous la direction de Robert Shaw.
The piece is called "The Canyon" really and is linked to compositions of "Itaipu". Superb album besides, orchestrated by Atlanta Symphony, conducted by Robert Shaw.
I lived in Eagle at the time this segment was built. At that time, only US6 went through the canyon and the road wold be closed for hours while they dynamited the canyon to make room for I-70.
The sad thing is that at the eastern end of the canyon were some hot springs. I think they are gone now due to this construction.
I miss the single lane going through the canyon; that was special.
Great. I thought it would have been better if the camera was outside the car, but I like seeing the speedometer. Its great to sync up music with driving experiences.
hehe i remember driving with my family to and from denver several times when i lived in glenwood. nice being able to see it again. even if it is on video. ^_^
Very nice! They way the speedometer glows though the tunnel and the Philip Glass music make it look like some sci-fi movie. Nice speedomter btw, very high tech. What car is that?
Don't have to imagine driving this road, I've done it many times but alas not to this music. It is truly spectacular and the photography doesn't really do it justice. Good video though.
