  • Two Megabytes of Chip Memory!!!? :O

    but how's that even possible!!

  • @alvisc2002 funny,the good ol days.

  • Now THAT is an Amiga mustache.

  • I remember when Computer Chronicles use to come on PBS..

  • Amiga 500, 1000, 2000 were all 10 years ahead of the rest and pushed the industry in ways we can perhaps never quantify. The culmination of Jay Miner's life work which started with Atari and the TIA chip and ended with the OCS Amigas. The chip designs of the Atari 8 bit machines and OCS Amigas are so similar (CTIA, ANITC, POKEY == DENISE, AGNUS, PAULA). Yeah F**K WINDOZE :-)

  • @fortressofcomfort The funny thing is that the Amiga OS was between 256 and 512 megs ,depending on the operating system's version, and performed the same basics as the Window OS.

  • now ive got an erection

  • The icons appear faster than on my 2 GHz dual core laptop!!!

  • Holy Motherboard its all there!

  • Did you HEAR THAT people of young age... 2 MEGABYTES of chip ram and 16 MEGABYTES OF RAM. Not gigs... megs.

  • Amiga runs windows 7 ultimate??

  • I still have my A3000. I'll tell ya though, putting 16 megs on the motherboard is NOT fun. Those screwy zip chips are _worse_ than dip-style ones, since the area you have to press on is quite narrow. Still, 31khz display/FF, SCSI controller, 32-bit chipram, full ECS chipset -- it was quite the machine. I believe Sun(?) wanted to license them for low end workstations at one point....

  • he double-clicked where he was supposed to single-click!

and oh that was a fast double-click he had there!

  • can run teh crysis?

  • Will it blend?

  • Чё он там пиздит по нерусски? Он хочет впарить эти дрова по ходу))))

  • can u believe it ? if microsoft didnt save mac (when both mac and amiga were near to go BOOM) and saved Amiga instead then i would type on a computer thats better than mac and windows together right now!

  • @Sonny0612

Since when did Microsoft save Mac.

It was Steve Jobs and his NeXt company that saved Apple.

  • @snake2006 it wasn't next that saved apple it was Bill Gates that helped Steve save apple

  • @Warslaine

Yes it was, and Jobs used the OS he was making for NeXt in the new iMac's. So it was a combination of both that saved Apple.

  • Fonts for the blind?

  • @muzvh1 yeah they need fucking huge fonts

  • @XSnowmanDK

as an IT professional myself, I agree with you 100%...Quality seems to be less and less of a factor these days and its sad..The amiga was a lasting machine and I still have an old Amiga 3000 and I use it still for various applications.. 22 years old and still going strong...

  • Better than Vista & Windows 7. I have to admit I still use XP. FTW!

  • Still better than the latest Ubuntu release.

  • The Amiga was powerful but it had an UGLY GUI.

  • GEEK POWER!!!

HELL YES I LOVE IT WHEN THEY TALK GEEK. LOL

    F**K WINDOWS!!! :-)

  • that guy's gunship glasses are too cool

lol @ fonts for the blind!

  • that guy's gunship glasses are too cool

  • what a ugly OS!

  • @anderzom Hey, considering computers at the time were lucky to have a GUI at all (much less a color one!), That's pretty good.

  • @spacehelmetforacow apple OS it was a lot better GUI in 1990 than that from amiga 3000

  • @anderzom , that's debatable. In 1990 the best mac os was system 6. Also most users at that time were using black and white macs, not color like all Amiga users. System 6 also suffered from a LOT of shortcomings in terms of useable memory, hard drive size, and total files allowed per drive. None of which the amiga 3000 suffered from. While system 6 had more 'eye candy' than the amiga os, to say it was better is subjective at best.

  • @anderzom it's most advance megados in 1990 i bet you're a kid and doesn't know, try vintage computer that purchase from 1992, you'll see black and green DOS machine.

  • fuck u

  • When will Microsoft implement fonts for the blind?

  • @jkadoodle lower screen res works fine for any OS

  • My first computer was an Altair 8800. I still have it :)

  • @UberLifeTroll As in Assassin's Creed Altair? Or nvidia 8800 GT? You are confusing.

  • Amiga Fever!

    ;-)

  • Amiga is way ahead of its time. It was a bloody crying shame it got run into the ground by management

  • Wow I remember this show very well, COMPUTER CHRONICLES !!

Geek Heaven with a bag of popcorn!!

  • You can change the color :)

  • 1:43 : "Amiga DOS....ähm sorry...Amiga Vision" xDDD

  • LOL... 16MB!!!

  • @CanadianHitman08

    Remember the first playstation?

33 MHz, 2 MB main RAM, 1 MB video RAM.

Storage? hmm memorycards of 128 kb each!! :-D

  • @blenderuser Yes I do.. my first computer was a Pentium 100 with 16MB of Ram and Windows 98!! LMA0. My Mac right now only has 2GB and that's hardly anything now a days!

    xD

  • AMIGA rules, my Amiga1200 is still working as we speak in my living room connected to my LCD, and thankx to the web i've got all the games you can remember and other kind of programs, and my Amiga 500 is kicking ass also...ans less but not least my commodore 64 is alive and well also....who needs playstation??? LOL

  • im done with this windows/mac bullshit, amiga come back and build us a new kick ass machine that will last another 5000 years

  • @udsuresh0t

Minimig, SAM 440, SAM 460, Pegasos 2 and MiniMacs PPC with MorphOS and OS X PPC already here!

AmigaX1000 and Natami yet to come!

  • @rasvoja Amiga x1000, that's the one im waiting for :D

  • @udsuresh0t

Well, AmigaOS 4, Linux PPC, MorphOS and MacOS X PPC are well optimized and no need for such monster (yet). Current SAM 460 setup runs it blazingly fast at half price and at the first days WHEN X1000 is out, other core and XMOS will not be supported, until OS 4.2 or beyond. OK, its good ratio price/performance in AmigaWorld as you will get more then twice SAM 460 performance at the end with twice price, but you will have to wait. And its way too much for East Europe and most of world

  • amiga 3000: the freedom of choosing font size

  • I still have my A4000 sitting in the loft gathering dust! I can now run everything I had for it on one of my Laptops using an emulator lol

Oh the irony... and the money I paid for the fucker!!!

  • Amiga kicked arse big style shame Commodore screwed it up trying to break into the pc market

  • I like the style of the guys, where i get this clothes? :D

  • I know its probably been said, but I do miss the happy days with Amiga. Most of my teen yrs. were spent on the mighty Amiga. With that being said. The technology has moved so fast over the past 25 yrs. I wonder where we'll be in 25 yrs.

    Thanks for the upload :-)

  • SCSI, Genlock, Super Hi Res and VGA Mode, Zorro slots

Amiga 3000 was the best and most pro Amiga made by CBM beside Amiga 1000 with MS DOS emulator :-)

Love it, altough rare and expensive. Hope AmigaOne X1000 will be enjoyed as much this year

  • did you see that microsoft where you paying atention because thats how a computer is sopposed to run. i fckin hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate you windows. i am using xp it has pretty much ruind me from its poor coding (you built your os & gui on sand microsoft freakin sand IDIOTS. 1amiga love 4eva

  • @DARKJURNEY Dont bag on an 8 year old os. Try 7.

  • @Bioshot11 . 8 years of trouble . i am looking forward to 7 though ,i do still have trust in microsoft ,

  • @DARKJURNEY

See that emulated box on green and black monitor with just text? That is Microsoft product of 1985

And win ... nooo ... dont type it. Now go and format c: /y

  • @vojinvidanovic79 ,,yes yes we all love uncle billy

  • @DARKJURNEY

Actualy I was thinking of another video

Amiga World Premiere July 23rd 1985 with Andy Warhol Part 1 (New York Lincoln Centre)

  • @vojinvidanovic79 ...lols i should have bean paying attention ,that actualy sounds pretty interesting

  • @DARKJURNEY stupid kid. Go back with in stone age your dighead without microsoft your stupid tv or radio or car or whatever you using will not work moron. Even your foon mobile or whatever crap u use is mircosoft. Get a live respect them like you respect amiga.

  • @Xextreem . dont have radio or tv & the 3d meta map that my cars cpu runs was programed and constructed in germany by bosch & i think most phones use arm proscessing wich is not of microsoft origins. but i know what your saying its just i get pissed of thinking of the hundreds of hours work i have lost through windows not starting back up. my relationship with windows is an extreme of love & hate

  • @Xextreem

    Gay

  • 1 BILLION times better than the pc of 1990.

  • Hedley Davis reminds me of Judge Reinhold :D

  • He STRIKES BACK!!!

    THE AMIGA ONE X1000 !!!

  • it would seem bill gates has ripped everyone off i do remember the workbench 1.3

  • in Portuguese amiga means friend lol

  • @PaVa9500 amiga means "female friend" in spanish and in portuguese

  • @lyricjam ohh yeaa true x)

  • the amiga guy is (talking) faster than the amiga itself. ;)

  • "fonts for the blind" ...

  • hey ....windows! :-)

  • Im only 13 but the Amiga is the computer that i still appreciate the most.

  • pc programming shit Amiga programing requires experience programing.

  • Amazing. A true multimedia machine before that word was even in vogue!

  • 'Computer Chronicles'... These kinds of programmes are gone

  • This is like going back in time....

  • Wow! 16 megs of fast ram in 1990!

  • io 16 megabit l'avevo nel 1997 erano troppo avanti nn ce' niente da fare w la commodore e l'amiga...peccato sia fallita per colpa di qualche idiota.

  • @gorzyga DAMN!!! my A500 only had 512Meg CHIP and 512Meg SLOW RAM... i always wanted an A3000!!!!

  • @ObsoleteAcey : 512 KILOBYTES of CHIP and 512 KILOBYTES of SLOW - not MEGABYTES! ;)

    Cheers!

  • @gorzyga haha yes! Thanks for the correction. Been so long i'm just use to everything being megabytes and gigabyes now hahahahahaha

  • @ObsoleteAcey Yeah the stock Amiga 500 had 512 Kilobytes... I upgraded mine to 1 whole megabyte. :P

I loved my Amiga 500. I still have it.

  • Wow! That's a power tie!

  • I bet these virgins are still virgins today.

  • ever heard about cybersex xD hahaha

  • But very rare, an Amiga 500 would be easier to find though.

  • Where can you buy one of these? Or an Amiga 500??

  • ebay. A500s go cheap, but a decent a3000 with 040/060, gfx card etc will set you back the same as a brand new pc - quite sought after.

  • is that correct, that A3000 could address up to 4 GB of RAM back then, which made it actually more advanced that PCs of not-so-long ago? :D

of course who could afford 4 gigs back then? cost of a luxury car, I guess. Most professional software cost about the same, though

  • snds awesome ~

  • SWEET COMB-OVER!

  • its a shame how all competition went down... in front of Bill Hell Gates...

  • @KareemAbawi havent you heard about the latest amiga operating system amigaos 4?

  • lol amiga

  • Funny hey, How a 20 year old computer is still technically more advanced than a new pc.

Oh well, thats what happens when you have a great salesman (Gates) selling a shit product (Windoze). :(

  • C'mon, still??

I remember buying that in 1998, when Windows was still based on DOS, and I remember how I clung to the idea that the foundation of the Amiga was technically better.

But my stepdad's laptop could do so much more than my A1200. Fifteen years since Windows95 came out, by now you should realise the Amiga is best as a fond memory, instead of making Amiga fans look stupid. "More advanced than a new PC" - in what possible way?

  • @Nibbbling I used Amiga's from 1990 until 2000 solidly literally EVERY day and i recently got any Amiga 1200 up and running again a few years back after about 6 years gathering dust, but as much as i loved the Amiga and still think its a wonderful machine, i must concur that the man in these comments that referenced the Amiga as being more than advanced than a new PC is somewhat deluded.

The "architecture" behind the Amiga OS is more advanced but in 2010 nothing more.

  • @Nibbbling Well I still use a Amiga (typing this to you) With a VOODOO card and

a PPC processor it still can be compared today but not in graphics, I still use it because of its fantastic and unique Operating system !, And there is a New amiga coming out :)

  • OLD SKOOL :_D

  • (Looks fondly over at his A3000 sitting on the nearby shelf)

    Amiga Forever.

  • wow who cares about cursors? as long as it works -_-

  • bill gates fucked them all with windows

  • Commodore pretty much fucked itself with all its bad choices (the A600, the CD32, shelving the A3000+ in favor of a crippled A4000...)

The (in)famous AAA chipset could have been competitive if it was released in 1993, but it wasn't yet ready when Commodore went out of business in 1994.

  • Noone bought the A3000 - was too expensive when it was released.

  • You'd be surprised. A lot of corporations, companies, tv studios etc purchased A3000s with the famous toaster system, of course, the average Joe rarely could afford one.

  • the comment is considerd spam sorry =(

  • Comment removed

  • look how fast it changes menus and programs! i feel bad for people that bought their dual core laptops with vista for probably the same price

  • Amiga embodies efficient ellegant design. My A1200 060 runs circles around my Win 7 machine for most simple tasks. Of course, it boots in like 5 seconds.... as opposed to 7, which is about 40 seconds.

  • @MachineGuNate

its running fast because theres nothing to run..

  • @ZoldierrZzz

And in 640x480, with all the 4 colours of the rainbow.

  • @MachineGuNate actually the amiga 3000 costed 5000$ back then, in todays money, thats about 9000$

  • @MachineGuNate thatäs no problem for this Amiga, not much stuff on it compared todays computers with HDD's that does have Terabytes on it.,

  • what a diference

  • The primary designer for the Amiga also designed the Atari 8-bit machines.

  • wow I remember I used too watch Computer Chronicles

  • i Build my computer Inside my Amiga

Replaced all parts yust becos i love the ammiii

  • no se ni que pedo pero jala mas q mi pentium 4

  • Amiga Rulez. Commodore sucks!

  • o_O??? What?! Think before posting XD... Who was the producer of Amiga? Commodore!!! Commodore was a company!

  • The Amiga was originally designed by a small company called Amiga Corporation. Amiga company was purchased by Commodore.

In 1994 Commodore bankruptcy and this fact kill Amiga...

  • from wikipedia...

Commodore International bought Amiga Corporation and introduced the machine to the market in 1985.

In the fact, Amiga computers are from Commodore because they sold them

  • No, the company was originally called Hi Toro. They changed the name after the Amiga project began because Toro was the name of a Japanese Lawnmower company and people kepy mistaking them for the same company. :)

  • @ega76

... or set AmigaOS free for future development. Bad Amiga managment

made greatest computer a marketing failure with CDTV, A500+,A600+,AGA delayed,

    CD32 and AAA delayed

  • Been to the computer chronicles website and was watching through these videos 8 hours solid. Very entertaining watching what people thought the future would bring, and some of the technology from the past is fascinating. Thanks very much for posting.

  • Amiga is not dead, that is correct. It is still around in a fashion. Go search for stuff like Sam 440EP on Google, it's a PPC based mainboard which ships with AmigaOS 4.1. There's also MorphOS, which is an off-shoot of AmigaOS.

The "Classic" 680x0 based systems are long gone though. Only available second hand/refurbished.

  • Actually, there is now more Amiga activity than there has been since the late 90s. We have Aros, MorphOs, AmigaOS 4, AfA etc.

Classic systems are still sold new from Vesalia etc! :) Also, check out the Minimig project and another aga amiga clone being developed, cant remember the name.

  • Amiga kicked mother fucking ass, it was way ahead of it's time, even more advanced that windows 3.1 or even 95 for that matter.

  • Can i use this computer to run the latest games?

  • Yeah, crysis runs at 1280x1024

  • Crysis Minium Requierements:

    Amiga 500 (recomended A2000)

    1 MB Ram (recomended 8MB)

    AGA Graphics

    Floppy

  • holy shit that's off the hook, those sepcs should run Crysis on very high everything with 90 fps!

  • yeah xD It runs perfectly in my C64

  • I need the monitor for my amiga 500

  • 1990 and what happend when amiga died ???

  • Amiga never died! :D

  • Commodore closed its doors in 1993 if thats what you mean.

  • Amiga did not die! Commodore died because of its own bad management mistakes. good for the Amiga because it was released from bad management hands.

  • @SCOBYsnacks

1993/4 Commodore died, but AmigaOS went PowerPC and continued to develop to this very day as AmigaOS 4.

Even alternatives such as AROS and MorphOS exist, but its just not mainstream and there are fakes like

CUSA. Read Wikipedia Amiga and AmigaOS

  • "Computer Chronicles" - I remember that show; thanks!!

  • Computer Chronicles > G4 TechTV.

  • Computer Chronicles = PBS

  • YES

    AMIGA RULES

  • It was told that Steve and Bill are both stealing the idea of window based computing environment from Amiga?

  • No, really the window metaphor originated at Xerox/Parc. The Amiga led the way with multitasking (neither mac nor pc did real multitasking at the time), and graphics/video capabilities. But all 3 took the window metaphor from the Xerox/Parc work.

  • Wow. That AmigaOS looked good.

  • @darthchaosofrspw

... and still looks good with Amiga OS 4.1.2

  • I had one too, great at it's time. These guys must be retired or dead now or have they gone into consoles now?

  • I wonder that as well. :)

I had and sold an Amiga 1000 and I still have my Amiga 2000HD which needs a new HD to get it going.

I've been looking for Amiga1200 on ebay but seems to be a rare thing.

  • New, Thank's & Forward :D

  • dude I use to have this old computer back in 90s in my school when I was like 6yrs old or something. elementry school. I remember having the Apple Macs and black and green screen computers!

  • @ppg07863

Mo you haven`t Amiga 3000 was very professional and expensive at that time.
