as a canadian i say why rush to use this stuff up, light crude will soon be non existent , in time my kids will be driven a 90 mpg car. high oil prices will make this a reality. crappy easy tarsands ..not.

To add, the northwest pipleine to china will never happen! theres too much at stake ie ever try to clean up a cold stormy uninhabited coastline, of an oilspill in a canadian winter? One of the richest ecosystems on the planet: the pacific northwest ? capn hazelwood and exxon proved it.

As a Canadian who lives in Alberta, this is all I have to say to you Americans.

REJECT THE KEYSTONE PIPELINE. It is bad. Why? Not because it might be unsafe, or that the oil could be shipped off to China. But it will effectively force your country to buy this dirty crap for a long time.

It makes leverage for TransCanada to make you as a Country to purchase this oil, thus prolonging any reason or compelling force to invest into sustainable energy.

Simple as that.

How can you monitor a pipeline that long? That pipeline will travel through miles of territory with nobody around to even know there is a leak for days.

I guess the disease and death the tarsands are causing currently are "collateral damage. The Lupicon Tribe has been dragged through the courts for 20 years because they asked our Gov. for help when 19 of 21 births were stillborn, dead land, dead lakes, dead elders, dead culture, a 3x increase in cancer. Amnesty is now trying to help them with their battle against the tarsands.
