I think that if the ending were different, this would have been the song chosen as the main tune for the movie. As written, the ending of the song is exactly the same as "I'll Be There For You", the "Friends" theme. Maybe that made the producers shy away from this song so the movie didn't seem too contemporary.

I think this is the best song on the soundtrack album, even better than the "big hit". This song captures the jangly sixties type pop song sound so well. You could play this on an oldies station and folks probably wouldn't know the difference... LOL.

Great song, great movie. Those 4 guys were cast so well together and Tom Hanks was the icing on the cake. Liv Tyler was as beautiful as she's ever going to be too. The movie took place in a special period in America's history that will never be recaptured.

I am so fortunate to having been a teenager during that period of time (okay, the Vietnam War may have been somewhat problematic): Rascals, Beach Boys, Supremes, Byrds, on and on . . . and of course, The Wonders. So glad I got to see them in concert. I think that Tom Petty and The Bangles were huge affecianados of that period. You can hear that style in some of their music.
