  • The Hmong are mostly Christians, they and other tribes are exploited , and sometimes persecuted by the Viets, Notice how when you pay admission fees to go to villages it is the Viets that take the money!! , I just came back from Sapa, I am thinking of raising money to buy buffalos for them, any ideas ?? they are malnourished and often the women die in childbirth , they have no free medical service, I will probably spend a couple of thousand and help some of them.

  • You made two mistakes , 1. you should not look and ask the price if you do not intend to buy, no use raising their hope for a sale, 2, If you video them you should pay something to them, Sometimes they do not make a sale for two or three days , they have to pay Viet moto taxi to get back home to their village or walk the 5 to 10 K. Their menfolk work in the fields while they try and sell crafts, last winter many buffaloe died because of the extreme cold , a buff cost about $800.

  • the american woman in this video is making the rest of us look bad. 1:08 in. can't imagine traveling with someone like that.

  • Every day I'm hustling.lol

  • Hey that one young girl is mai sue! Lol

  • @AdOrAbLe4u you are rite..she is mai sue.

  • @AdOrAbLe4u that's what i was thinking!

  • If it had been me you were patronizing I not only stuck my tongue out at you but I also would have given you a decent bitch slappin you deserve....

  • @tscholent We were their patrons, as in we were purchasing things from them. But we were not patronizing these girls in the negative sense. While we would have loved to support each and every one of these sales women, it is not possible to do so. The girl stuck her tongue out because we did not buy from her.

  • i will go buy all of those things.....they are very importaint.

  • the noise of motocycle?

  • those stuff is like $2000 vnd ($ .10 usd). I'll just buy them all just to make them happy.

  • I was born in sapa, vietnam and i learned english from westerners, I am a black hmong i still miss this place

  • @hottoyboy where are you now?

  • those hmong women are so short, like me!

  • Oh, this made me cry cause I miss Viet Nam so much. Yes, you are very right - if you mean "no" you must say "no". If you say "maybe" and then say "no" later, people will call you a liar. It is not like here, where people say "maybe" just to be polite! Anyway, beautiful video, is just as I remember it.

  • hustlers at work

  • instead of chiclets its bracelet... lol

  • WOW.. so overwhelming.

  • the samething happened to me when i was there all the swarming girls but i didn't buy anything they gave it to me, not in the traditional way " here's a gift for you, smile" its more like (stuff the crap in your hand and run), i thought i had to pay for it all so i tried to returned it to them while they were runing away but my aunt said that they are gifts. haha

  • im hmong and thanks for uploading! its nice to see

  • a penny mean sooooo much to those children.. thanks for your support even if you have no used for those items purchased from those kids. how sad to watch such a poor country with very bad economic,..every one has to find a way to support themself .

  • wow..it is reall nice that you go to vietnam and take this videos to shared with everybody to see hmong in vietnam.anyway thanks to shared this videos..

  • Come on, the girl said only 1 doller I would have bought one from each. That would have been like 10 0r 15 bucks.

  • It's great to see the town of Sapa to see that the Hmong really do exist there in that part of Vietnam? Good clips.

  • i think at 2:13 one of them said one dollar you want picture. that was funny.

  • haha yes, that's exactly what she said. She also stuck her tongue out at me.

  • Next time you go to Vietnam take me with you. I will be your translator for thos Hmong ethic.

  • Wow, seems economic desperate. Maybe you need a translator next time. I wouldn't go to Sapa not unless you are ready to accept ethnic Hmong selling their crafts--the best part.

  • Pretty much all of the locals seemed to speak decent (enough) English, so communication wasn't a problem. We did have a guide, but he was only with us some of the time. We did buy a lot of stuff from the Hmong women, but my Mother was being too nice and wasn't saying "no" when she didn't want to buy anything... which led to these situations. It was a great experience though.
