The movie's ending reminds me so much of my parents at the end of their lives...and this song is one of my all-time favorites - by Three Dog Night - or anyone. Thanks for posting!!
The ending of this movie reminds me so much of the way my parents passed away (only two weeks apart) - and as close as these too, in the end. Thanks for putting my favorite song by Three Dog Night as a background to these great clips from the movie.
This was a special song between me and a dear friend back in the 70's (my high school years). I was born in April and my friend would say that with me he would always have a piece of April in his life. Such precious memories.
The most beautiful and natural girl that I had ever had the honor in knowing. April Meadows. You still are a dear friend in my heart. Thank you for being who you were back then and helping me to get over the bad days after the break with my high school sweetheart.
honestly, i'm not counting on it. but who knows? we might see each other again and not be able to help ourselves, like what happened to noah and allie in the movie.
I think this song has got to touch just about anyone with a heart. lol try slow dancing to it you will know what i mean. Goose bumps all the way. You are right number 1 all time love song.
One of the best songs from 3 Dogs Night. Don't understand why it wasn't included in their greatest hits album/CD. Love how this is dubbed to scenes from The Notebook. Great job!
I am a Nashville Songwriter and this song "Pieces of April" is one of the very best. Listen as it takes your breath away. A love story in itself. Thanks so much for a great song. The words are awesome. It will always stay in my heart
I was 15 when this song came out on Seven Separate Fools. Smoked a lot of hash to this tune. I thought for sure it would go to Number One. Still a ONE in my books!
I felt in love with this song when I first heard it on Around The World with Three Dog Night (live album from the 70's) Too bad it isn't included on their greatest hits CD. Before I saw The Notebook, I thought they had included it in the film. But alas, no. This song goes perfectly with the film. You have the ingenuity to set the music to it. Excellent job, Candlelitdreamz!
I first heard this song while waiting to ship out for Vietnam sitting on a top bunk in a dark barracks late one evening at Oakland Army Base looking across the Bay at San Francisco. I have always loved it and will never forget the song or the monment. I can listen to the song, close my eyes and still see those lights. That was 37 years ago. Great songs will live forever.
I know it's a little late Sir, but thank You for your service to our country. It's funny how a song can take us back to moment in time like it was yesterday. Regards. Patrick.
I know it's a little late Sir, but thank You for your service to our country. It's funny how a song can take us back in time like it was yesterday. I hope I posted this correctly this time. Regards Patrick.
cpt, I've always loved this song too. that's a great story from your past...I can almost visualize it and imagine what it must have been like for a young guy getting ready to head to nam. Thanks for your service
Incredible story! My great-uncle was in 'Nam as a MASH thoracic surgeon (also D-Day and Battle of the Bulge). He was one of last people airlifted off the Hanoi Hilton. He later went back and established a teaching hospital in Hanoi. He just died in 2005 at the age of 101. Bless bless you guys. I used to date a Vietnam vet, and boy, did he ever have horrific flashbacks.
We are from the same era...They were and remain one of my all time favs(I can't choose between them, CCR, Eagles and Bread...lol). Things seemed so much more simple back then.
Hey, I love Bread too. Have you heard Sail Around the World by David Gates? It is another tender love song with beautiful melody. I consider these 2 songs as over-looked gems.
Did not chart as high as it should have.. Three Dog Night was starting to wain.. They did recover some.. But, one of their best ballads, via the pen of Dave Loggins....
life would be so much better if we knew what was coming..we could avoid a lot of sand traps..lol on the other hand..sure would take the fun outta the surprises!
just do a youtube search-three dog night sings easy to be hard and it will come right up! The music is pre-recorded, but the vocals are live and fantastic!
