  • Wow, I just got back from their 2011 Riverside show and they did this same routine there. It made my eyes water and was probably the loudest thing I've ever heard. Sadly, I cannot watch this video in the same way ever agin. Seeing it in person and having my ears hurt ruined it for me :)

  • @milroxsox jealous!!!!!!!

  • Blue Devils will always be number one in my eyes.

  • Does anyone know where I can find that warmup online? I'd love to learn it

  • @theabyssaldemon its in the audition packet. you can buy it

  • เจ๋งสุดๆๆ

  • nice depth of field on that cam

  • anybody have the sheet music for the beginning warm up?

  • @milroxsox

It's easy enough to just write it out or use your ears...

  • wat are the chords used on this???????=)

  • those are some DIFFICULT arpeggios...GREAT JOB!!!

  • mis respetosssss

  • DEM SPACE CHORDS

  • We just got the 5d Mark II , it's AMAZINNNGG

  • Thank god for Wayne Downey on this planet, so we can all enjoy this fantastic music !!!!!

  • amazing pedals

  • man we do Blue Devils warm ups all the time and we can never get our chord progression to sound like that. Partially because our band is a smaller one, but still...

  • @Crich77x haha yeah... its just for show. good argument though.

  • I love the super g at the end, well done... But go cavies

  • At 1:22, my ears got a hard-on. At 1:35, my ears came!! Impressive camera work by the way.

  • 2009 trumpet section > 2010 trumpet section

  • @Garglemesh91 Agreed

  • If you look for "Blue Devils'" on YouTube , it seems to be like they just can do a worm-up and nothing alse... ;)

    But thats totaly wrong!! :)

  • I am just as impressed by the camera quality as the sound of the horns.

  • Lol, the hole in the dude's sweater at 1:53.

  • I totally need that camera dude!

  • very very very nice camera.... captures BD Horns the way they should be

  • Is that Bill Watson conducting? Looks JUST like him....

  • @mygarage95

    Yeah that's him.

  • is it only me or somehow bds' horn sound as tight as their snare heads

  • im not a brass player but dang that was awsome..... now lets put that nd ditty together... now we're playing..

  • why do they bend their knees?

  • @slhstoledo29 Cuz they can, and it looks sexy!

  • @slhstoledo29 To keep from getting a hernia is my best educated guess... lol.

  • well, at about 1:44 i peed a lil bit, and those amazing lows earlier in it, OMG

  • what a great balancing exercise, going from bottom heavy to top heavy and even it out. Wonder how many band directors would do that now.

  • beautiful

  • 1:45 G to a C?!?! OMG!!!

  • i love this exercise. i learned and memorized it, and a friend of mine hates me cause i won't make sheet music for him :)

  • god, I just came

  • @drawman3354 me to man tht was so good

  • i could do that

  • i just saw my friend. =) go david!

  • 1:10 = Constipation 1:22 = Amazing Shit.

  • @Sieffadiddle HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @Sieffadiddle Rofl.

  • If 1:10 thru 1:22 is constipation, then what happens after that? Sounds like someones screaming of how painful taking a crap is

  • @Sieffadiddle 1:10 = Amazing Shit 1:22 = Constipation. Pedals are fantastic.

  • That was..... Amazing

  • haha where the first bouncing on the pedal tones sounds like Rite of Spring

  • haha you're right

  • 1:22 - 1:46

    BEAST SHIT

  • Holy cow the camera quality is fantastic

  • I like the pedals at 1:01

  • u can hear someone take that G up to a C if u listen really close at the last couply seconds

  • a teeny bit flat, but its amazing :D

  • Gives me goosebumps.

  • 1:06 - 1:19

    OMFG.

  • lol i like how no matter what the ppl are all blury and the band is clear... it looks kool... and then at the end it focuses one guy lol... and yea 1:20 was clearest best sounding thing ive ever heard

  • @PHSMustangSAXPlayer

Manaul focus is a wonderful thing. It's amazing how such a simple technique like changing focus can add so much to a clip.

I've only seen a few examples frm this camera, but me likes. Me likes. Especially when watching DCI clips. :o)

  • Its not because of the manual focus, its because its an f/1.2 lens which has a VERY shallow depth of focus when opened all the way up.

  • Starting at 1:20 this becomes the greatest thing I've ever heard

  • anybody catch the double-high G? Yeah, that's pretty high.

  • Good quality for a camcorder.

  • not a camcorder, it's a DSLR, made by cannon...its actually meant for taking pictures. it's a picture camera. look it up. it's in the info

  • IDK who it is but i've seen him before somewhere. he looks so familiar and it's bugging me too. hahahaha does anybody know?

  • will someone tell me who the guy is at 1:50? haha

  • I Love You...

  • does BD march baris and euphs?

  • look at the whole side of the corps to the right of the contras...

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA that just made my day, thanks

  • Just euphs.

  • Haha, I love the peddle notes XP

  • i came.....

  • Amazing sound, congrats on your 09 season.

  • 1:21 to the end made me have goosebumps lol

  • 1:40 makes me smile!

  • Creative warm up exercises!

  • very nice. i like the change to 3/4. and yeah they ALWAYS have a trumpet hitting a very very high note... its just barely noticeable

  • Reppin' Golddddd.

  • I hate to say this but that's only a double c.. Still ridiculous tho..

  • Comment removed

  • Idk. I can hear a shimmer of something, but the 4 ledger-line G kindof covers it up.

  • Yea..that g is ridiculous.

  • nice cam! lol

  • now that's how you hang over a release. . .

  • The best Drum Corps in the land.

  • Comment removed

  • trumpet hangover win

  • blue devils r beasts those pedal tones were sick

  • Warmup Win!

I love the camera too....beautiful picture!

  • 1:25. That...was...AWESOME!!! And I agree with rimroka21, they were the best this year.

  • my high school band is getting those pant cape things... but they are black on the front and gold on the back

  • oh god really? that's terrible. . . i knew bands stole things from corps, but why would you want to take that. . . it's their thing man, it'd look stupid on anyone else.

  • not really my band did these type of lip slur warm ups and they actually made our brass sound better and better over time cause they were able to control their octaves. of course they were not exact, they were watered down. down vote this comment if you want but these type of warmups help beginner brass players build their chops.

  • And to help advanced brass players keep and still improve their chops.

  • an unbelievable corps this year. I was blown away at how clean that hornline was. just.....dumb. And KnottPatriot....CCrown may have been more exciting, but nowhere near better....not even close.

  • bd was better overall, but crown was best brass.

  • nice did you get any of the show

  • That's a nice camera. Great filmwork, thanks for posting this!

    1+9+3+0=13

    =]

  • Carolina Crown was better at Lucas Oil. Judges messed up.

  • i think every hair on my body just stood on end. i can't imagine how that sounded in person. WHAT A HORN LINE!! MAN those sopranos can play!

  • Thats quite a bit different than previous years

  • that concert F is beautiful........LORD! lol

  • whoa

  • mellophones =]

  • i know they compete professionaly in dci, but i was just wondering if they ever just perform at high school competitions for show and publicity.

  • Impulse, Pacific Crest, and Mystikal are a few corps who do SCJA parades every year in the summer. I see them with my marching band for parades on the forth of july. They don't compete obviously, but they go nevertheless.

  • What kind of camera is that??!!

  • wow, gotta love pedal tone articulation exercises.

  • trumpet screamin g at 1:41 is way,way sharp

  • haha

  • thank you

  • I think i love your camera more than the Blue Devils. Epic warm up though. All about the warm up.

  • he didnt miss the release, its called tagging. its all about jazz

  • Cainanuk, awesome usage of "paramount"

  • Jesus...12 tubas?!?!

  • phantom had 16

  • Beautiful sounding line ruined by the missed release at the end. Do that in the show and that is what the horn judge will harp on about for 15-30 seconds all the while missing the other greatness that you are putting out before them. Attention to detail is paramount at this level.

  • Its just warm up...

  • You never marched I take it... There is no such thing as "just a warm up" in top level drum corps. You are ALWAYS performing. You ALWAYS strive for perfection in everything you do at all times!

  • It all starts with the warm-ups. It's important to take warm-ups just as seriously as your show music, and to always apply what you do in your warm-ups (if you're doing it correct) into your show music.

  • not if it's done with purpose....

  • Great video quality...add a dedicated mic and this will be stellar!

  • awsome quality

  • awsome video and great sound but too bad im doing phantom

  • wow video quality,

    BEN NEGLAYYY

  • Woah that top F from the trumpet was so sharp...thank god he fixed it.

  • Correction my friend, It's a G. but sadly, no double C since 05 :((

  • I was speaking in concert pitch -_- but yeah i would love a double C

  • ur dumb. they play triple c,s all the time in the shows if you listen to space chords one trumpet plays a triple c every time. and you hear it in this video

  • it's a g not a c...

  • yea it is dude listen to the last 2 seconds of the last chordd one dude crawls up to a tiple c.

    its faint but its noticeable.

  • very very faint. i really had to listen to hear it but your right thanks for pointing that out.

  • thats a double c: one octave above c above the staff

  • your the dumb one. I don't think you know what a triple C is. the first C above the staff is a called a High C, octave above that is DOUBLE C, and an octave above that is Triple C. now I don't think you understand that most drum corps don't play higher than atleast E above double C. I will say that I have heard Triple G's come from a few players this year in 09. But don't call me dumb when you don't even know the names of notes on trumpet.

  • wow! thanks soooo much for stating the obvious!!

i ment to say double. not triple. a minor mistake. ive been playing trumpet for 9 years. im not stupid. you can say im stupid for not paying attention to my fast typing. please. dont get your vagina in a knot over it.

  • really... Triple G's on the field this year... where was i for that? and E above double C?? the next time thats in a show i'd like to know...

  • I mean't in warm ups..not field shows...

  • Comment removed

  • the judges this year were horrible so idc what the judges said i still have my own opinions

  • That screamer at the end is my boy victor

  • The short Cat that has the Second Solo in the Opener?? how old is he? Hope he has at least 2years after this one hes Sick with it!

  • Yeah he doesn't age out until 2011

  • he was 19..

  • Nice Camera, Nice Lens, Fantastic Drum Corp

  • Holy Crap at 1:06! I can't even do it that well on pedal notes!

  • Fantastic image and sound quality. Thank you very much r0nej00.

  • Oh heck yea! The brass sound very impressive this year!

  • The people who lived there are hella lucky.

  • What brass do they march? King???

  • dynasty.

  • its King for 2010.

  • I think he means drill wise

  • man if BD could march like the cavies they would be an unstopable tool of destruction....

  • what?? do you mean drill-wise or actual marching?? because BD can march as well if not better than the cavaliers. the drill I would agree is a different story

  • Comment removed

  • what a tool

  • HAH, if BD marched like cavies they'd fall out of the top 12.

  • At risk of being very redundant... what brand and model of camera do you have.... I have to purchase one!

  • Recorded hand-held using Canon 5D Mark II and onboard sound with 50mm 1.2L lens

  • those G's by the lead trumpets are so loud.....awesome

  • is that ol jimmy smith i see?

  • Your camera is freaking awesome!! I gotta get me one of those. May have to sell my soul to pay for it but its awesome.

The brass line sounds more full this year. Im saying BD takes the win in 2009. They sound as strong as ever.

  • so does regiment they are loud as hell.

  • 1:23 was cool

  • their new warm up is a mouthfull.

    lol

  • Hey it's Mr. Bill Watson conducting. Probably one of the best directors in Texas.

  • I saw that performance!! my first live DCI experience.

  • great vid quality but not one of their best warm ups though

  • brown note

  • What a excersize...:O

  • nice video, but like everyone else, i really love the quality of your camera. ha

  • Is that John conducting?

    GREAT CAMERA!!!!

  • Good job to BD.

But what most impressed me by this video was the quality produced by your camera.

  • I love it! Good to see some of the action on Youtube! I would love to be there!

  • That gave me wood!

  • That's me braiding my hair haha. Yes we're Gold Drum & Bugle Corps from Hawthorne, CA.

  • Who's the corps watching them?
