I'm a Christian and lived most of my life in England, but this song brings back so much memories of when I used to live in the Caribbean (most of my aunts/uncles/cousins are Hindu). I remember during Diwali they played this and there were a bunch of those candles (don't know what they're called :s) down the street and people were celebrating and there was so much tasty food. *sigh* I miss those days. Haha I was only four/five at the time but I remember well ^_^

My father lost 1/3 of his family (was from Lahore), mother's side Multan (now all in Pakistan) so maybe the old-timers know something I don't. I have a lot of respect for Sikhs - myself Arya Samaj hindu

Vaishnavites beleive Vishnu or Krishna is the only God, and Shiva is just a follower of Vishnu, and there are verses in Gita to support that. @JesusPaid4You: Hinduism is diferent - ours is a Teacher faith. We don't think we are sinners, nor should a Hindu ask for forgiveness like a slave before his king. If we did something wrong, a HIndu is supposed to take responsibility for it, and work to make amends, even if it takes several life times - that is the law of Karma. Not sure why a life of 60 odd years should decide my fate till eternity. Doesn't make sense.

Law Of Karma : There are 5 cause of karma : Action, Doer, Tools used to complete it, Place of action and God (I forget verse and ch. of Gita. But read it to find). So one is not responsible for his act.
What is God : Whatever gives you Hope and Inspiration of Life..(Ch. 10 Gita) and Actually everything ...(Ch. 11). Because anything can give you Hope and purpose for life depend on situation. Well lot to understand about Karma (Action). Gita is not religious belief system. It is philosophy.

@ramaraksha01 Um..according to om jai jagdish you actually do ask for forgiveness(of sins) and daas and dasi means workers of slaves. So, you do ask for forgiveness and you do consider yourself slaves. Hanuman considered himself lord Rams daas/bhakt. But im not saying anything about hinduism. hinduism is the oldest religion of all and what i love about it is that through bhakti and love one can be one with god and break the cycle of reincarnation. Muslim simply means one who has submitted/the peaceful. The Qur'an teaches that God had sent messengers to every people on earth. There isn't anyting in this hymn that goes against the teaching of the Qur'an. Very beautiful hymn that glorifies God. Some hindu's say different manifestations of God, I say it is simply different attributes of the same God. Unfortunate the world is too ignorant.

Now you might say that then Shiva is the most powerful. Not really because they all come from Brahman, the Ultimate Being. among muslims there is contradiction, but we all believe ALlah is one and Prophet Muhammed is his messenger. The ahmadiyas defer in this regard, and therefore theya re not considered muslims, anyways they are very small in number. But you guys have contradiction in the mainstream philosophy of your religion and the vaishnavite and shaivite division is the biggest example. skillcentre u are in a real dilemma abt these books, note that shiva purana means the story book of lord shiva. the rig veda is only a book of hymm to God bt the Bhagvad gita translation is the book of Bhagvad meaning God himself given through Arjun . n frmost u got many puranas like the agni n garuda n narada puranas n many mre, n 4 vedas each differs frm another. but Bhagvad is only one n the whole truth is that these books all cme frm the BHAGVATAM WHICH CITES GREAT PERSO LIKE CHRIST.

Who told you hinduism teaches all forms of worship is valid??? Go read Vaishnavite or Shaivite which is a major division among your own religion. Vaishnavites beleive Vishnu or Krishna is the only God, and Shiva is just a follower of Vishnu, and there are verses in Gita to support that. FOr example Moksha wont be achived without praying Krishna or Vishnu. Something like that holds for Shivaite belief!!Listen, whenever there is contradiction, there is lie, ISLAM IS STRAIGHFORWARD.
