I'm so grateful that you shared this vid of your sweet daughter singing a song that's a favorite of mine, too. She looks like I looked at her age... and she reminds me of my perpetual innocence and the beauty of the Creator's endless love.
@Megafortinbras. If you do not like the video, then by all means stop watching it and listen instead to your own untainted copy as a previous poster suggested. My daughter did not understand the nuances of the lyrics...in fact if you listen closely, she wasn't even singing the proper words. She simply loved the song and enjoyed singing along. She also did a great job of butchering "Blackberry Blossom" and "Come a Long Way" in her wholly untalented 2-year old way.
I still believe that three-year-olds singing about teenaged pregnancies is inappropriate. And when I said "mucked up" by her singing, that is exactly what I meant. Would you like to hear, say, Pavarotti singing "Nessun Dorma" being drowned out by a wholly untalented three-year-old. You probably think it's cute. I think it's not.
@MegaFortinbras If you love Michelle Shocked singing her song, then I recommend that you turn off this video, plug in your properly purchased copy of the CD or iTune or cassette and listen to it. See how easy that was? As for your second objection, the song is fundamentally a critique of the unequal and hypocritical standards of behavior that are encountered by women and not men. Quite an excellent lesson for a 3-year old, IMO.

I have two problems with this video -- I love Michelle Shocked singing it, and I would prefer it not be mucked up with a small girl singing over it.
Second, have you actually listened to the song? It's about the return home of an unmarried, pregnant girl. Is that appropriate for a three-year-old?
