the mod maker made it so that the pistons you had before the update will change to the in game ones so go check out his thread in the minecrafforums.

@grimartificial The thing is.. There is no underground to it. There's the wood with the button, then a layer of redstone, then wood, then either pistons, or tnt, the button activates the dust which powers the wood blocks under it, thus activating the TNT or the pistons.

if you have bukkit running, just use worldedit with .schemas for a backup to repair the game. its the easiest way :-)
