@andydzee i agree with this formation. luiz and romeu can defend the back line and help in attack so the backline dont have to play high defence line. second of all, romeu and luiz are fast so they can intercept the ball and luiz has more free role to push the ball upfront. so if torres is holding up play, lampard, rami and mata can come in faster with the cdm helping and the back four dont have to come out. good formation man

@1Novatrek 4-3-3 is just the base and the concept. When defending a 4-3-3 changes to 4-5-1. When attacking you can change to 4-3-3 normal, 4-1-3-2, 4-3-1-2 or others. That's why Mata has a 'Free role'.

@DennisDH7 Although I like the idea of Torres being able to play with another person up top, this is not possible. He is best as a center forward, thus the 4-3-3 is the ideal formation for him flanked by wingers (Mata/Sturridge) that can provide service along with the midfield players (Ramires/Meireles/Lampard).

@1Novatrek AVB has used a 4-4-2 and a 4-3-2-1, but for the most part has stuck with the 4-3-3 as that was the formation settled upon pre-season.

@PXranks Mikel is a good player, but he distribute the ball so slow which slows our play and opponent can dictate our play, Romeu play more faster and more aware on the ball

@wira442612 That is nonsense. It is Mikels long range ball that usually initiates the counter. He just knows when to secure the ball and slow down the play in order for everybody to get in position or when to light it up. Furthermore he operates like a surgeon, whereas Meireles and Romeu can get sloppy.

@DennisDH7 Mikel for Mereiles. Mikel is a better passer, he doesn't turn the ball over, he is better on the defensive side of the ball and he has been the most consistent chelsea player this year. Anelka for Lukaku. You can't simply throw the boy in at the deep end. He hasn't even gotten significant playing time and all of a sudden he should be a starter against Liverpool? Come on son! But I do agree that he should get more playing time. He should come in with 30 minutes to play not 5
