You know, with Cliffhangers, it's ironic. It's good if the person wins, so it's important to get the closest price of all three. But if they miss the price, we get to hear happy fun dance music.

And you know, Drew Carey isn't that bad of a host. He's energetic and wants people to win, even if he adds a new rule in where they would atleast win a little money (example being 1/2 Off, where the person can win $500 for each time they are correct, even if they don't win the $10,000).

Overall, I don't think Drew makes the show funnier. He does have some gems now and then, but most of the time he's trying TOO hard, and it comes across as forced or goofy (like calling the mountain climber "Yodel Guy" or saying "Playing a little strategy, huh?" every time someone bids $1). He's best when he just plays off the material and funny moments the contestents provide, rather than trying to put his goofy spin on everything.
