Oh, MAN, this IS sublime. I was actually about to decide NOT to watch the rest when I heard the introduction (no offense to yo' son, but that could've been a TAD better singing), but I decided to continue watching, anywho. SO glad I did. *grins* You're an EXPERT at the four-track. I used to use my mom's back when I was 2! Aaahh, good times. You've got the harmony down-PAT, too. Did you transcribe it yourself? Your bass part is quite impressive, especially since your voice is actually quite high!

The only thing I really could suggest in the cover would be to end on a more elaborate chord at the end, instead of all the parts on the same note. That works great on quite a few songs, but I think this one deserves some sort of... add9 or something! Beautifully off-kilter choreography, too. I lurv' your "screaming Argonauts" move-- and your upwards spirals at "whistles and bells"! You did a great job of not just re-doing the song.

It is QUITE different from the original-- you made it into more of a... bouncy, tongue-in-cheek carnival tune! I approve greatl'eh. This reminds me very clearly of Kristin Chenoweth and Ellen Greene's cover of the song! (Actually, you kinda remind me of Kristin! *grins*) Sub'd, 5'd, and subscribe'd, to be certain!

Also, as a side-note, did you make the video beFORE or AFter you had a birdhouse of your own for visual aid?

Hi mrmartinmartin! The backing voices are all me, I pre-recorded myself using a 4-track recorder, there are 3 tracks of me singing harmony, and one track of my son singing the intro, the ending, and the little whistles during the song. I then played the tape and sang along to it (yes I'm singing on the video) so there are 4 of "me", singing. My voice is kind of thin so I feel I sound best when I overdub using the 4-track.
