He's just brilliant. He opened us up to a composer that was gathering dust. What a great work to use as an introduction to Alkan.

This is a high point in Hamelin's discography. It's wonderful that you were able to post (in such excellent quality!) his studio recording, as the live recordings on youtube compromise his greatest asset in this piece: his wide tonal pallet.

This is, without question, a great performance, but I think it is too fast. However, the fact that he can play a piece of such monumental difficulty at this accurately, and at this speed, is certainly something to be admired.
