i've tried something similar to this like 6 years ago. it was a pen who was connected with like an robot arm. that pen made it possible to paint in 3d, but you could also train yourself to surge a hand. i used a syringe and draged a knife on the hand and felt the bones. Really cool but i guess the science have come a bit further than this now. but still cool for uss "normal" people

Wonder what the NanosuitNinja would think of this. The major problem I see, is that the game wasn't made to interface with such a device. You can see clearly the screen jerking up due to recoil because it is taking into consideration the input device's movement.

nice review this is 1 of the review that got me to bought it im from the uk so it is possible to buy now ive played left 4 dead and team fortress 2 with the novint falcon and i must say its great feeling the a shotgun blow of a enimies face is great and using the heavy weapons guy on tf2 to mow down ur enimies its all great ive had no problems so far with it very fun machine im about to install and play it with crysis but is there a mod that gets it to work with Crysis: Warhead?

the problem is the system that makes those things crappy for pro gaming. when u move this to the left/right it will keep moving untill its in the middle again. witch means that beeing accurate is much harder then when u have a mouse. it will probably be like playing fps games on a ps2 consol.

I'm sure it's alot more precise once you get used to it, and it seems to work like a mouse until you get to the outer extremeties of the movement area, in which case it sees the movement as a "continuous" command instead of "move to this position" like with a mouse. I bet it controls quite nicely, but of course not as quick and precise as a mouse. It's more of an immersion peripheral, not something to make you a better competitor online. I'd love to get one.

i read up on it and normal control is in the center but when you go near the edge it turns into a joystick and spins round if you get what i mean :P

but I don't understand how it works. these games are designed for a mouse, to turn around repeatedly, you eventually need to pick up the mouse and put it down again. how do you do that with a fixed device? on Wii, it's done by aiming at the screen edges, but you wouldn't be able to do that in these games.

i just watched the ceo vid on this thing. up to the edge of the range of the novint falcon in real life in your hand, it works like a mouse, with the cursor going to where you place it. when you reach the edge, it works like a controller joypad, with the cursor going in the direction you push to. hope i explained that alright

Ice, with the recoil on a physical device it's a lot easier; i.e. you just move the pistol back to where it was and you do this naturally, as opposed to re-centering with a mouse which is more abstract.. so it's more the sensation which you can work against anyway (like a real gun); it doesn't really compound with the built-in non-feedback recoil of the game, rather adds a new intuitive way to come to terms with it :-)

Its not. It is advertised to be better then a mouse once the player has some practice, there main argument being that you don't have to pick up your mouse and move it because you've reached the edge of your mousepad.

Tbh, with a 4000DPI mouse that i own (Lachesis), aswell as the Sphex mousepad, which is more then enough room, i've NEVER had to pick up my mouse because its hit the edges.

It isn't superior, as much as Novint would like to believe so.

Apparently it's a like a joystick, so you just hold it to whatever direction you want to turn, and it keeps turning. When you put it back in the center position, it's like when you aren't moving the mouse.
