  • I dont think i'd get used to the yaw!

  • I dont think i'd get used to the yaw!

  • wow what a massive airfield.

  • About what is your approach speed? Is it the same as the cessna 150? (65 mph)

  • It's call a "Go-around" - best thing to do on a bad approach.

  • Very wise and safe decision. This is real piloting skill.

  • kept waiting for the Red Eject Button to be pushed

  • how many boforts was the wind force?

  • As long as u can walk away from the Aircraft it is a good landing.I think u were a bit risky. This weather is not that when we r enjoying the flight

  • All pilots will tell you, if you walk away from the landing its a good landing, regardless of the condition of the aircraft...

  • are these easy to fly, not i said fly not land

  • xD! i though that it was another gay simulator :), nice flying!

  • i fail to see the point... suspecting this video doesn't have one.

  • Side winds kill me too!

  • You need a big mic muff on the microphone. Helps a lot.

  • i think i would have to force my brain to reverse the control logic in such a thing .. pull and go down ;)

  • Wise desicion to fly another day. Blue skies!

  • your obviously a good enough pilot that you knew to abort the landing, someone untrained could have tried to land

  • hahahahaha lol

  • I read that flying an ultralight does not require a license. It also says that you are not allowed to fly over towns or settlements. What is that suppose to mean? Does that mean that you cannot fly over peoples homes. If you get your sports pilots license, but sill fly and ultralight (such as a trike), do these rules still apply?

  • crosswinds?

  • I could land there with an 747 lol

  • Pas pris de risque, c'est très bien!

  • I agree

  • oui, je n'aime pas prendre des risques (I hope thats right)

  • don't call it fail. you were trying cross landing as I see

  • if i had one id fit a but fat rudder on it

  • *big

  • u can bet. i would do the same.

  • wind sheer from hell

  • That's not a failed landing. That's a go around. The only failed landing is when you force it down and die.

  • rofl

  • hahahah

  • Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing.

  • or crawl away. @mickeydougal

  • it`s cool, man

  • If you walked away it wasn't a failure.

  • I hate these things, always get in the way when i'm training in a c152.

  • That's funny.. I used to say the same thing about 152's while flying corporate.. ;)

  • Haha XD , We all got to start somewhere !

  • By crosswind you musst crossland , no problem for a microlight.

  • this is a trike and has no rudder, very hard in xwinds..isnt an ultralight

  • does this happens because you dont hav a rudder, so you cant kick it straight on final?

  • going around is better than trying to land when the end of the runway comes nearer.

  • So what happened in the end?

  • He"s still up there somewhere i guess.

  • Veio a pista tava na sua frente, amarelo no puso.?

  • could of landed and took off 50 times on that long runway!!

  • What the fuck is wrong with you??

  • MELHOR É POUSAR CONTRA O VENTO!!!

  • if conditions were that bad i would not fly that day. but what a field! lets see the final landing this was just drama.

  • Look at my other video, second time lucky!

  • i did not mean my comment in any disrespectful way. i gave up flying years ago sadly. but still look up and wish, i can't fly now (medical). keep flying.

  • Nice dude, must be funny! How much does it cost? I mean tha plane

  • well the condition of it? £15,000 new maybe a little more, then license, then fuel, then tax.. talking around £20,000..

  • good decision to go around, ignore the negative comments after all you were flying it.i fly a piper arrow, and have seen a few go arounds in my time, did a few myself especialy in strong cross wind conditions..as my flying instructor used to say "if you dont like the look of it GO AROUND"nothing to be ashamed of we all do them...good luck with your flying...

  • the weather is unpredictable,i have often gone flying when its sunny, then returned and had to do an ils aproach, yet the forcast was all the 9s.[typical british weather]..no one goes flying in cr**p weather on perpose[eccept instrument pilots]

  • Full acknowledgement, perfect decissionmaking at the right time. Good airmanship as it should be. :)

  • That was a PERFECT judgment for a go around! that cross was crazy fast..the wrong gust and your waiting for parts to come in the mail! My MXII couldnt handle that type of wind..LET ALONE THE CROSS WIND!! iffff i did have to land in that with my 3 axis, I'd almost have no choice but to angle the runway and use the grass! of course my stall is 24mph, so with 30mph wind I could "technically" land flying backwards!! or a safe 5-6 mph ground speed! imagine "landing roll ummm 6 feet" Love it!

  • Cross wind landings can make even an experienced pilot get the white knuckles. They're one of the most challenging, exhilarating, and sometimes terrifying things (if things are really bad and you're new to flying).

  • Thats not a failed landing, that was a go around done at the right time. He did his job correctly!

  • i think this chap did a real good job to land in that wind ! 30 mph cross wind , even the seagull on the right on approach landed upside down !!!! well done

  • i like the blonde with the big boobs.

  • OMG! Hard wind!

  • Where is the throttle on trikes? How is it controlled, i see both hands are on the bar...

  • Foot!

  • @inmanfamily wheres the rudder?

  • Those cross-wind landings can be a bitch!

  • U obviously don't get the joke

  • How do you miss an approach with a powered hand-glider?? Those things travel at the speed of smell..

  • you sure..? give it a go yourself and see the speed those things can have on final. but this here was something not needed. had enough runway to land and take-off 3 times. but we do not know the experience of the pilot. better safe than sorry.

  • holy fuck! how do you get such great graphics on microsoft flight simulator!

  • LOLOLOL your awsome

  • it is not microsoft flight simulator, you dont see your self in microsoft flight simulator. besides, crimson skies is better than microsoft flight simulator. and one more for good mesher, microsoft flight simulator lol @Channel494

  • @kekierachet Crimson skys is a arcard game, it holds little to no realism at all.

  • @iscay666 im talking about graphics. (on the xbox)

  • @Channel494 Thank god I wasnt the only one who thought that XD

  • @Channel494 lol he used x-plane instead!

  • and you were lined up a mile out.

  • MY EARS O_O *collapses*

  • Looks like there was a decent crosswind component there.

A go-around, as mentioned in a previous comment, is a decision taken by the pilot to abort the landing and try again. And it does show superior judgement - well done mate.

    Hello from sunny Malta!

  • ok, that was NOT a failed landing.....

  • Try Microsoft flight simulator

  • That was not a "failed landing", that was a go- around.

The go-around is a completely acceptable maneuver, and instead of showing deficiency it demonstrates the pilot's superior judgment.

  • agreed.

  • i cant imagine thats harder then "real" aircraft, but i may be wrong? i've never flown any sort of ultralight before

  • Thanks for keeping the audio nice and loud...

  • go and comment some videos that you actualy know something about. just go away!!! ok?

  • rdsmp just shut up. microlite is very sensitive on winds and weather but in good hands he is very nice to fly. i don t fly microlite or ultralight but i know that he is nice flying machine

  • shut up rdsmp beacuse you don t know anything about aviation.shut up!!!!!!

  • mimimimi don't cry fag ass!

  • I feel sorry for you man, your going to go threw life being so negitive, it's your loss though, lol your 28 and you act like 13, what is your reason for saying the things you've said on this video? Your life must not be that good.

Its people like you that de-evolve the entire Human Race. Please grow up, or Shut up

  • lol, i have a life. we all do, if we didnt , we wouldnt be alive. i dont feel sad or mad or anything really. if you have more important things to think about, why waste your time on a little youtube comment that wasent even directed at you. i simply read RDSMP's comments, and i thought i would express my opinion, took me all of 1 min

&your makeing stuff in your head to make yourself feel better, so if you do feel better, so be it

40 and you act talk like your under 20. You have no idea

  • im feel sorry that you feel that way, i would think a person of your age would understand what i was saying at least.you really have no idea of who i am or what i do with my life, and its certainly nothing that you said. i mean, why did you even Comment on my comment? just to be mean? why not make something constructive & something positive

i think we all have more important thinks to think about, like trying to help people, rather then break there spirit down,is that what you want to do in life

  • Man, I felt surprised with this reply message in my e-mail. I didn't wrote this message below!!! Probably i've left the computer logded in some cyber cafe or something like that. I really don't know. But me, Rodrigo, I would't offend other persons. But what i saw NOW down below is that this guy rdmp expressed a simple opinio and was offended first. But whatever... Unfort. I can't erease the ofenses wroted with my youtube signature.

    God Bless u.

  • jajajaja maaan, we r not supposed to fly! look how weak is this structure lol.

That's remembers me that ols Snes game called Pilot Wings lol

  • First, learn something about statics and aviation, and engineering, then talk about it. Because ultra light's actually have a very solid structure.

  • mimimimi² - here is the fag ass brother lol

  • Lol, you just declared yourself as retard, so...yeah, screw you.

  • Also, I've studied this, just so you know. I think I'll know a bit more about aviation than you do.

  • Thats correct. Make a go around if it does not feel right. That is not to fail!

  • Wow. Pretty incorrect landing approach. In a trike you are supposed to track on runway heading in a x-wind using a crab angle and then land with that angle. As the main wheels touch down, the front of the trike will come around. The main thing is to keep the front off the ground while the trike straightens itself. Here you are trying to constantly drifting to one side of the runway which means you have not crabbed correctly and you are constantly pulling to get back to center line. More practice

  • Response is close but very hard to keep the front wheel up in a trike. As the rears touch the cart tends to rock back bringing the front down. However you can hold it in ground effect and as the bar gets close to the profile tube and the wings stalls it will straighten. a crosswind landing in a trike is always tricky. At time I would kill for a rudder, but nothing beats flying in the open. An never be embarrassed by a go around "If there is doubt there is no doubt" Fly the plane until it stops

  • I respectfully disagree completely. It is not hard to keep the front wheel up on a trike. As the rears touch down, the pilot is supposed to keep flaring and -fly- the front wheel down. The front wheel is kept about 8 inches higher than the main wheels on all decent trike designs. I should know we design and sell certified trikes in the US. This is pure and simple terrible pilot error.

  • @dreman55

I am sorry its not hard. If landed properly on a proper trike and the nose stays up for a short time. You either need a different trike or proper training. I have 3000 hours of teaching people to fly trikes as a CFI in USA and if you need help and are in the US look up our school Tampa Bay Aerosport. Sorry I don't want to be rude or anything but I cannot allow ignorant statements to just stand un-challenged

  • Psyretech - I thought I had posted my comments to all not just you (see above)

  • why couldnt you land? looked like you were perfectly level and had a lot of runway to brake on

  • Thats at Rufforth, near York.

I fly from there. It was great seeing it on film. Thanks

  • why did you reply to my comment commenting his video, you could just type your comment below

  • What's the old saying? If there is enough wind to fly a kite there is too much wind to fly an ultra light.

  • try landing faster bar all the way in, hold it steady and give it the gas pedal right before the ground. horible piloting on flim I have yet to go around for a nother pass in a trike stop snaking fly true and land.

  • Yes it is not normal to crash, but a good pilot anticipates what they would do if anything goes wrong, particularly engine failure. It IS a good discipline to have the possibility of a crash in the forefront of your mind at all times.

Maybe a nice grass runway landing might be how should I put it? "therapeutic".

  • Why didn't you just land on the grass? Afterall you'd have had to had your engine failed?

  • what sort of a dumbass comment is that?! your like the people who post videos like "dave's first crash". It is not normal to crash!! a good pilot does not have the attitude that "it happens to everyone". all crashes are avoidable.

  • No not really they aren't... If your engines stall and you're over a huge body of water, what do you do. If you're in a very mountainous area with woods all around you can't land. You're just an idiot.

  • ok... ALMOST all crashes are avoidable. you can minimise the chances of your engine failing by looking after it properly, and you should never fly over anything that you dont want to land on unless you have a good reason.

  • come on i've known totally new engines that fail in middle flight... everything man made is going to fail sooner or later, and how do you avoid flying in the mountains if you live between the mountains or how do you avoid water living in an island...as A PILOT you must always think that something is going wrong so by the time it really happens you are prepared and you know what to do

  • i agree with your last statement even if it does sorta contradict the rest :P

new engines are much more prone to failure than ones that are say 100 hours old properly looked after!

  • Words to live by:

    A LANDING is a FAILED go-around...

  • yep, and a good landing is one you can walk away from...

  • YouTube flame war #93,577,941

    Get a fucking grip, children.

A go-around was the correct response, given the crosswind he'd have crashed about 300m up the runway.

  • yeah and then what wait for the wind to stop.. it was a wise decision but if you need to land on a Xwind you should make the proper correction for the wind. not just go around every time

  • Like the video, and yes I agree with the decision to go around.

What's with all the stabbing comments after though, it sounds like the AGM at our model club.

  • Hey aviator 'legend'2 ( legend should only be used in parenthesis until people buy into it ),that would be about $58,616,742.14 in u.s.d. By the way, don't start a sentence with the word 'And', capitalize your 'I's when used in reference to yourself, do your own math after you've been answered a question and be more polite in the future.'Legends' don't behave that way.

  • Well said. HE HE Good Lad. I wasn't being rude, I just couldn't understand why he wanted me to work it back into U.S Dollars for him. Lets face it if he can't do that he can't afford one anyway.

  • Failed landing??? What the heck, it's called a go-around, not a failed landing. Something all pilots are trained to do if they don't like the landing conditions - looks to me like he/she did a great job.

  • nasty cross wind:\

  • There seems there were too much wind that blows from 2 o'clock position had been aberrating the plane's position.

  • How much are these things?

  • Roughly!

    £3000.00 for microlite

    £3000.00 for license

£40.00 a week to store in hanger

  • Umm, you know what they are in US Dollars?

  • Ummm, work it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you ungratefull bastard

  • ungratefull of what?!

  • just thought id step in, inmanfamily tryed to help you out yes ?, rite and you basically have not given any sort of thanks, which could be a simple thankyou, the reply "Ummm, suck my cock" is extreamly disrespectful.

  • when inmanfamily says "Ummm, work it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " thats disrespectful

  • yeah I agree aviatorlegend2, you were only enquiring how much it costs. You did not deserve that response!

  • NO! i replyed Doy uo know what they are US dollars. and I got back "Ummm, work it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " THAT was extremely disrespectful. And learn how to spell "extremely" ..idiot.

  • Plane Crash

  • yep, you make it or break it in the approach, to fast in the approach and waiting to long to correct the off centre, problem grew out of hand. looks like a nice trike dough.

  • I was asking myself "Why the hell doesn't he do a missed approach?", and then he did. Good call!

  • Its just called "Go-Around".. nothing special..

  • I did my training at Sandtoft, an air field that has an added trick to throw at you, on final ry23 the approach is over hundreds, so I have had my fare share of go arounds,

this was a good call to abort the landing, if your not one hundred percent happy, then go around. Its nice that this video was put on you tube for others to see and comment, gets people thinking for their next landing. Next time I fly into York I'll look forward to having a chat with you over a cup of tea, good luck, flyman.

  • nice to see some common sense and deciding to go around. so many pilots are determined to get it down and end up bending the craft...good call

  • Great vid. Thanks for sharing. Never catch me doing that. Watching a video is more than enough. :)

  • What this you inmanfamily? what happend, was there to much airspeed, and to much wind? im not sure, it looks like you were going to fast, and alot of crosswind.

  • Yes it is me on the back, as it is my friends Microlite. What happened was, that if you look at the video he was far too twisted left to land the wheels safely, so he throttled back up. THANK GOD. Such a buzz though !!

  • Yeh it looks it lol, I want to get into microliting, but its now winter, so I would guess its not a good time to start. what do you think? maybe march time would be good.

  • You have sheepskin suits on so it is not that bad. But I can say it is not warm !!

  • What do you mean WTF ? I know what it means but why would you use it in this context ?
