good decision to go around, ignore the negative comments after all you were flying it.i fly a piper arrow, and have seen a few go arounds in my time, did a few myself especialy in strong cross wind conditions..as my flying instructor used to say "if you dont like the look of it GO AROUND"nothing to be ashamed of we all do them...good luck with your flying...
the weather is unpredictable,i have often gone flying when its sunny, then returned and had to do an ils aproach, yet the forcast was all the 9s.[typical british weather]..no one goes flying in cr**p weather on perpose[eccept instrument pilots]
That was a PERFECT judgment for a go around! that cross was crazy fast..the wrong gust and your waiting for parts to come in the mail! My MXII couldnt handle that type of wind..LET ALONE THE CROSS WIND!! iffff i did have to land in that with my 3 axis, I'd almost have no choice but to angle the runway and use the grass! of course my stall is 24mph, so with 30mph wind I could "technically" land flying backwards!! or a safe 5-6 mph ground speed! imagine "landing roll ummm 6 feet" Love it!
Cross wind landings can make even an experienced pilot get the white knuckles. They're one of the most challenging, exhilarating, and sometimes terrifying things (if things are really bad and you're new to flying).
i think this chap did a real good job to land in that wind ! 30 mph cross wind , even the seagull on the right on approach landed upside down !!!! well done
you sure..? give it a go yourself and see the speed those things can have on final. but this here was something not needed. had enough runway to land and take-off 3 times. but we do not know the experience of the pilot. better safe than sorry.

Wow. Pretty incorrect landing approach. In a trike you are supposed to track on runway heading in a x-wind using a crab angle and then land with that angle. As the main wheels touch down, the front of the trike will come around. The main thing is to keep the front off the ground while the trike straightens itself. Here you are trying to constantly drifting to one side of the runway which means you have not crabbed correctly and you are constantly pulling to get back to center line. More practice
Response is close but very hard to keep the front wheel up in a trike. As the rears touch the cart tends to rock back bringing the front down. However you can hold it in ground effect and as the bar gets close to the profile tube and the wings stalls it will straighten. a crosswind landing in a trike is always tricky. At time I would kill for a rudder, but nothing beats flying in the open. An never be embarrassed by a go around "If there is doubt there is no doubt" Fly the plane until it stops
I respectfully disagree completely. It is not hard to keep the front wheel up on a trike. As the rears touch down, the pilot is supposed to keep flaring and -fly- the front wheel down. The front wheel is kept about 8 inches higher than the main wheels on all decent trike designs. I should know we design and sell certified trikes in the US. This is pure and simple terrible pilot error.
I am sorry its not hard. If landed properly on a proper trike and the nose stays up for a short time. You either need a different trike or proper training. I have 3000 hours of teaching people to fly trikes as a CFI in USA and if you need help and are in the US look up our school Tampa Bay Aerosport. Sorry I don't want to be rude or anything but I cannot allow ignorant statements to just stand un-challenged
try landing faster bar all the way in, hold it steady and give it the gas pedal right before the ground. horible piloting on flim I have yet to go around for a nother pass in a trike stop snaking fly true and land.
Yes it is not normal to crash, but a good pilot anticipates what they would do if anything goes wrong, particularly engine failure. It IS a good discipline to have the possibility of a crash in the forefront of your mind at all times.
Maybe a nice grass runway landing might be how should I put it? "therapeutic".
what sort of a dumbass comment is that?! your like the people who post videos like "dave's first crash". It is not normal to crash!! a good pilot does not have the attitude that "it happens to everyone". all crashes are avoidable.
No not really they aren't... If your engines stall and you're over a huge body of water, what do you do. If you're in a very mountainous area with woods all around you can't land. You're just an idiot.
ok... ALMOST all crashes are avoidable. you can minimise the chances of your engine failing by looking after it properly, and you should never fly over anything that you dont want to land on unless you have a good reason.
come on i've known totally new engines that fail in middle flight... everything man made is going to fail sooner or later, and how do you avoid flying in the mountains if you live between the mountains or how do you avoid water living in an island...as A PILOT you must always think that something is going wrong so by the time it really happens you are prepared and you know what to do

Failed landing??? What the heck, it's called a go-around, not a failed landing. Something all pilots are trained to do if they don't like the landing conditions - looks to me like he/she did a great job.
just thought id step in, inmanfamily tryed to help you out yes ?, rite and you basically have not given any sort of thanks, which could be a simple thankyou, the reply "Ummm, suck my cock" is extreamly disrespectful.
NO! i replyed Doy uo know what they are US dollars. and I got back "Ummm, work it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " THAT was extremely disrespectful. And learn how to spell "extremely" ..idiot.
yep, you make it or break it in the approach, to fast in the approach and waiting to long to correct the off centre, problem grew out of hand. looks like a nice trike dough.
I did my training at Sandtoft, an air field that has an added trick to throw at you, on final ry23 the approach is over hundreds, so I have had my fare share of go arounds,
this was a good call to abort the landing, if your not one hundred percent happy, then go around. Its nice that this video was put on you tube for others to see and comment, gets people thinking for their next landing. Next time I fly into York I'll look forward to having a chat with you over a cup of tea, good luck, flyman.
What this you inmanfamily? what happend, was there to much airspeed, and to much wind? im not sure, it looks like you were going to fast, and alot of crosswind.
Yes it is me on the back, as it is my friends Microlite. What happened was, that if you look at the video he was far too twisted left to land the wheels safely, so he throttled back up. THANK GOD. Such a buzz though !!
Yeh it looks it lol, I want to get into microliting, but its now winter, so I would guess its not a good time to start. what do you think? maybe march time would be good.

Plane Crash

yep, you make it or break it in the approach, to fast in the approach and waiting to long to correct the off centre, problem grew out of hand. looks like a nice trike dough.

I was asking myself "Why the hell doesn't he do a missed approach?", and then he did. Good call!

Its just called "Go-Around".. nothing special..

Next time I fly into York I'll look forward to having a chat with you over a cup of tea, good luck, flyman.

nice to see some common sense and deciding to go around. so many pilots are determined to get it down and end up bending the craft...good call

Yes it is me on the back, as it is my friends Microlite. What happened was, that if you look at the video he was far too twisted left to land the wheels safely, so he throttled back up. THANK GOD. Such a buzz though !!
