@MerseySky Agreed. And unfortunately, that very same ballad material has blinded most people to the fact that before the ballads, these guys were nothing short of revolutionary in terms of musical ability and originality. CTA is easily one of the best debut albums of all time, but sadly, it's greatness has been overshadowed by the musical choices and business decisions made by the band after Terry Kath's death.
@audiotsunite Occupy yourself w/finding a job! Any job intead of sitting on your ass,keeping other people from doing THEIR jobs is better than sitting w/he great unwashed,holding up signs like some stupid pep rally.Think you're the 1st generation to go through this?1978 w/Carter was hellish but this wasn't the answer.People networked.Also we didn't have the"annointed one,"along w/Madam Mao Michelle in the WH.Think he'll do something for you?Guess again.He wants to improve his golf game,that's it
A great song from a great American band! Not a bad song on this, Chicago's debut LP, & a double disc at that! I could listen to "The Chicago Transit Authority" & "Chicago II" all day long!
Hey Verbaud... Who could today release a double album... You need three thing to make that happen... Talent... Great Song Writing and Talent... Enough Said... The best we can say about growing up in the 1960's and 1970's was we surly had the greatest music in the HISTORY OF MUSIC... REAL MUSIC!!!
1st group to 'sample' for a positive cause. Beloved Chicago was a revolutionary group. And at least their 1st 2 albums were 2fers . 2 fuckin awesome 33's for the price of one. Imagine a group releasing a dbl CD for the price of one now (AND were talented).
Written in response to the Chicago "Police Riot" response to the demonstrations which were occuring outside of the Democratic Party's 1968 Convention. While I was not there, I remember seeing it on TV. I was one pissed off teen for a long time after that.
Timeless....I 'rediscovered' this album about 6 monts ago while going through my collection. I've had it forever, but it fell to the back of my stack. It's loaded up on my ipod and I can't listen to this enough.
kinda like today!

Other than a tad 60s indulgence, can you really find much of this album that doesn't rock, cruise, jam, bang, bop, pop, and groove? Amazing effort.

Somehow your diatribe doesn't touch me like this song.

@quikmart1 Diatribe! I'm so impressed. You can at least...spell.
You know what the word really means?
Ask " the annointed one," or his Rhinocerous sized ' Let's MOVE!', wife-caught eating a sizeable amount of french fries, if you don't.
I think we ALL agree this a great song and also agree, you're full of sh*t !
Diatribe! Thank you for the compliment...Mr. Music! LOL!!!

@MerseySky yep, agreed.

Thanks so much for the tune RakyMaky.
The fact these guys are NOT in the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame is a total and absolute travesty!

Proof that great music is timeless. This song is just as relevant as it was in the late 60's, if not more-so!
