  • fo. fi. fo.

  • The 5'4" man with the red pants and cut off blue shirt will haunt your dreams if you don't jump with him Larry Bird (:31 just in case lol)

  • Malone didn't singlehandedly carry the Houston Rockets in '81, it was a team effort. Cal Murphy and Robert Reid especially. I know it has nothing to do with this video but that information is completely wrong.

  • Kobe has a price Philly could have tried to match his demands

  • Phili thinks Kobe turn his back on his hometown but the 76ers passed up on Kobe in the 1996 draft. It isn't Kobe's fault the 76ers passed him up.

  • @babykevinxoxo get your facts straight dude, Kobe REFUSED to play for the Sixers if they drafted him. Look it up!

  • One of the best all-around team to win the title. Dr. J was my all-time basketball hero and they gave him Moses!!!! UNSTOPPABLE!!!!

  • I love sixers

    Italy

  • I hope in MY lifetime the Sixers win a championship!

  • Me too! Been a 76ers fan all my life. I witness one championship, 1983.

  • @NEJerry I feel ya man LET'S GO 76ers!!!

  • @LawnboyBaker

I'd give the 95-96 Bulls a slight edge because of the way they dominated the league until dropping 2 games in the NBA finals vs the Sonics, but at that point they had a 3-0 lead. One could argue the 76ers were better though since they swept a dynasty in the finals and the playoffs should hold as much or more weight than regular season.

  • Mediocre Houston Rockets? Your wife was mediocre at sucking my dick.

  • @LawnboyBaker I think that you are right. This team would have given the Bulls teams a hard time inside.

  • I'm looking for the video of the 76ers set to the song "Just Once" . I saw it first in 1983 on TV. Can anyone help me? joe1moore@eplus.net

  • yo I loved to see this thanks for the upload man

  • Man that was the year

  • That was such a great season

  • I miss the 76ers being great...they were the coolist Philly team ever.......

  • Man, I loved this team-great childhood memories!

  • One of the best basketball teams ever. Sad to see the sixers know.

    FIRE THE EDIOTS

  • I hate it when the NBA plays sound bites that don't match with the action. Like, they'll have an announcer say "Great move by Moses!!!" with the crowd cheer in the background, yet the footage will be of Moses ON THE ROAD. Yeah, I'm nitpicking, what can I say?

  • Moses Malone was the best. Back to back MVP's 82-83, and a championship ring in 83. Awesome.

  • LAKERS OWN sixers

  • The Sixers went back to the old color scheme, but the uniforms aren't exactly the same. Plus they play in the F.U. Center, not the Spectrum. Unfortunately the team is not that good, and Lou Williams & Sami D. are jokes. Brand is an injury prune and is Iggy is a "6-man who starts".

Andrew Tony was a great 2-guard, and could shoot. But, what made him great, was he had a "first step", which is a lost art in the NBA.

  • Pleasant memories of my youth.

  • See this is the kind of thing that makes you pull for players and teams. The struggles they go through. I love Philadelphia just for this team just like i loved the bulls for finally defeating the pistons. If it was for me being a bobcats fan I would be pulling for the Cavs now because they are struggling hard. Perhaps shag is the Cavs new Malone.

  • I think the sixers are a few years from returning to this level. Lou Williams will be a good starter. Anybody agree? Let me know at my site:

    PhillySportsChat {.}Com

  • A good starter as a shooting guard, not a point guard.

  • Aside from Malone in the middle, my lasting impression of the Sixers from that year was Cheeks and Toney coming out together almost to half-court to defend against the Lakers guards. You could tell they were going to make every pass, every dribble, every shot as difficult as possible.

  • There is no way the Sixers can keep wearing those ridiculous black uniforms. For God's sake get back to your roots and get the old red white and blue uni's out again...for good. You're called the 76ers for cryin' out loud! Do you even know what that represents anymore? Or does a hard, gangster look seem more important to you? Old logo, old uni's. Be true to your town and it's history in the leauge.

  • And they eventually did go back to the old logo, THANK GOD! I don't even like how the shorts are now knee-high giving the players a more "ghetto" look.

The Sixers should've won at least 3 more championships after the '83 season. I didn't understand why. :(

  • @ytownteddy i hate these old jerseys, the black is better

  • @ytownteddy stop crying. lol

  • Andrew Toney must be the most underrated shooting guard in NBA history. Without his contribution to the Sixers, Dr J wouldn't be wearing the ring, Moses Malone wouldn't be wearing one either. He deserves to have 22 be retired from the rafters. Pat Riley even says that he is the greatest clutch scorer he has ever seen (that was before MJ came along though).

  • I always remembered that when people asked Charles Barkley who the best player he ever played with or against was, he always answered with Toney's name. It actually got a few laughing "oh, come on" responses by the person who asked him, but he always stood by his statement. That's saying alot for a guy who not only played during Jordan's era but was one of MJ's boys. Toney was a stone cold killer of a shooter. Great long-forgotten talent. A real NBA star that nobody seems to remember.

  • My classmates and me were having a trip in Italy in 1982 and we watched an NBA regular season game on TV. It was a Lakers-Sixers, only one of us had good information about NBA. Jabbar made a great match, Erving his dunks... but Toney scored 40 points. You said the right expression: "stone cold killer".

  • And too bad this was the last hurrah for Andrew Toney, once they lost their ace shooting guard and only really good outside shooter they were never the same. If Toney stays healthy + Charles Barkley added to the mix and things could of been much different. I know they lost some of their Fire after winning it all, but losing Tony probably had something (a lot) to do with that as well.

  • Vinnie Johnson and Andrew Toney were scoring machines. It's a shame that foot injuries killed Toneys career. He had the most lethal first step I'd ever seen. If you put todays superstars in that era, they would not compare. Dr, J was dunking on seven footers and three people at one time.

  • They should of just gave the Sixers a bye for the Championship and let the Bucks play the Lakers for the Consolation Championship. That was a very good Bucks team, would of been a competiteve final,

  • Can some one tell me where to download sixers clips or videos? Im making a muzik vid.

  • their playoff 12-1 record isnt the best, it was beaten by 2001 lakers 15-1

  • Yeah, but it's a different league today. The Sixers, Lakers,Celtics and Bucks were deep and loaded. I can't even watch the NBA these days.

  • I am a sixers fan, but those 80-82 lakers teams were good. McAdoo and Cooper coming off the bench was tough. Magic, Kareen, Worthy, etc... too tough.

  • You got that right. A team like the Bucks had no luck back then. They'd roll today, with quality players at every position.

  • and back then top seeds got a first round bye...so of course just by playing more games the lakers would have the better record

  • Fuck the LAkers and the Celtics. Go SIXERSSS lol

  • Did i just heer wat i thought i herd 3:48-3:54

  • Great Video. Unfortunately I a younger sixer fan so I was unable to witness this type of caliber team. With history in the books, the '83 sixers will always been known as one of the greatest franchise ever along with the celtics and lakers dynasty.

Does anyone know how many Sixers are inductees of the Hall of Fame?

  • Not to take anything from Moses but the 76ers were alredy a team that was very strong on defense and would fast break the hell out of any team. Moses's rebounding kept the ball more often in the hands of a team already built to desroy you before he got there and they were hungry. Moses also was hungry from loosing In 81 to boston. The hunger left after they won the championship and they were never the team they were in 83 , even with the addition of Barkley

  • 86 Celtics, 87 Lakers and 83 Sixers are the 3 Greatest Teams Ever.

  • this sixers team for that one season, was probably the greatest nba team of all time. many have said this, and the nba was much stronger overall than when the bulls won 72 games

  • I would say one of the best. And, you are right - they played hard every night back then. When we were in gym class back then, we always played like it was Game 7 of The Finals. Also, do you realize that basketball is the only major sport without a 'name' for the championship event? You have the Super Bowl, World Series, Stanley Cup and then The Finals. I bet very few would realize that refers to basketball's title event. Can I get an "Amen"?

  • If Billy Cunningham hadn't rested the Moses, Dr J and the rest during the final games of the season this Sixers team would of been the first to 70 Wins. I still believe this team would beat the 72 Win Bulls.

  • Malone vs. Lambier, Dr. J vs. MJ and Jones vs. Pippen - all at their primes - would have been fun to watch!

  • great video ! sixers 4ever

    RUN WITH US >>> SIXERS

  • Big Deal! This was just one year. I saw the Lakers kick their Philadelphia Asses not once, twice, BUT THREE TIMES! Tell me, is that not Domination over an Opponent?

Face it! The Lakers will always own the Sixers!

  • And the Celtics will always OWN the Lakers!

  • If you say so.

  • The Boston Celtice won all seven meetings against the Lakers in the 50's and 60's until Magic's Lakers defeated Bird's Celtics two out of three times. So, eight out of ten NBA Championships were won by Boston, with two going to the Lakers.

  • Most probably so, unless The Lakers dump that Pussy Lamar Odom, and get themselves another Power Forward with Balls. And then, get themselves another Center, who can try to season Andrew Bynum until he is ready to "Duke it out" with the Big Boys.

And if the Lakers do not follow suit to My Suggestions, yes, they will be probably be "Owned" by any Eastern Team they will happen to meet in the NBA Finals. And that's the fact, Jack!

  • No one gives a shit about what you think, douchebag.

  • LuigiLaker

And what makes you think we care about what you say.

show some respect for someone who may disagree with you over a sports team.

Go back into your sewer & take the day off

  • Lakers STILL own them!

  • Great Video

  • Bobby Jones.....one of THE greatest defenders of all time!

  • man wasn't he!!!!!!!!

  • bobby jones was a great defender and dunker, that white boy could take off from near the foul line and dunk on players faces when the game was on the line, he had that dr.j style in your face dunk (but the white boy version)he used to dunk on bird, parish, magic, jordan, any player. he was fearless but off the court he was a minister in church fron n. carolina. nice player/person..he also had epilepsy. but took meds for it.

  • don nelson 25 years ago, omg

  • this video is sick i wasnt alive to watch that team but was absolutley legendry!!! it is a bit like the sixers of 2day but without out the premier players!!! they are still quality though pistons got lucky in the 1st round this year!

  • Does anyone have the clip of Earl "The Twirl" Cureton skyhooking OVER Kareem in Game 2? It was a classic that brought down the house at the old Spectrum

  • Wow it was 25 years ago!!

  • That Moses coast-to-coast in the Garden still bugs me out to this day!

  • HA DR. J. just nutsacked MAGIC at 4:21-4:24

  • DAMMM, that coast to coast move by MALONE was straight up ill, that was some serious skills for a center.

  • I love this team and the spurs!! Both are so awesome!

  • The Sixers were unstoppable in 1983 and were worthy of being minted as one of the greatest teams of all-time.

  • Pro Basketball Hall of Famer Moses Malone definantly made the difference from '80 and '82..

  • He was with Houston then and got to The Finals and lost to Bird and the Celtics. He came to Philly at the start of the 82-83 season - $2.95 M. salary. The local TV announcer boldly proclaimed(correctly)when news came that they signed Malone - "The Sixers just bought themselves a championship." Just think how they would have done had he been there all along instead of Dawkins.

  • Dawkins was pure power. The NBA had never seen anything like it. He was Shaq b4 Shaq and plus he had a jump shot from 15 ft in. The refs were not ready for him and plus, he was so young and didn't take the game seriously. I believe that's why the Sixers got rid of him and Caldwell Jones for Moses. Look up videos of Dawkins on YouTube and look as all his dunks. Shaq, Lebron and even Jordan didn't dunk backwards over three people in a crowd!

  • Don't forget the Lakers were without superstar first year pro James Worthy as well..

  • Dr.J finally won his titile with Moses.
