I remember watching this movie with my dad when i was in grade four. this was the scene that i remembered most. this movie totally opened my eyes to a broader spectrum of thinking. my father and i both forgot what this movie was called but i just heard someone talking about it and searched it here as fast as i could... crazy nostalgia.. glad to have finally found this movie after 7 years

I---I'd forgotten about this scene... the execution of the dogs. I am a cat person, but at hearing the FEAR of the dogs as the clerics entered the pound with the guns. I felt the sinking in my chest at the first of the dogs were shot. I was with Preston, renewed, when the puppy came to him and sought refuge with him, sensing him to be with feelings.

This movie is deep.

Listen---LISTEN to the fear of the dogs---defenseless---as clerics enter the compound with heavy guns! The SPCA, the ASPCA, and other animal groups defend those who have no one to defend them.

It is TOO MUCH to bear when Preston hears the dogs being shot. He knows this is wrong and the people who *gave their lives* must have had a reason.

@YingDarkness: I think I read an article once by a CNN reporter which said that he got significantly more mail from readers for reports that had to do with animal abuse than murder, civil rights, genocide, and all those other subjects that we should care a whole lot more about. There's definitely room for sympathy with animals but it would be nice if we had a bit more for other people.

I have to be honest when I first heard about this movie I heard about it from Film Brain who gave it a pretty heavy bashing but from what I've seen so far the film isn't that bad. However this film does have a major flaw that I think should be addressed: at several points in this film Preston (and some of his colleagues) are clearly showing emotion yet know one seems to notice until somewhere near the 3rd act.

I myself have this theory that if a country falls into complete anarchy there is a good chance that it will rise again as a fascist dictatorship just so that they can have some order but I think that WW3 is unlikely to happen for a long time; everyone likes to brag about their nuclear arsenal but few people are crazy enough to use it (some exceptions include people like the leaders in the Cold War and maybe a couple of terrorist groups).
