I don't agree that choosing between the two is simply a matter of budget. Budget was not a problem for me and I still chose the LCP. It's thinner, lighter, more concealable, has a simpler battery of arms, etc..
I first bought the ruger lcp... Hated it. The trigger is horrible and I find its not that reliable. It is very comfortable in the pocket thought. And its cheap. But I like reliability. I paid 449 for the Sig p238 and I love it. A little bigger than the ruger and more expensive but a much better gun
Being a first time female gun owner and recent CC, I chose to go with something that I KNEW would not require me to think about making sure I had a bullet in the chamber or if I had the safety off in a high stress situation. I chose a revolver, specifically the SW Bodyguard. Now that I have been carrying for a bit, and I have had some practice with a few of my male friends pistols, I think I am ready for one. I like the P238. Thanks for the info. I need one of those bags too!
Good video again. I was thinking though that for my mother, since she isn't as experienced as some with firearms, a revolver over a semi would be better. It seems that with a revolver, she can't really "screw it up" when it comes to operation and also not have to worry about springs/slides/etc. On a side note, the xdm 3.8 compact .45 just came out. Any chance on a review of that in a future vid? Thanks for your videos!
The LCP is a improved clone of the KelTec P3AT. It does have a heavy trigger and is quite snappy, its super picky about ammo. But even with all that its the lightest pocket gun I have ever had the pleasure of owning and wouldn't trade mine for anything. :)
Those are both great guns. But I can tell you from personal experience, if it's a lady's gun she better be somewhat experienced. Those things are a handful for the novice shooter. Folks get the idea that little guns are easy to shoot. As an instructor I tell them "no, they are easy to carry". I have always had the attitude that a gun doesn't care about your gender. Just my two cents worth.
@TheJACKCOLORADO That's a great way to put -- "easy to carry." We can't be complacent when it comes to handling deadly things, like cars or guns. Keep your two cents coming!
Love the video! I have owned the LCP with The Crimson Trace and will say that is significantly lighter for pocket carry! I have since sold the LCP and have a P238. I pocket carry the P238 on a daily basis and have put 400rds through it. I would definitely recommend either gun, but if you want to have fun shooting then save up and buy the Sig. They can be found for around $550!
@merrylt Glad you liked it! Funny you had the exact guns we reviewed -- great minds think alike, I reckon, lol. You're right about the price on the P238 -- I said "street price" in the video, but I meant "retail." Thanks for the info, and Happy Thanksgiving!
I have seriously considered the Sig, and now I'm definitely going to get one.

@heartlandcountrygirl I hope it works well for you. The key to not having to think about it is lots of practice.

My girlfriend hates my LCP and I don't think I could get her to carry anything less than a P250

That LCP is on my "wish list" since it came out a few years ago. I would love to get one for Christmas, and I'm not a girl :p
Do you have any experiences with the KelTec .380? I shot one once, I hated it. Trigger way to heavy, and a snappy lil' bastard! Is the LCP the same?
Great review, as always !

@TheGorillatavern I love mine too.
After the first thousand rounds my LCP started eating any ammo I feed it just fine.
