who the hell would think that he's lip-syncing? ur obviously deaf if u think he was. he was clearly not. since you can tell that he had a slight cold/infection. plus you can hear the volume of his voice getting louder when he moves the mic closer to his mouth, and quieter when its furtherway from his mouth. with pre-recorded/studio that doesn't happen.
atleast he's a real singer who actually sings live all the time when he's performing and very well, even if he's ill.
You can tell he's not lip syncing, you can hear the echo, the bass in his voice. He's that much of a good singer he doesn't need to mime like the crap stars these days.
this was trhe first time he had ever performed this song live , so even if he was lyp sinc , it doesnt provve nothing , this man is the only mainstream artist with any class , so less of the critisism please
Those who say he's lip syncing are deaf and probably hasn't seen any other of Michael's performances. He's one of the best singers I know. So for the last time - he's not lip syncing!
he is great live, i can sing hollywood great but its very hard to and michael has the key stepped down on this performance, so he cant possibly be lip syncing cos it sounds nowt like the original
this song is really hard to do live, and was the first time he had performed it anywhere. why all the arguements as to whether hes miming or not? great performance, even if its sung half a semitone lower than original.
You guys are all so stupid, Michael Buble is one of the best singers of all time!! A real singer, wouldn't have to mime, andhe is NOT MIMING!! At 1:44 , you can hear him shout 'Let's go boys!'. Fuck all the haters. >:l
Is this the next Michael Buble or Frank sinatra ?? And yes hes British !! Wow !!
Watch this - Amazing !! Cry me a river !!

The only act that seems to need to do lip syncing on X Factor is the untalented, hypocritical Cheryl Cole. Expects her own acts to perform live every week and in the times she has performed she has mimed. Unlike the VERY talented Michael Buble!
People are just jealous that their favprote rappers and their pop singers can't sing like Michael Buble. He proves that he doesn't lip sync in his concerts and why would he lip sync on live tv. Thats ridiculous
he isnt miming .. he doesnt need to he is amazing. he is using mic control. his voice is so loud he needs to rather than change his voice he moves the mic away. wen i saw him at the m.e.n arena manchester he sang right at the end of the show without a mic i was sat right at the back of the arena and we could hear him so clear . amazin .
he is not lip syncing. at 1:17 you can hear the bass in his voice when he holds the mic extremely close to his mouth (proximity effect). this without a doubt prooves that he is indeed, not lipsyncing.
@saunderss73 Thank you for sticking up for this guy! man i got soo pissy with everyone saying to me he's miming.... i saw this guy live and he sung to the o2arena WITHOUT A MIC for his grand finale.... it was spine tingling
the only explanation i can think of to support he ISNT lip syncing is that he is wearing a clip on mic.
my reasons for supporting he IS lip syncing is that a microphones pick up pattern, for the one he uses here, will only pick up sound directly in front and a little spill to the sides... so please tell me how his singing stays the same volume when he turns to the side and away from the mic to go 'oooh' at 3:06?? Also when he says the word 'hollywood' at 2:33 his lips move before the word!!
Oh and to anyone that doesn't believe how powerful his voice really is, type Michael Buble Song For You Acapella into your youtube search box, and then come back and comment ;)
Saw MB twice live this year, believe me he was NOT miming. At the end of his live concert he sings 'Song for You' without the Mic and OMG my his voice is so powerful.
Saw MB twice live this year, believe he was NOT miming. At the end of his live concert he sings 'Song for You' without the Mic and OMG my his voice is so powerful.
hahahaha microphone technology has been developed so rapidly (gets artists voice even through a big distance) that some people cant cope with it and start the miming stories. its like watching tv in HD and thinking that somebody has turned on your dvd player. technology moves on. even in sound captures. get over it.
This was synced. There is a point towards the end where he turns his head not just away from the mic, but looks BEHIND his shoulder, and the tone or volume of his voice doesn't change. Disappointing Buble. Then again goes hand in hand with the abomination that is X Factor.
@TheJHenderson wrong :) Michael Bublé has a very powerful voice and as explained in other comments he sings in his shows without the aid of a mic. Anyway, he confirmed that he sang live on Radio 1 on the monday after this performance.
Haha, you may think that he was lipsyncing because the perform was so perfect. But if you're his fan, you'll know that he is always perfectly live and especially, he likes to play with the micro.
Or if you don't trust him yet, I'll show that in 0:36, he breathed in very loud and in 1:48, the "keep" was broken (I don't know the exact word) in the micro. But that's not all, you can notice many parts that he was out of breath and can not lengthen the sentence enough.
There is also the possibility that his voice could have faded out when he was singing live, but when they broadcast it for national television, they could make his voice sound louder at that portion
the thing is michael buble has had so many singing lessons which have lead to him being able to sing without a microphone as he does in his concerts he certainly isnt miming, specially seeing as he is out of tune on parts, ive never seen him mime in my life
@kierenalder thats exactly what im saying, ive heard at the o2 and he sang without the mic for the last part of the last song and was heard crystal clear, he doeesnt need a mic, jheez he isnt the best singer ive heard live at all, but he can sing, and his got a lot of power in his. watch live performances of a song for you on here and you will see him without a microphone
@dueds I've seen that and it's clear he does have a decently powerful voice. But the audience in that performance were much quieter, there was hardly any backing musicians and no backing singers. In this performance the audience are screaming their heads off, the backing musicians are (apparently) playing their instruments full on & the backing singers are singing their heads off. Buble positions his mike at least 1 metre away from his mouth and in the opposite direction and his voice is loud??
@TheTommyTaylor i wastched on itv, this is michael buble, it showed his performances this year in britain, including this one, the contestants back stage were saying, its amazing how pwerful his voice is, we get told to keep our microphone close to our mouth but his microphone is down to his legs and still can be heard, if your voice can be projected without a microphone then the mircophone will pick it up no matter how far away it is
@dueds but nobody could seriously sing loud enough so that their voice could be heard throughout the 02 arena with a full backing to accompany it.. I havent seen the video nor do I want to, he could be just using a clip on mic or something.. and I agree, he can sing and I do like his music lots!
@kierenalder i believe he has got a clip on mic because he talks after the song without the mic but im guessing that would have been turned off for the song and turned on for the interview after, when i went to see him prertty much every song, he sang the microphone wasnt close to his mouth and you could hear him clear nad he wasnt miming cause you could her the breathing you could all the bum notes he sang the music is played down for when he sings without the mic though
@dueds Correction, he uses Dermot's mic for the interview, strangely leaving the super duper one in the mic stand. I totally accept he sometimes sings with the mike down the front of his body (many singers do) but try as I might i can't see one video on here of a live concert performance where he does what he does here at 3.06. Perhaps you could help me out here? I'm genuinely curious how he can do something no other singer I've ever seen can do.
@dueds he does sound out a little off some notes and apparently the song had to be changed in key as he was 'ill' but thats not to say it was a pre-recorded take.. a good mic technique is to pull the mic away from your mouth when you sing louder to keep the overall volume the same, yet here the mic is completely off axis.. so why didnt he use that mic for the interview? and it would not be physically possible to sing at a venue like the 02 in front of 20,000 people without a microphone. end of.
@kierenalder i dont know why he didnt but knowone does, every single constestant uses the microphone the host has in there interview, he is off key in the song through most of it, you dont mime to an off key voice, otherwise whats the point in miming, and he sund infront of i think 25,000 people at madison square garden without a mic and was heard i dont think his the best vocalist in the world i think he can sing very good live and has no need to mime
@dueds thats not true, ive seen others use the mic they performed with.. at the end of the day, i have no idea how he manages to get his voice heard without even singing into a microphone, it just makes no sense to me.. and please stop telling me he can sing above 25,000 screaming fans in an arena and be heard, nobody can do it unless it is total silence.. and i dont think 25,000 people would pay good money to go sit in silence.
@kierenalder well heres a tip for you, watch an opera singer sing, because nearly all of them sing without a microphone throught the whole concert, and antoher tip is buy the msg cd of michael buble because last song last verse crowd are screaming only a piano playing and he is heard, its called projecting your voice, singing from your stomach not your throat, his had like 20,000 singing lessons anyone whos had a lot of singing lessons would be able to do the same thing
@kierenalder he didn't sing above the screaming fans his told them to shush then sang when they were quiet. I'm one of those 25,000 people who paid good money to sit in silence for half a song to hear him project to the whole arena. He's got an absolutely amazing voice and if you don't believe me search 'song for you live'.
@kierenalder It was only a small portion of the song right at the end and acapella. Yes it was much quieter than the rest of the O2 concert but still impressively loud. Search it on youtube. 'Your song Michael Buble O2 arena' and be blown away. He probs didnt use it for the interview cause they might have turned it off after the performace?
wtf is miming? i thoguht it was called lip syncing. And he is doing neither of these nonsense that you fools were talking about. second of all, he sounds nothing like the recording, i love michael but this is a horrible performance from him. Knowing also that he is sick so i give him a lil slack.
Please google bruel & kjaer microphone. You are obviously a professional vocalist with your expert knowledge of vocal technique. Ask any professional singer and they will tell you. This is not about whether or not he can sing or not. its about people who have been fed so much manufactured crap they don't recognise live performance.
@Dizzymammy If you had had the good grace to observe the KD Lang performance I suggested then it would be absolutely clear that I am not the sort of consumer who accepts manufactured crap, I love singers who can really 'do it' live without resorting to cheating. Stop being abusive and answer the question: how does he manage 3.07 and 3.17, no matter WHAT microphone technology he allegedly uses?? Your constant dodging of this simple question speaks volumes..
Here we go again. Why do you have to resort to abuse?? Just explain how he does 3.07 and 3.17, as you are such an expert, and we can all go to bed, lol.
And if you want to witness what PROPER mic control and amazing vocal ability is all about, swallow your pride (and maybe prejudices??) and copy and paste 'KD Lang - Crying' into the YT search box and sit in wonder at the aural tour de force that will ensue before your disbelieving eyes. Now, THAT'S live singing, lol. Go on, I dare you.
And whilst we are on the subject of 'mic technique' (LOL), you may also observe at 3.07 that he tries to grab the mike but initially misses it (probably cos he's singing in the opposite direction at the time, lol). As Keith Lemon might say, Buble fans, don't be a dingbat. Use your eyes, check it out and give me a reasonable answer as to how he can do it and no-one else can...
He was interviewed on radio one and stated he was not miming and never would. The laws of physics you are talking about are called projection. It is also mic technique. Why don't you try and sing that note and see how much louder it comes out.
@Dizzymammy I'm afraid that is nonsense. At 3.07 the mike is a good metre away from his mouth, but even more amazingly he's looking in the opposite direction!! At 3.17 he's actually singing out of his ears, lol Most singers these days (unless they are as amazing like KD Lang and Buble is nowhere near that level) record 'live' backing tracks to sing to when they appear on TV. This still means they can claim to be singing live because their mike is stil live and they may sing some some of the song
@TheTommyTaylormyTaylor try looking up bruel & kjaer microphone. They cost about £5000 and are designed for professional performers to use live. It has a huge dynamic range. Not like Dave on the karaoke on a friday down the pub on a friday night. Listen to the Radio one interview he said it himself he went flat a couple of times! Err K D Lang?
Go see him live then you'll see what he is capable of. You'd probably say he was miming then too.
@Dizzymammy LOL. Still no comment on how he manages to do what he does at 3.07 and 3.17, I see. Don't let your adoration trick you into looking foolish on YT. I've never said he isn't a good singer, he is. But he's not superhuman...and if he's singing entirely live here (and not aided by a pre-recorded 'live' backing track) then he should share his secret with the FBI or some other Govt agency. I'm sure they could make it work in their fight against terrorism or suchlike, lol. Err, yes, KD lang.
I've asked this question on numerous YT uploads of thsi 'performance' and not one Buble fanatic has even attempted to answer it.I'll try again. Please explain how he appears to be defying the law of physics at 3.07. He's at least a metre away from the mike but most damningly facing in the opposite direction to it, yet his voice is still blasting out?? Cut the bleating insults when someone questions Buble's performance here and try and answer the genuine question. Thank you.
He was interviewed on radio one and stated he was not miming and never would. The laws of physics you are talking about are called projection. It is also mic technique. Why don't you try and sing that note and see how much louder it comes out.
God; if this was a recorded track - it aint that great..... you can tell he's down a note and out of breath, bless him.
If you were a fan you would know Buble doesnt need to mime; he can sing live.
As already said; only amazing singers with powerful voices can sing without the mic so close to there mouth it looks like they are eating it... he doesnt need to.
lol def not miming, vocal changes from original track, he's using the mic like an operatic singer would. thats why the mic is so far away from him... his voice is that well trained plus his voice is so powerful he doesnt need the mic close to him.
If you would actually catch yourself on, he doesnt mime, and he always sings like that with the mic away from his mouth. He stated on radio 1 he WASNT miming and thinks "its sad" that the people of the uk and ireland cant listen to one performance without throwing accusations around.
Grow up and applaud the man on a fine performance idiots.
You can hear the plosives which would never make its way onto a recording. I think his mic is a prop though. most probably a mic on his blazor or under his tie which i have seen before.
If u listen to there original there are differences in his vocal phrasing. His voice also changes when he smiles = not miming.
@thea10155 He's not miming. He's rubbished the reports, but has also confirmed Cheryl was miming to pre-recorded. Then again, of course she was, when ever has she performed live, and well!? But seriously, he's live.

1. When people mime they hold the mic right to there lips to avoid being seen out of time.

4. You can see his effort and power through lack of breath and missing notes.

He doesn't need to "sync" the song, because he is a great singer, look at his awards and live performances you can see why.
Also, this is much different from the recorded version, he actually stops for a while on the chorus at the end because he is tired.

@dueds but nobody could seriously sing loud enough so that their voice could be heard throughout the 02 arena with a full backing to accompany it.. I havent seen the video nor do I want to, he could be just using a clip on mic or something.. and I agree, he can sing and I do like his music lots!
kierenalder 1 year ago
@kierenalder i believe he has got a clip on mic because he talks after the song without the mic but im guessing that would have been turned off for the song and turned on for the interview after, when i went to see him prertty much every song, he sang the microphone wasnt close to his mouth and you could hear him clear nad he wasnt miming cause you could her the breathing you could all the bum notes he sang the music is played down for when he sings without the mic though
dueds 1 year ago
@dueds Correction, he uses Dermot's mic for the interview, strangely leaving the super duper one in the mic stand. I totally accept he sometimes sings with the mike down the front of his body (many singers do) but try as I might i can't see one video on here of a live concert performance where he does what he does here at 3.06. Perhaps you could help me out here? I'm genuinely curious how he can do something no other singer I've ever seen can do.
TheTommyTaylor 1 year ago
@dueds he does sound out a little off some notes and apparently the song had to be changed in key as he was 'ill' but thats not to say it was a pre-recorded take.. a good mic technique is to pull the mic away from your mouth when you sing louder to keep the overall volume the same, yet here the mic is completely off axis.. so why didnt he use that mic for the interview? and it would not be physically possible to sing at a venue like the 02 in front of 20,000 people without a microphone. end of.
kierenalder 1 year ago
@kierenalder i dont know why he didnt but knowone does, every single constestant uses the microphone the host has in there interview, he is off key in the song through most of it, you dont mime to an off key voice, otherwise whats the point in miming, and he sund infront of i think 25,000 people at madison square garden without a mic and was heard i dont think his the best vocalist in the world i think he can sing very good live and has no need to mime
dueds 1 year ago
@dueds thats not true, ive seen others use the mic they performed with.. at the end of the day, i have no idea how he manages to get his voice heard without even singing into a microphone, it just makes no sense to me.. and please stop telling me he can sing above 25,000 screaming fans in an arena and be heard, nobody can do it unless it is total silence.. and i dont think 25,000 people would pay good money to go sit in silence.
kierenalder 1 year ago
@kierenalder well heres a tip for you, watch an opera singer sing, because nearly all of them sing without a microphone throught the whole concert, and antoher tip is buy the msg cd of michael buble because last song last verse crowd are screaming only a piano playing and he is heard, its called projecting your voice, singing from your stomach not your throat, his had like 20,000 singing lessons anyone whos had a lot of singing lessons would be able to do the same thing
dueds 1 year ago
@kierenalder he didn't sing above the screaming fans his told them to shush then sang when they were quiet. I'm one of those 25,000 people who paid good money to sit in silence for half a song to hear him project to the whole arena. He's got an absolutely amazing voice and if you don't believe me search 'song for you live'.

Dizzymammy 1 year ago

Dizzymammy 1 year ago

Dizzymammy 1 year ago
@Dizzymammy LOL. Still no comment on how he manages to do what he does at 3.07 and 3.17, I see. Don't let your adoration trick you into looking foolish on YT. I've never said he isn't a good singer, he is. But he's not superhuman...and if he's singing entirely live here (and not aided by a pre-recorded 'live' backing track) then he should share his secret with the FBI or some other Govt agency. I'm sure they could make it work in their fight against terrorism or suchlike, lol. Err, yes, KD lang.
TheTommyTaylor 1 year ago
I've asked this question on numerous YT uploads of thsi 'performance' and not one Buble fanatic has even attempted to answer it.I'll try again. Please explain how he appears to be defying the law of physics at 3.07. He's at least a metre away from the mike but most damningly facing in the opposite direction to it, yet his voice is still blasting out?? Cut the bleating insults when someone questions Buble's performance here and try and answer the genuine question. Thank you.

@TheTommyTaylor haha you're totaly right :P magic would be the answer to your question.... or pre-recording ;)

Considering he has done live shows where he sings for hour(s) I guess he would just mime on X-Factor. Idiot
Only the worst of singers mime such as Rihanna & Cheryl cole who have no talent but looks.

LOVE IT; LOVE HIM = INCREDIBLE

TeeneyBop1976 1 year ago
lol def not miming, vocal changes from original track, he's using the mic like an operatic singer would. thats why the mic is so far away from him... his voice is that well trained plus his voice is so powerful he doesnt need the mic close to him.
go watch him live an you'll realise that.

LooBlink 1 year ago
Not miming.
You can hear the plosives which would never make its way onto a recording. I think his mic is a prop though. most probably a mic on his blazor or under his tie which i have seen before.
If u listen to there original there are differences in his vocal phrasing. His voice also changes when he smiles = not miming.
