Fucking great lesson. I'm a major label guitarist...only 20. but ive been playing a LONG time. This lesson will definitely improve your soloing and improvisation more than you'll ever know. Remember...nobody's a professional until 10,000 hours of practice have been met.
Nice teaching- very relaxed. I've been playing guitar for many years (44 years) but never tried blues (can you believe it?) and I am trying it out. I do believe you Can teach an old dog new tricks. LOL. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much for this lesson. I learned a lot I kinda mixed the blues with egyptian with the exercises, worked out pretty well. \m/ rock on man. Its just awesome learning blues.
I'm finding my way backwards in these lessons. I find all of them very informative and interesting, even things I've been playing since the mid 1960s. Good hooks and tricks for me to remember some of these elementary scales as I learn the more sophisticated lessons.
i seriously have to say..marty is by far the best teacher and one of the coolest guys that does these lesson videos..im buying the dvd's just because i see him so much and i just like that he has a sense of humor..keep it goin marty!
Marty has such a great appeal as a guitar teacher. Good info and easygoing way of presenting the technique. Serious but not stick up the ass serious, in fact great sense of humor. My favorite YouTube guitar teacher. I have learned from this man.
nice man cheers for another great lesson ;) when i first started playing guitar i focused on more of the metal and rock side of things but your vids have helped me to open my eyes to other great styles of guitar playing :)
Hi you have a great teaching style and personality. I have a question. I have a les paul gibson black beauty and a fender deluxe reverb reissue. I am trying to find that really great bossa nova tone and wanted to ask about pedals or effects that compliment.
just letting u guys know that the grouping technique is actually a musical technique called sequencing. definetly great for improv. try it on others scales and with bigger groupings, the great thing about it is u can never go wrong :)
A teacher taught me this in a half hour session years ago, take it from me, it really is the most useful thing to learn for soloing and learning to jam.
If I believed in God, Marty, I'd say you were a godsend....At any rate, it's great to have you...The greatest guitar teacher in history!...not a bad player either.......I will buy DVDs, btw
@Estonianwoodsman But if you are new to this then it will be the first time for some.
So, it does give some, a valuable, FREE guitar lesson and then it is up to the player to expand in whatever way he/she feels confitable, but I understand this will not apply to more experienced player like yourself. Let's all be GRATEFULL for the great service that youtube and the people that contribute on it give us and be happy. :~)
Great lesson Marty. You always seem to bring a great instructional practice routine together with an interesting and worth while method of practicing the "theory". Learning with out learning, what a concept.
lol this guy really remiends me of that film with billy crystal ( city slickers ) lol he sounds and looks like one of the other guys Jon Lovitz hahahahahah yer thats him lol man he sounds just like him

The most important part of playing the blues is the phrasing. Anyone can play the scale, but if you phrase it badly, you will sound like crap.
