Interesting video! btw my daughter used this amazing weight loss diet named: Impact 790 Diet and already lost 6 kgs within just a month. I do not remember the exact website just Google it.
It is sort of bizarre viewing a majority of these vids these days when I'm finally not chubby any more - my magic pill is DietOramy eating routine plan (Google has some more content) - that thing definitely helped me to make over my body, overall health and my entire life.
I have to second the comment below that vitamix and blendtec blenders cost 500 BUCKS OR MORE! What average person can afford that?! Alton conveniently fails to mention that a blender meeting all his criteria costs half a grand! Pay the rent, or buy a blender and be homeless? Hmmm.
@jawojnicki Agreed! I've made smoothies and more with no problem just using an inexpensive Oster Blender. It's all about the engine and power. You don't have to spend a week's pay on a good blender.
if you look closely, Vitamix is used in Iron Chef too. The restaurant industry uses the Vita line's vitaprep line, the Vitamix is the version for home use. I went to culinary school and worked in NYC restaurants and I can tell you, culinary schools & restaurants trusts the Vita line. IMHO, there are only 2 blenders that are the best of the best, and that's the Vitamix or the Blendtec. Either will do just fine.
Hmmm... I was never aware that Alton Brown needed to lose 50 lbs. He has always looked like he would weigh about 170lbs dripping wet. His smoothie tips are not bad but are not all that great. Men in particular should minimize their soy intake. Also, you should use fresh fruit instead of frozen fruit whenever possible. As for the blender, I would recommend a Blendtec instead of a Vitamix, as a Blendtec can perform a much better job in less time and effort, and cleans up much easier!!
I believe it is the Vitamix Super 5200. The CIA isn't sold through the Vitamix site and is sold through other sites. I honestly think it is the same as the CIA, but the Culinary Arts Institute just labeled it with their name on it.
Erm... Just a note to you dieters out there. SOY is a terrible thing for males to consume. It increases your estrogen levels and thus pronounce feminine features and promotes weight gain. You should have milk. There is a study they covered. People who had the same calorie consumption, but had dairy (milk, yogurt, etc) had 50% less fat absorbed ( you can guess how they conducted this measurement...) because it causes a soap like membrane to line the stomach
@L4nce0 you would have to consume a LOT of soy (equivalent to a pure estrogen shot) for a man to start having feminine features. The human body normally regulates hormone levels and unless you were castrated, only then would you start developing small breasts. Adults do not need milk (many outside of America are lactose intolerant) but they DO need calcium and there are other foods to get that essential mineral.
Soya Milk????? This is one of the most poisonous foods out there! Soya and other such as tofu etc , are gender benders and they cause cancer..Contray to popular belief Asians don't eat much soy and when they do its fermented.
@Rogerbradly Fermented soy products are used as a seasoning like salt and pepper. True, Asians don't eat so much soy as Americans think we do but Americans are apt to overdo everything that is supposedly good. Asians eat with chopsticks which DO make you eat smaller bites, and a diet higher in vegetables than meat. It's all about Calories consumed vs energy spent. Americans sit around watching too much TV, playing video games and driving. Not walking much.
@ChynnaDahl I'm sorry I don't get your point? Bite size calories and energy spent has nothing to do with whether something is a poison or not. UN-fermented Soya is in everything today you get it when you don't want it. It's in nearly all sauces condiments its in all stock cubes its in all those packets of meat sauce. Its in your can of beans its in ice cream! This is a gender bending poison that also stunts growth.Though Asians and Africans tolerate it much better that North Europeans

AB you turned into the cliched middle-aged man - what a preachy diatribe. You used to be cool to watch, now you look like you have cancer. Good luck with those sardines, man.
@TriscuitXIII Acai juice is expensive as it is one of the latest "super foods" along with pomegranate, goji berries, etc... You do not need to buy acai juice. Any pure fruit juice is fine to mix in your smoothie as long there there are no added sugars, preservatives, high fructose corn syrup, or additives. Try grape, orange, pineapple...
He mentioned a book in the episode called "Buff Like Me", but that was a joke, and I'm told he doesn't intend to write a book on the subject. There certainly is a lot of interest he he did ultimately write a book, though.
Am I the only one who doesn't like smoothies? I don't like fruit all smashed up and stuff...

I like to use yogurt and tropical juice for my smoothies. Don't like the milk flavour for smoothies since I'm not making a milkshake.

2% low fat milk has MORE protein than most soy milks.
frekijsimpson 2 years ago
yes, but there is a bunch MORE SATURATED fat in 2% milk.
spotmeatsour 1 year ago
@spotmeatsour Spot on! It's the saturated fat that we must avoid and many processed foods out there are also full of it!

If you were to buy everything from costco, the you'll end up buying bulk items... and the rough est. total cost would be...
5lbs blue berries 80 oz $9
5lbs peaches 80 oz $10
5lbs strawberries 80 oz $10
5lbs of bananas 80 oz $3.50
3 quart milk 96oz by weight $5.00
3 quart of juice 96oz by weight $5.00
20 drinks and some left over milk and juice
$ 42.50 + sales tax
Much cheaper than your jumba juice. It is easy to make, but this isn't a drink that some people can live off on daily.

Oh, This is not the price of Acai juice, just reg grape, cran/pom drink. If you use Acai, prepare to splure a little!
