your a funny mutherfucker. haha. some pansy is like ohh i dont like the sound of your drums. well i dont like you. haah. dont ever stop fighting the good fight. and if your ever around DC you look me up edward, i'll get you into a show. your a talented musician. be good
whew... that's what i call stick control. anybody can make a ruckus. it's WAAAAAY more challenging to hold back, leave space, and master volume control. very tasteful. PS. what do you think would be the cheapest way to get me a 24"? buy a shitty one on ebay and restore it?? it's hard (and expensive) to get ahold of a good one.
@Who2Are1You thanks for the kind words, my thoughts exactly. I got this one fairly cheap and it sounds great, just try to find and older but good quality wood vintage drum is the cheapest way. a nice thin shelled maple drum can be got for £150 if you search ebay hard enough and are not too fussed about cosmetic condition..
@idektron i don't mind as long as the edges are fine. i'm actually refinishing mine right now. it's fun, but i miss playing my set. i'll probably look around for the cheapest, biggest i can find. i saw a set with a 32"... i didn't get to hear it, though.
Tama makes an amazing sounding 18x24 bass drum for cheap.. Tama Superstar Bass Drum. Got mine for just 450 online, brand new. Trying to replicate Abe Cunningham's set hah.
I will say I love the inner beats... good touch... however... SHOW ME THE HEAVY TOO! You just need more crash and a more high hat (not a 13" i am guessing by the sound) ... included with some hard hits to show your 24" isn't for compensation and you got it. throw a big crash over the ride for some variation and lay into it without crooking our wrists to give solid and confident vibe and I love it.
i hear what you are saying, is nice to play heavy but this is the way i naturally play (especially on a sunday afternoon when i recorded this), i wouldn't say it isn't confident just i like to beat around the bush somewhat... a la mitch mitchell
i like the intensity you hold at 2:40 are those straight 32's...pradiddles or what? Steve jordan does type thing that a lot to pad guitar solos...look up "john mayer trio chicken grease / jam / sissy strut" video...thats how its written ...hes holds something like that for a long while
yeah interesting i don't actually really know, am doing a lot of doubles with my left. but am totally self taught and just learnt from listening to stuff and am a bit anti 'you must learn this' so always find it interesting when my stuff sounds like something else..
yeah cool, like the black and white aged vibe ! yeah had em for a while now use them on my 'gigging' kit, you can just about make them out on my Phenomenal Cat ! band videos on my homepage..
Hey fella...How ya been? Man what u think about 24" Kick? Lot more powerful? Just deeper? I am bidding on a renown maple kit with a 24" kick, 13,16,18 toms and 14 snare...big fat sound i hope..any thoughts?
hi, yeah going well. i love a 24" bass drum so much more tone and fatness and lots more power and control in a band situation ! defo has deeper fuller tone but i prefer a shallower depth as not really a fan of the cannon like tone of a deeper drum spesh of this larger diameter. never played a modern gretsch but love the older stuff..
What difference do you find in the short bass drum, as opposed to the standard 16" or 18" depths that most kick drums are today?

you need to fix those overtones
by some moon gel pads or a plastic ring to muffle them and they will sound alot better
