I've recently passed C and C+E and I'm looking to get a lorry suitable satnav .. are you still driving? could you suggest something affordable? I think I'm going to have to get a car system with a truck map installed.
If you need a sat nav then get an expensive one specifically for trucks that will have the right roads and bridge heights. The average sat nav will have "lorry routes" but it seems it's only a time of arrival adjustment & won't avoid the 7.5 ton roads etc. My advice is get what ever you like but check your route with a good map. Im still driving & I hav a sat nav but it's shit. If I don't know a place of delivery I will get as close as I can & then ring the destination for directions.
@jaisuschrist I've been looking into the Snooper S900 from what I've read its the same as the S9000 minus the bluetooth and mp3 player. Its not too pricey considering some of the other truck satnav's. I think its around £250 new so could probably pick up a second hand one at a good price.
I'm getting a truck a-z and I would like to use this as my main source of navigation but I think I'll have the satnav on the dash set-up just to glance at.
