Spirit's "Fresh Garbage" is classic. Beck obviously loved the song, which is why he sampled it (and royalty-wise Spirit wasn't shafted), and the fact that it isn't a predictable sample earns him bonus points. And even if Pink never heard Spirit's original, her desire to cover Beck's version and his generosity in giving her the song shows what a nice guy he is. Some think this Pink song is great, others see it as desecration and never the twain shall meet...that's the way it is in our world...

It took me a couple of spins to fully appreciate what I was hearing but I knew I was going to love it more and more. Sure enough. Now I've got all Spirit's albums (well, at least from their core period 1968-1970).
