Just mask off areas where you dont want paint. This gun is black already, just pull off the ugly decals :)

ok i have done a few steampunk mods. but they never look really really awsome like this...what kind of paint do you use and how do you put the stuff on it?

I used standard krylon spray paint for the gold and for the copper i used a hammered metel type paint. it gives the real metal texture. to put the extra stuff on,, I took the gun apart and drilled hols and bolted the top handles on but the rest is gorilla putty. when that stuff dries it becomes like a rock.
