@omarv6 - You are right, very poor heel & toe, not my usual style at all if you check my other videos. I didnt heel & toe at all from the start as was really struggling with the heat and had leg cramps. I'm from the UK and 40deg C temps are unknown, plus was held on the grid for ages oweing to a red flag. I do try and heel & toe at the end of the s/f straight (see 3:35) but the pedal was lose which made it diffilcult to impossible to do properly. I didnt bother for most corners after that.
@AlphaKingsMachinima - I was coaching a Saudi driver who entered the series, via contacts at the Reem circuit. He was unable to do this race oweing to business commitments so asked me to 'step in' in his place. There are a number of series' in the Middle-East but sadly the Lotus one does not seem to have continued.
Hmmm, one question mate, as you are a lotus pilot, i have to make you this question... Could you use a exige cup260 as your normal every day car ? ...what i mean is not only to race or as your 2nd car. Thanks ! ...great driving !
@MrSoze66 I've used an Exige as a daily driver. It sucks for picking up groceries (you can fit a pack of bottled water in the trunk, that's about it), but the fuel economy isn't bad at all. I don't remember if the Cup is taggable, but the S260 definitely is.
@MrSoze66 - Sure, it's a little hardcore but perfectly acceptable. Biggest problem maybe heat, cant remember if these have air-con but they get very hot inside. This race was red flagged on lap 1 and we were on the grid about 18 minutes before this start and I was fading fast. I have a S2 Elise with Honda Type R engine (220bhp), full track suspension etc. and I use that regularly on the road.
I love the sound from the tires on that fresh smooth pavement. What kinda tires are those anyway? From your steering and the sound of it, they sound like street tires.
@chrismodiano - They are Toyo R888s. Road Legal but halfway between a road tyre and a slick. There was a lot of noise coming from the fronts, particularly front right as it was really badly shouldered. Problem with the 888s is that aren't great when they are new either, you have to heat cycle them and ideally buff/shave them. I was tempted to bolt on some news but would have riuned them running hard for a race distance in 40deg C
@mantheyporsche95 - looks to me like it had been modified by adding a small block of wood on top of the pedal and tapping it down (to raise the height). It further looks like it had been bent inwards again to help with heel & toe. Problem is this just loosens the top mounting and the pedal then floats around as you see above.
@BEAVISHSV -Thanks, (throttle pedal) when you pressed the throttle pedal it would go sideways away from the brake, not a huge problem under acceleration but made heel & toe very hit and miss and impossible to do properly.
Damn that turn 1 :P looks like a great track, far more elevation and camber to the corners that I would have expected in Saudi Arabia. Car looks like a blast to drive (other than the pedals lol)
@Ghostca - Video never does a track justice and this is no exception. It is very technical with some very tricky canbers and camber switches.
Turn 1 is particularly tricky as it's very bumpy on entry. You really need to heel & toe and you can see I struggled with this, meaning u found I had to brake extra early. Most other drivers take it in 2nd gear but I struggled with this also and not being consistent I abandoned using 2nd altogether. Absolutely fabulous track though.
Bad foot work . No heal and toe !!!

the gas pedal is moving side ways a lot and does not look very good.

@dfraccaro1 - I agree with you! made life very difficult and I had to have 2-3 stabs at heel & toe at T1 ... not the place to have to do this :)
