the earphones works with the shuffle 3g and the ipad. the exstra ring is so it can work with the remote. on ipod shuffle 3g you have to use earphones with remote since there are no buttons in the ipod.

if your touch is sleeping its basically turned off in power save mode......

you can turn on the black light so the screen will go back after a couple of seconds while ur switching songs.
