  • The Pilgrims *were* rigid, no mistake there. That's why they continued the Thanksgiving holiday in the New World. Thanksgiving was a religious holiday for the faithful to give thanks to their God. It was celebrated in europe at the time European countries began colonizing the Americas. It was based on those old harvest feasts, but with the addition of a ridiculously long church mass which lasted nearly the whole day. A rigid, boring holiday, the Pilgrims' kind of holiday. lol

  • When do we get to the part where we murdered the Native Americans and raped them and tortured them and stole from them and took over their land?

  • You know, I was waiting for that part as well.

  • @Viktir666 That happened, but not in the interactions with this specific group of Europeans. The Pilgrims did other things, though, such as steal grain from their winter stores when they first arrived before they had grown their own food. But the Pilgrims had generally peaceful interactions with the native peoples, because their goal in being there wasn't to dominate, just to escape from England. The Pilgrims weren't the first English to settle North America, either. Jamestown came first.
