@italkfan Hi, some people who use just a pot distillation will consider the staff that I am distilling for a second time drinkable because their stills are not capable of any better quality, in my case it is a crude semi-product that required further processing to physically separate all impurities, in this video I am using a simple sugar/water mash.
@santeryi9 ok and im about to make my own basic still that would be simmilar to the first attachment u had so if you disstilled it much slower to get a higher % and took of the bad parts of the distilled alcohol would it work?
@italkfan Hi, no, it will not work simply because it is distillation - not rectification, so you will get constantly declining ethanol percentage meaning that the water and all other heavy stuff are reaching the top of tower and as a result you are ending up with a crude mixture of inseparable fractions - this called azeotropic liquid where different substances are bonded to each other and share their physical properties, and the only fractional distillation "rectification" will give a result.
before you distill it for the second time is it drinkable at 40%? and what did u use for the mash was it just fermented sugar and water? thanks.
