  • Just dawned on me....Jennifer Aniston must be related...though not much of a singer. Barbara, like buttah..

  • how could i ever forget you- once u have touched my soul...u have touched our souls barbra, You dont know what did to me-you dont have a clue..yes u did something to us , something sooo wonderful ...your voice, your singing is beyond interpretation, its magic..we love you barbra

  • My new boyf just sent me this link. He'll be at 39,000 feet soon and then back with me... in a very unusual way. One day you will see this note Speedbird. If you don't come across it then come across me. <3

  • Nicole Kidman owns this song. Sorry Barbra. You're good too... but Nicole sings it SOOOO much better...

  • Her outsize nose acts as a megaphone in unexpected wrong places in songs. This is ok but Nicole is so much better and that young kid Griffith Frank sings this better than anyone I've heard.

  • @rscmrcmd Good Lord ...you're like a freakin, fly at a picnic. Who cares? It's all good.

  • God loves Barbra.

  • magnifique chanson!

  • Barbra Streisand & Nicole Kidman are both such the great singers . It's uncomparible. They have just different styles of performances

  • To my Beloved cat...Eddie <3 <3 <3

  • @freshair3451 :)!! haha.. i totally get that...

  • @BatmansFavoriteGirl I'm not sure which comment you're referring to...but' I'm glad that you do.

  • @freshair3451 the thing about the cat... :)

  • @BatmansFavoriteGirl Thank you...the fact that you get it means a lot. Best Wishes

  • Beautiful. She has come out of her cocoon a bit! Great! About time!!!

  • Still breathtaking her interpretation, well in fact as always****** thanks for posting!

  • She made Nicole Kidman look cheap (Nicole sang this in Nine), and don't get me wrong Nicole did great but you can't dispute the classics...

  • She is simply brilliant.

The only other version of this song that comes close to her performance is the one from John Barrowman. But in the end, it's always Barbra.

  • Legendary talent ... what else can you say ...

  • ust singers version is way way better

  • million billion gzillion times better than nicole kidman.i thought she ruined the song and her voice remained completely expressionless throughout....but barbra streisand is in a league of her own...i love her <3

  • canzone magnifica voce sublime BARBRA perfetta

  • Barbara Streisand sings with such emotion and clarity. Thank you for being a true artist. Technique is one thing, mastering it with emotion is another playing field. Barbara Streisand has both.

  • someone once told me that a great song gets reduced to nothing in the hands of an immensely talented but unskilled singer/musician.

i see a lot of singers nowadays who just belt and scream their lungs out and their loyal fans proclaim these as the best singers in the world.

these video is proof that a simple song, in the hands of a true disciple of her art, can weave magic with her voice.

    applause!!!!

  • @tomtompataygutom A true disciple of her art?...I love that.

  • she is a godess!

  • Her voice was hand embroidered by the Gods!!! SAMY

  • Respond to this video... Hand embroidered by the Gods...I love that

  • La mejor cantante e interprete de un siglo!!!! bravo B

  • KIDMAN I LOVE BUT SHE FUCKUP THIS SONG,AND BARBRA SHOW US HOW TO SIGN THE SONG JUST BEAUTIFUL.

  • I'm not a HUGE Barba fan, but I really like the way she sings this song. She puts so much emotion into it and makes you feel the way the narrator of the song feels.

  • Linda Eder also does this song very well. Streisand is the master!

  • Barbra doesn't just sing, she acts this song. Awesome.

  • Nicole Kidman does this song better ...

  • @justveryblair omg, no. you crazy?

  • Comment removed

  • love how much feeling on this songs

  • her name is alllllllllllllll over much music!!!!!

  • ooooooOOOOooooooo Barbra streisand

    ooooooOOOOooooooo Barbra streisand

  • @jmangonepro haha.. i can imagine somebody getting up and start singing the BARBRA STEISAND song.. oh man ahahaha

  • What can one say about perfectionist?

  • Heartbreaking! Fantastic!

  • I got teary eyed when I heard this! The emotion she puts into the song you can feel, this was a powerful performance of the song.

  • This could be a great song, but it falls into pop shlock, unfortunately.

  • you are an idiot.

POP is clearly not an appropriate term or description for this song.

    Wow...you are an idiot

  • Beautiful.

  • so much emotion in her voice...

  • I remember this and love it. Saved it to my favorites. Posted it to my F/B for everyone else's enjoyment.

  • excellent, as she said, this song talk about the kind of relation shps not easy to difine...true

Exelente, como ella dice habla de las relaciones dificiles de definir... y es una verdad

  • Amazing!

  • I am still wondering why she did not record this song ages ago. When I first heard this great song in NINE in 1982, it had Barbra's name all over it. The lyrics are some of the most romantic written in decades.

  • Wow. She's one of a kind! Love you Barbra!

  • I really like Barb, and I LOVE this song... but I expected more of this version, the truth...

  • I remember the first time I heard this. I was frozen for a while. Haunting.

  • She just made this song so much better for me

  • Flawless. She's one of the greatest performers ever. EVER.

  • BEA-UTIFUL!!!!!

  • Hi does anyone know what key this is in please?

  • @missuser2490 Sure. This is the sort of song that modulates all over the place - Barb sings this in a lower key than it was written. Her first note sounds like F natural, making her opening / home key Bb minor (the mezzo/Belter key). The original was written for a younger soprano voiced, in C# minor, where the vocalist's first note is G#. Both beautiful though I think. PErhaps the sheet music is also available in this lower key, unsure.

  • Hermosa y asombrosa interpretación de Barbra!!

ella es la mejor cantante del mundo!

  • Hi, do you know what key this is in please?

  • In my opinion, Nic sings it better

  • Great!

  • I love Babs. She's so so so so amazing.

  • This song means so very much to me. I owe you so much Barbrabliss for sharing this with me (us). The simplicity of Streisand's rendition makes the words and the music speak for themselves. That is the hallmark of a an excellent singer. Thank again and again.

  • SOME THINGS ARE NOT SHARED BECAUSE THERE SO SACRED TO INDIVIDUALS. I CAN RELATE TO THIS SONG AS HOW MUCH I DEARLY LOVE SOMEONE THEY TOUCH A DEEPER PART OF MY SOUL SO PROFOUND THAT YOU FEEL THE PRESENSE OF GOD IN THESE MOMENTS. LIKE YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO RESOLVE THESE FEELINGS AS THEY CAN NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. I THINK THATS WHY BARBRA DOESENT ELABORATE. I TO AM FEELING THIS FOR SOMEONE PRESENTLY. A LOVE SO PROFOUND IT BAFFLES ME. IMISS THEM AND I THINK THEY ARE FEELING THIS TO.

  • is this from nine?

  • @Neumus mhmmm its from NINE

  • Divina ,rainha !Meu pai que interpretação é essa???Que maravilha!!

    Que voz!

    I love you Barbra!!!

  • Absolutely magnificent...Barbra is beyond words and this performance is proof positive. I hope and pray that ONE DAY I will allow myself to be vulnerable enough to speak these words to someone...the lyrics take my breath away.

    Hugs from Philly...

  • Great song!!

  • The definitive version of this song.

  • muchas gracias...

  • like Streisand in Rain on my parade.. Prefer Kidman's version of this.. Both have alto tenor sort of voices but Kidman takes the cake:)... Streisand is on first record list though.. since Kidman is only in the movies..

  • what an interpretation! barbra is the best!

  • Is it just me? Or has the video gone weird graphically? Arghh! My poor video!!!!

  • there's no one like barbra... nor there will ever be... but this is not one of her finest moments. she's not into this song at all...

  • i have to disagree ok she is past her best but the emotion and feeling is still very much there i love the song and wish she had sung it in her day

  • I really like this performance. I like how she uses her cabaret roots. BTW, does anyone know if she performed or recorded Sondeim's "Loving You" from "Passion"?

  • though the play is from 1982, this wonderful bitch found out that there was coming the preproduction of Nine and she did what she always do, like with Sunset Boulevard:" I sing it... and then, u try to do it better!" LOVE U BABS

  • Nicole sings this better, I think =D

  • @Emotyz See an Ear, Nose and Throat doc.

  • @pudgeuncle What a stupid cliche

  • Noone sings or will sing like Barbra. noone.

  • i dont know which version is better. streisand's or benanti's.

  • I don't believe what I am gonna write here right now... but... This performance is bad for me! And it loses this special mood... I can't believe myself (again) that I am writing this, but Nicole Kidman has sung it so much better than a woman who has one of the best voices in the whole world... o.o what's wrong Barbra?...

  • @Alfie17 I don't like Nicole Kidman and believe me, I'm really suprised, but the low key was not a bad idea... I think it sounds even better. Just my opinion :)

  • oh, come one, the low key kills the climax of the song "you are the reason why....." We can not expect every singer to sound like Streisand but I had high hopes with this song because I love it a lot and I found it meaningless in the movie, the frustration and dispair are not there...and that is the spirit of the song, is not a love song...

  • @Alfie17 I'm sorry, you won't convince me. I love Barbra Streisand and I think she's an amazing artist, but this performance is not good for me. And a movie version is lower what I really like. That's why I'd rather movie version.

  • At least agree with me on this one: both are better that Eder´s version...

  • @Alfie17 oh yes, here we finally agree ;)

  • are you guys talking about nicole and streisands? vs. Eder's? Well if streisand was just 10 years younger (50 something) she still sings better and interprets better than Eder. But vocal recordings reveal Eder as being more full. A great voice but lacks the factors that makes Streisand the best. However, technical vocally speaking, this live performance shows a tired voice. Feelings are still there :). And yeah i like it slowed down like this vs. Eders.

  • oh and as we know, Eder's approach to songs ie mezza voce moments are very much inspired from Streisand. I don't think she can deny that :).

  • @Googaify exactly...

  • @Alfie17 that's not fair... nicole's voice range and tone is excellent (no one compares to barbra, of course)... i think that low key is great, subdued as it is.

  • Nine is 2009, and she sang it in 2006? Which one's first??

I never heard she sang it before

  • movie is 2009, the musical is way older

  • thats not new... its from nine... ¬¬

  • a new song for her... she sang this song for first time in the concert ;) everybody knows it's from nine ;)

  • She mentions " a new song, for me " meaning it is a song she never sang before.... Off course it is from Nine...

  • I totally disagree.

She is a very complete artist.

With 50 years of music, film and theatre she has shared her talent with millions..

    Not overrated at all.

ONe of the greatest artists ever.

  • OMG! 59 recording studio albums, 9 Grammys, and an Academy Award for best composer is nothing for a musician I see!!! (If u wanna talk about the actress, that's another point... but she took the role and she won another Oscar!)

  • @RajaMCool And it's better to do every piece of crap that comes along? Overrated? I guess the rest of the universe has been wrong for the past 50+ years. I guess all of the honors including the Cecil B. DeMille, Oscars, Emmys, truckload of Grammys, The Kennedy Center Honors and tons of others are not enough validation for a 9 year old like yourself. You obviously know little of the woman's priorities and other interests.

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH......

    Hugs from Philly...

  • Just incredible! I don't what it is...the sound of that voice, her tonalities, the heart she puts, her inteligence, the actress that she is, her soul,...I really don't know. But, it is like a drug! Sometimes I repeat over and over and over and over a single note just searching where the hell it came from...so sublime, so unique, so private...I don't even think you can find such a sound in the outer space but definitely not on earth!

  • It is the same for me...and most of her best performances are not hits...songs like Moonfall, Just Because, Places that belong to you...are priceless...

  • I love Streisand. she's always and always will be brilliant. Exceptional voice and a very good role model to singers worldwide :)

  • very nice song!!

  • trop belle cette chanson j adore

  • Bravo! I`m glad you`ve stayed in the game long enough for me to hear this live, and understand its` meaning.

  • I miss you.....

  • what's the negative comment for?

  • sounds almost cheresque at times

    but so, soo powerful

  • I think she is is very young looking and her voice is much better here than ever before.

  • La mejor de todos los tiempos !!!!!

    José Luis

    Alicante, España

  • She's the best.

  • no no no no, i'd say elliot gould or even her mother.

  • Barbra! great voice, glorious character.

  • i don't know if you people have heard other renditions of this...but barbra sounds far from amazing, nor in comparison to her own large catalog of recordings and live performances.

  • Think you need a hearing test lol!!!

  • I'm a cellist with the BBC Concert orchestra. I have recorded on 3 Barbra albums. She doesn't sound "far from amazing". An emotional song doesn't have to be technically perfect, the less the better. If you can't get that you'll never get the point of the song.

  • @cellodiva2007 They will NEVER get it , but, THANK GOD we do.

  • oh dear. Over the head

  • Don't you get it?

  • @CocaineHabbit : idk what u think, but i'm in love w this version, it seems much more real than those song were sang with all the right note... In another word, the imperfection has made it perfect. :)

  • Perhaps she's talking about Kayleigh??

  • It seems to me that it could be an artist's song singing to her audience? 'Streisand would fit the line ' though at times it appears I won't stay, I never go'.

  • Barbra is wonderful, the son is very very beautiful

  • I wonder whom is she singing about.

Someone she loved but did not love her.

Could it have been someone in high school she had a crush on? Many years

have passed and in an unusual way she

    still loves him....

  • I would bet on someone that she loved and loved her back but just circumstances getting in the middle. Thats the way I feel it. I used to sing this song to my exboyfriend, feeling frustrated but at the same time telling him how much he meant to me

  • You're the reason whyyyyy........ you just have to love her!!

  • Comment removed

  • You have no idea what you are talking about. This is from the musical "Nine" that had it's first premiere May 9. 1982, The composer and lyricist is Maury Yeston. Linda Eder did a cover of it and that is it.

  • thumper: I am vaklemped; yes darling, u are correct; how can I forget Nine, can't wait to see it with Kidman and the girls...Eder usually does her ex-hub's work, he was a pop composer...forgive me, mr. yeston....will remove my other comment...very nice of u to set the record straight

  • I can't stop listening to it. She could have recorded this song only throughout her singing career and she'd owe NOTHING to the world.

  • take notes new singers this is talent

  • Being a fan since my senior year in high school ('83/84), she always seems to awestruck me with her voice. This performance, Barbra and the lyrics, moves me to tears

  • You can tell that the voice has raspy edges now, and shows the wear and strain of time, but what a magnificent performer, and what incredible control, still. The ultimate singing actress, Streisand brings amazing depth, passion, understanding and delicacy to this song.

  • ...and that raspy voice is so much more mellow, rich and deep. I love it :-)

  • I agree with you barbrabliss! Thanks for sharing this beautiful song!!

  • Simply awesome - I know so well what she means...
